“I just got sides, but the other food looked good. The sides that I ordered were good (mac, greens, and yams). The person that assisted me was pleasant.
The only kinda issue was the place and the price. The store was very warm and muggy, and the price for the size of the sides were a little high in my opinion. But those are usually the places that have good food...js.“

“The food here is great. This was our 1st time here. We were here all the way from Wisconsin for an event and i asked who got the best soul food in town and was told to stop by Cornbread. Amazing food, and service, and the place was clean. The Staff went above the call of duty. Ms. Donya if you see this, you are a JEWEL! This lady was right on time with everything. We visited the restaurant on Friday upon arrival to Michigan and was the first customers on Sunday 11:30AM as we were leaving from Michigan to return home. Go here, you will not be disappointed. The PRICE IS RIGHT.....and the Staff is BRIGHT!“

“From the moment we arrived, our experience was nothing short of amazing. The food was outstanding—every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was warm, friendly, and fun, making it the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. On top of that, the location is fantastic, with plenty of activities nearby to enjoy before or after your meal, which really added to the overall experience. The highlight of our visit, however, was our waitress, Ashley W. She went above and beyond in every way. Ashley anticipated our every need before we even had to ask, showing an attentiveness that is rare to find. She was friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable about the menu, which made ordering so much easier and more enjoyable. Her positive energy and genuine care turned what was already a great dining experience into something truly memorable. Ashley is, without a doubt, the main reason my family and I plan to return. Her service left such a lasting impression on us that we would gladly make the trip back to Michigan just to eat here again. It is rare to come across someone who takes so much pride in their work and makes every guest feel special, but Ashley did exactly that. She is an absolute asset to this restaurant, and we cannot thank her enough for making our visit exceptional.“

“The food we ordered was absolutely delicious, even the cornbread that we had to force ourselves to stop eating lol! The service and vibe was great as well. The only thing I didn’t like was walking up the stairs to the dinning area. I want to bring my in laws but they don’t do stairs and if I recall, it’s like 2 flights. Also, as we were walking up the staircase, we encountered an unpleasant musty smell. I plan to return because the food was that good but I hope the smell will be taken care of by then.“

“Lilly Bell's did a superb job of catering my baby shower / birthday gathering event. They were prompt and professional and the food was so good!!! I recommend this catering company for anybody who's interested in good quality food prompt service and very a very respectful staff.“

“Wow ? as you enter there was a level of warmth from the greetings received. The STAFF was phenomenal, and appeared to have a great working unisons.. The food was the bomb ? my cousin and his college friend/brother was visiting from Northern California and needed some soul food made by special hands….. well Cornbread has it…. Not only was the ambience a vibe with their decor but the food is AMAZING… it was overall a great experience“

“Yall I literally love this place! This is one of the spots that I gate-Keep because I really don’t want a lot of people knowing about this place, not even my siblings. The workers are always nice and the food is good and Great prices! they have soul food and pizza and it doesn’t taste extremely unhealthy like these other chain fast food places. I just got some food from them on Monday and I’m going back again today 😂 As a Detroit native if you haven’t had this place, I HIGHLY suggest eating here!“

“I went to Velle's Grille yesterday for dinner in the hope of supporting a black owned business. I have no regrets. I had the Turkey Chops with Mac & cheese, collard greens and a side of yams. Good portion sizes. Everything was hot and seasoned perfectly. My meal was delicious. My husband had chicken wings with baked beans and macaroni. He also ordered a burger. He says the burger was delicious and the sides were on point. He woke up and ate the chicken for breakfast and he says we gotta go back lol. Overall we are definitely giving this place another chance.“

“My first time here and I am hooked!
I tried the beef rib slab dinner that comes with two large sides (macaroni and yams) and two whole wings that did not make the pictures since they were devoured in the car! (I paid for one and got two, what a pleasant surprise!) I had to try the dessert, so I bought a large peach cobbler. ( I was also gifted the fried biscuits that were a 10/10).
Nita R hooked me up and really went above and beyond and made sure I would be back. Make sure you take care of her! $$$
I was not asked to leave a review but the service and food were too good NOT to show love. 💕

“Sitting here this good Sunday morning anticipating the day J's Cafe will reopen. I can't wait, and it's been too long. Nobody in Detroit makes Salmon croquets served with rice and gravy 😋 (my preference over grits)👌with scrambled eggs as good as J's does. This is my ultimate hands down favorite breakfast spot that brings that southern down home soulfood taste 😋 to your stomach. The dinners are fire too! This was a very happening place and a lot of us are patiently waiting for you to return. Sunday mornings aren't the same without J's Cafe ain't no lie in the truth and that's coming from your favorite DDOT bus driver Roger Webb aka Big Unc.“

“We loved it. The server was wonderful. The food was delicious and the presentation was nice. I did not like the greens, but everything else was a hit. The bread was made to perfection.
We lucked out and did not have to wait long, but I recommend calling ahead because tables are limited. Also, a 20 % gratuity is automatically added. Would definitely return.“

“Detroit soul is possibly the best meal from start to finish I've had in years. Walking in you notice how delicious everything smells, how clean everything is and how friendly everyone who works here is. The food is top notch. The breadding on the catfish fritters made my mouth water, the greens made me want to write home, the mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and the meatloaf was so tender and tasty. Then the dessert! Peach cobbler that made me make obscene noises, the creamy vanilla scoop and the amazing red pop sorbet were bursting with flavorful perfection. I highly recommend going here and trying everything.“

“Was driving by and decided to stop in and try something new and im glad I did. Very warm energy from the staff; feels like you're amongst family. The food was GOOOOD. And they have so many manu items that I cant wait to go back and try. “This is a family owned resturant in Highland Park. The food is fresh and made to order. The service is welcoming and feeling your being serviced by a member of your family. There is no indoor seating but when the weather is nice the small outdoor seating space is very nice. Highly Recommend. 😀“

“Over the top experience, food was immaculate. The service was provided in a timely fashion even though I placed a last minute emergency order they made sure to tell me not to panic and made sure that my birthday party was a total success. I recommend them to everyone whether it’s catering or a single plate dinner the options are incredible and the Mac and cheese is to die for !“

“I recently dined here with my significant other; 12/28/25 just as an “wind down “ intimate dinner prior to the end of the year. I had frequented Savannah Blue a few times, however this was my guy's first time. We both ordered the salmon with grits which was well prepared and seasoned to perfection; very delicious. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The music level was a bit loud. We had to talk loudly to hear each other. Our waitress, her name escapes me, was very attentive and friendly. She made our dining experience pleasant. I will definitely be bringing my guy back again. He was really impressed.“
