“I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Typically, I think twice about coming to Sushi places in strip malls, but the ratings drew me in, and I was not disappointed! I went ahead and got myself assorted sashimi and some miso and all of it was delicious! It was a little on the expensive side, but my tastes for sushi/sashimi do tend to be that way, so I don’t mind as long as it’s worth the price. This place definitely was worth the stop — it wasn’t what I expected on the inside but it totally gave me what I craved!“

“Very standard vegetarian bowl. Disappointing size for $16. It's exactly what you expect, nothing more and nothing less. The worker was efficient. Definitely more of a take out place but I could imagine it's busier around lunch time.

“I ordered over the phone by searching through a recommendation of my sister-in-law. She said the food was always hot and done fast, which she was correct with that. The food was extremely hot. It took me 15 minutes to get there from my house and 15 minutes back, and the food was still Burning hot when I called the woman on the phone. I could barely hear her and asked to repeat herself a few times, just because I couldn’t heat her when I got inside. My food was already done. I paid the interaction with the woman at the counter which then again she talked very low and seemed monotone like I couldn’t hear her very well. The whole transaction was quick. I did not see really anywhere to sit and if there was there was maybe one or two tables That I could remember there are some chairs directly at the front door to sit to wait for your food I had ordered shrimp, lo mein, and pork and rice. And a vegetable roll, which I was not honestly crazy about the vegetable roll. I felt like it lacked seasoning. Everything else was very good tasting. I had no complaints. Otherwise I did not like that neighborhood or maybe area that this market was situated in the service was fast, but it kind of seemed like she didn’t want to be there overall the experience was good.

Parking: Parking spaces were very tiny I have an suv I felt like I was going to hit somes car pulling in the space and opening door also when you back up if you park directly at the front door, I feel like it’s very close to car that are parked directly and back of you“

“I hadn’t been there since it was downtown Detroit…., that was year! ago , the stuffed jumbo shrimp with crabmeat was delicious w/garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables was wonderful“

“Doordashed New York Sushi tonight. Philadelphia roll was meh, sort of room temperature and slightly soggy and slimey. Not great. Vegas roll however was fried goodness. Loved the coating, loved the crunch, loved the flavors, loved the jalepeno. The smell of the ginger was fantastic. The rice was cooked well and not hard. Philadelphia roll tasted like they got some lox from the bagel house and put them with a slimey avocado and everything sat on the counter too long. Hope I don't get sick.“

“They have a drive-thru, which I found interesting for a sushi spot. We dined inside on a Saturday around 12:30 PM and were the only ones there—it seems to cater more to carry-out orders. That said, they offer some great lunch specials.
We started with the dumplings, which were fried perfectly. Then we split three rolls: the California roll was your standard classic, the fried chicken roll came in large, saucy bites, and the Salmon on the Rocks was a bit tricky to eat—the salmon didn’t stay on well.
Overall, it’s a good spot for quick, affordable sushi. I’m looking forward to trying the sushi bowl next time.“

“The food is awesome and unique! Very flavorful! Really enjoyed the okonomiyaki fries, they were crisped to perfection. The customer service was excellent, excited to have found this place! They just added a desert called Match cheesecake which is deepfried and drizzled with chocolate and caramel syrup, very tasty! Allow to cool a bit though, as it is a bit hot ??“

Tommy called me and we had an in depth discussion of everyone's budgets, likes, dislikes, etc. He was incredibly responsive and a pleasure to work with and helped curate a fully customized menu. The chefs arrived early and were extremely accommodating to everyone's preferences-- and the sushi was so delicious! They created a very interactive program where they even taught us how to make a roll! Our experience with Kabar was unique and memorable. I could not recommend them more!“

“This is a family owned restaurant and our experience was wonderful. We were greeted and seated simultaneously and expeditiously. The young male server was very attentive and answered any and all our questions-and I had a lot of them. “Had an early dinner reservation with a friend who had never been to 220 Merrill before. It was a quieter time, right before the dinner rush, and we were able to catch up without any large parties or excessive noise. We both ordered the salmon, which was some of the best fish I've ever had. Perfectly cooked to medium, crispy on the outside, and it came with a sauce that perfectly complimented the potatoes and broccolini. Our server was Shannon, and he made sure we had everything we needed and also gave us the space to enjoy our dining experience. Every time we took a sip of water, there was another server going around, making sure our glasses were always full. I'm glad I could show my friend a new place, and we both agreed that we would be coming back so she could experience what it's like at night.“

“Its just a small sushi shop with, you guessed it, sushi! I enjoyed the meal, it was simple. Gyoza, cancun rolls, spicy California, and lemonade. Its a cute little place. I went in the afternoon to eat. Not many people there. My overall dining experience was cozy with good food. I did eat by myself and paid almost 40$“

“It’s one of the most inexpensive poke bowls I’ve had so far, and it was really good too. I had white rice, spicy salmon, carrots, cucumbers, mango, pineapple, avocado, gluten free soy sauce and cusabi. I love how they label what items are vegan and gluten free on their menu!“

“I came in at what seemed to be a slower time. I was taken care of right away. Our server was great. I ordered Agedashi Tofu, and the house salad. My daughter ordered Chicken Teriyaki, we both got miso soup- which was not included in her meal which I thought was weird. Everywhere else I go it comes with. The soup was pretty bland, and was $6 each. Daughter liked her chicken teriyaki. I enjoyed my tofu. The salad was good, but I’ve never paid $8 for a little side salad before. All in all we had a pleasurable experience and liked the food. But I will likely not be back, I have many other spots that are more affordable.“

“I came to Umai Café in Troy for my birthday because I really wanted to try their soufflé pancakes — and they did not disappoint! They were light, fluffy, and absolutely delicious. We also tried the sando, which was just as good — flavorful and satisfying.

The café itself has such a cozy, welcoming vibe, and the staff were very kind. The only small hiccup was that the posted hours said they open at 11:30, but they didn’t open until 12:00, so keep that in mind if you’re planning an early visit.

Overall, it was a wonderful birthday treat, and I’ll definitely be back to try more from their menu!“
