I was able to get to restaurant and taste more of what they offer, and they are consistent, the food was hot, fresh, and very good! Smothered pork chops.....YUM. I recommend this if you want a home cooked taste without the work, try Mookies.“

“The food here is great. This was our 1st time here. We were here all the way from Wisconsin for an event and i asked who got the best soul food in town and was told to stop by Cornbread. Amazing food, and service, and the place was clean. The Staff went above the call of duty. Ms. Donya if you see this, you are a JEWEL! This lady was right on time with everything. We visited the restaurant on Friday upon arrival to Michigan and was the first customers on Sunday 11:30AM as we were leaving from Michigan to return home. Go here, you will not be disappointed. “From the moment we arrived, our experience was nothing short of amazing. The food was outstanding—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was warm, friendly, and fun, making it the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. “The price of the bill vs the food taste didn’t add up. The food wasn’t seasoned, the Mac and cheese was meh, and the yams and greens tasted like something you’d find pre maid. The fried chicken had zero seasonings on it. The only thing good was the fried fish. Service was great and the atmosphere was good as well. But I wouldn’t go here again.“

“Sitting here this good Sunday morning anticipating the day J's Cafe will reopen. I can't wait, and it's been too long. Nobody in Detroit makes Salmon croquets served with rice and gravy 😋 (my preference over grits)👌with scrambled eggs as good as J's does. This is my ultimate hands down favorite breakfast spot that brings that southern down home soulfood taste 😋 to your stomach. The dinners are fire too! This was a very happening place and a lot of us are patiently waiting for you to return. “I went to Velle's Grille yesterday for dinner in the hope of supporting a black owned business. I have no regrets. I had the Turkey Chops with Mac & cheese, collard greens and a side of yams. Good portion sizes. Everything was hot and seasoned perfectly. My meal was delicious. My husband had chicken wings with baked beans and macaroni. He also ordered a burger. He says the burger was delicious and the sides were on point. He woke up and ate the chicken for breakfast and he says we gotta go back lol. Overall we are definitely giving this place another chance.“

“Detroit soul is possibly the best meal from start to finish I've had in years. Walking in you notice how delicious everything smells, how clean everything is and how friendly everyone who works here is. The food is top notch. The breadding on the catfish fritters made my mouth water, the greens made me want to write home, the mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and the meatloaf was so tender and tasty. Then the dessert! Peach cobbler that made me make obscene noises, the creamy vanilla scoop and the amazing red pop sorbet were bursting with flavorful perfection. I highly recommend going here and trying everything.“

The service was provided in a timely fashion even though I placed a last minute emergency order they made sure to tell me not to panic and made sure that my birthday party was a total success. “I was referred over to this place by a friend as we were discussing good bbq. I’m originally from the Midwest but spent my formative years in the Deep South. And hadn’t had great bbq in a while. Came this way to taste their so called amazing Beef Ribs but when I got here they were sold out so I settled for what I found out to be one the BEST DAMN CATFISH SANDWICHES I HAVE EVER HAD!!! (Yeah I know it wasn’t the bbq we had talked about). So I decided to come back because of the dang catfish sandwich. MAN I AM SO DAMN GLAD I DID!!!! Their BEEF RIBS AND RIB TIPS ARE FREAKING DELICIOUS!!!! A very friendly, clean well run environment. Every time I am in town I stop in here and it’s a hike because I stay in the Canton, MI area when I’m in town. Can’t say enough good things about BBQ Central. Everyone needs to try this spot. You will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!“

“The food was damn good and well worth the price I will be checking this place out again the ghetto Burger was good it really didn't stand out from any other Burger but it was still good the cheesecake dessert was the only thing I did not like and honestly it didn't even taste like cheesecake was more like Frozen cake so I'll pass on the dessert but everything else that I had was damn good.“
