Beautiful campground, sites we're adequately spaced and level with beautiful views of the lake and sunrise from site #9.
Absolutely love this campground. Very clean, quiet and proximity to beach and Munising are a plus. There is a dump station! FYI we got swimmers itch here on 9/3 - 9/4 2026 from the bay. Had no idea what it was or what to look out for. We swam exclusively in the bay at campsite along with snails and ducks. Lake Superior was 72. Now we know this trifecta = swimmers itch.
Clean, quiet, nice park. Rustic park with vault toilets. Large private sites. First come first serve, and ability to reserve sites. Short walk to the day use park, ruins, and lake. Would recommend and will be returning.

Bay Furnace Campground is a tranquil camping destination nestled near Munising, offering a peaceful escape. The campground boasts a serene location, with some sites situated right on the shores of Lake Superior, providing a soothing soundtrack of the lake's gentle waves. The well-maintained campground features clean and pleasant-smelling vault toilets, a dump station, and drinking water access. The bathrooms are extremely clean with little to no odor, and they have motion-sensing lights for nighttime visits. Visitors can enjoy various activities, such as rock hunting and exploring the nearby historic area. The campground's proximity to Munising and the availability of a gas station and small lodge across the street add to the convenience. Campers can use generators during designated hours, and the wooded campsites accommodate a variety of setups, though larger RVs may face some challenges. The campgrounds in the middle of the loop closer to the lake provide more privacy, thanks to thick foliage that blocks views of neighbors. The entry road does have some rather large pot holes, so caution is advised, especially when pulling a boat or trailer. Guests love the easy beach access—just a short walk to Lake Superior beach, where water shoes are recommended. The environment is beautiful, quiet, and clean, with mostly secluded campsites suitable for big RVs, tents, and well-behaved dogs. The campground is a perfect place for a relaxing getaway, with plenty of space between sites and a peaceful atmosphere.
