“I just got sides, but the other food looked good. The sides that I ordered were good (mac, greens, and yams). The person that assisted me was pleasant.
The only kinda issue was the place and the price. The store was very warm and muggy, and the price for the size of the sides were a little high in my opinion. But those are usually the places that have good food...js.“

“The food here is great. This was our 1st time here. We were here all the way from Wisconsin for an event and i asked who got the best soul food in town and was told to stop by Cornbread. Amazing food, and service, and the place was clean. The Staff went above the call of duty. Ms. Donya if you see this, you are a JEWEL! This lady was right on time with everything. We visited the restaurant on Friday upon arrival to Michigan and was the first customers on Sunday 11:30AM as we were leaving from Michigan to return home. Go here, you will not be disappointed. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was warm, friendly, and fun, making it the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. “I went to Velle's Grille yesterday for dinner in the hope of supporting a black owned business. I have no regrets. I had the Turkey Chops with Mac & cheese, collard greens and a side of yams. Good portion sizes. Everything was hot and seasoned perfectly. My meal was delicious. My husband had chicken wings with baked beans and macaroni. He also ordered a burger. He says the burger was delicious and the sides were on point. He woke up and ate the chicken for breakfast and he says we gotta go back lol. Overall we are definitely giving this place another chance.“

I tried the beef rib slab dinner that comes with two large sides (macaroni and yams) and two whole wings that did not make the pictures since they were devoured in the car! (I paid for one and got two, what a pleasant surprise!) I had to try the dessert, so I bought a large peach cobbler. ( I was also gifted the fried biscuits that were a 10/10).

Nita R hooked me up and really went above and beyond and made sure I would be back. Make sure you take care of her! $$$

“Sitting here this good Sunday morning anticipating the day J's Cafe will reopen. I can't wait, and it's been too long. Nobody in Detroit makes Salmon croquets served with rice and gravy 😋 (my preference over grits)👌with scrambled eggs as good as J's does. This is my ultimate hands down favorite breakfast spot that brings that southern down home soulfood taste 😋 to your stomach. The dinners are fire too! This was a very happening place and a lot of us are patiently waiting for you to return. Sunday mornings aren't the same without J's Cafe ain't no lie in the truth and that's coming from your favorite DDOT bus driver Roger Webb aka Big Unc.“

“Detroit soul is possibly the best meal from start to finish I've had in years. Walking in you notice how delicious everything smells, how clean everything is and how friendly everyone who works here is. The food is top notch. The breadding on the catfish fritters made my mouth water, the greens made me want to write home, the mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and the meatloaf was so tender and tasty. Then the dessert! Peach cobbler that made me make obscene noises, the creamy vanilla scoop and the amazing red pop sorbet were bursting with flavorful perfection. I highly recommend going here and trying everything.“

My home girl had the lamb chops and baaaaby they did not disappoint. Our appetizer was the corn beef egg rolls they were also very delish. Whoever the chef is he/she definitely chefin!!!!! The service was provided in a timely fashion even though I placed a last minute emergency order they made sure to tell me not to panic and made sure that my birthday party was a total success.
