“We have been coming to this venue for decades; this used to be a health food restaurant called Friar Tucks, where it was conveniently located next to a Weight Watcher meeting place. With all the competition in the area who can blame the owner for flipping this place to have a new modern décor and added incentive of offering alcohol. The wine and cocktail prices are excellent choices with fair prices.

The inside is inviting with an option to sit at either a table or a booth. The new paint and decorations are easy on the eye and offer a relaxing vibe.

There are a lot of choices on the menu, much of the menu remains from it's previous offerings (before renovations). The soups are rock-star delicious. Mom had the Chicken Pot Pie which was dry but she did have a side of gravy to perk it up. I had Fish and chips; the fish was soggy and so/so, the fries were crispy and hot. The silverware was nice and sturdy...not as common as one might think so I appreciated it. The prices are a bit high but not unreasonable given the inflation we have all had to endure the past few years.

“We live nearby but had never visited MacKenzie Tavern until recently. Glad we did! The food is quite good, especially when Yamin is in the kitchen. Pasta dishes are always on point. Good gyro, too. Domestic beer prices are among the best I can find. I've seen some reviews that describe the place as "a bit of a dive." And your point is? It's nothing fancy but neither am I. Try it. You'll like it.“

You can tell not only does the manager but the employees as well all care about each guest there matters. We did the simulator rental for an hour which they gratiously squeezed us in a slot last minute to ensure a great time for our son! Food was good and service was great! We are already planning our next trip there!“

“We held our private event in the enclosed patio at Firebird in Troy. The patio was heated and decorated to look like a lodge. All of our guests felt like they were in a homey environment. The food and the service was impeccable. Our guests were so pleased at the attention to detail and the promptness of the serving staff. The event manager, Jenna, made the entire planning process easy and stress free. She helped us set up our buffet menu and was there day of assisting in decorating and making sure everything was in order. I would highly recommend hosting a private event here and plan to do so myself for future events!“

“Where do I even start! This is hands down, the premier cigar bar! I’ve gone to a few others and they don’t compare to DCs. Chris and Donny (owner) has done an incredible job. First off, the ventilation. On a packed night, the place isn’t even overly cloudy or smokey, great ventilation. Their humidor also offers a great selection of cigars at affordable prices. Next the food. Everything in the menu is top notch and other very affordable. The steak bites, deviled eggs, burgers, fries, everything, 5 out of 5. Now, the atmosphere, unlike any other cigar bar. It’s classy, looks good, clean, and always has a great mix in music and tv selection. They also have a hell of a drink selection, very impressive. Lastly, the staff. I’ve become a regular over the last six months and have had the pleasure to work with some of the best in the business. Sarah and Rheanna are amazing, they don’t get any better than these two! They’re friendly, treat you like they’ve known you for years, professional and know their business. Most would say they do this for the tips, they don’t. They do it because that’s just who they are, just friendly and sweet. Joe is also one hell of a guy! Everybody on the staff makes time for you. The moment you walk in, they greet you by name. They have an incredible staff, that’s what keeps you coming back. “Dinning in a family-friendly place.
It's unfortunate that they are only open until 3:00 pm daily for now.
The decor is elegant, giving the feeling of being in a first-class restaurant with a small bar area that could serve some very nice cocktails if you desire.
All that and yet, there were several well-mannered children present, and that indicates this is considered a family restaurant by the locals.
My waitress/bartendress, Richelle, was outstanding and on top of things.
I ordered the "OMG, BBQ Chicken Wrap" and a side of seasoned waffle fries.
At first, when I began to eat the wrap, I thought maybe ordered the plain chicken wrap because I wasn't tasting the BBQ flavor. I just think it would have been better if it had more BBQ sauce in it.
The seasoned waffle fries were not your usual seasoned flavor, but good, just the same.

P.S. That pickle spear looks a little lonely.
Maybe the presentation would look better with just 1 plate.“

A wide variety of wines that will satisfy any pallet at affordable prices along with some small plate options that will hold you over.. The little flat bread pizzas are the best in the business and they do many fun events each month that draws in a diverse crowd. “We were instantly greeted and seated. Our server Robby was awesome. The entire staff was friendly. Chef Johnny is very talented and friendly. I love that he greets all guest and will even bring your food out himself. For starters we had the shrimp and crab cakes. They were crispy on the outside and melted in your mouth. The surprise with these was that there was whole shrimp inside. We loved it. The sauce on top was just the right amount. The salmon with saffron rice, coconut curry sauce and green apple slaw was the best salmon I've had in a while. The pairing was new for me but it worked. The salmon was juicy and perfectly cooked. When paired with everything on my plate it was like fireworks. Everything popped and was amazing. My husband had the beef strudel. Now he was thinking it was gonna be like a beef wellington but no. When he put his fork into the perfectly crispy flaky crust and into the most tender beef either of us have ever had, OMG. With the first bite all he could do was say "WOW"(sorry about how loud he was). The flavors of that plate were incredible. The blueberry cheesecake was the icing on the cake. It was perfect. Sweet but not too sweet and the smear of lemon sauce on the side elevated the flavors. The drinks. I had the rainforest and my husband had the Johnny Manhattan. When we saw how small the glasses were we were definitely worried. That feeling quickly faded with the first sip. The drinks may be small but they are strong and delicious. We had to pace ourselves with those. Overall, I give this place a 10/10 and will definitely be back again soon. Thank you to everyone there for a great time and for great service.“

“Great place to relax and have a cigar and listen to great live music! The drinks are good and the food is very good as well. The only downside is the hours. I am retired and like to smoke during the day, and even when I worked, I would have a cigar at a lounge on my days off. All other cigar lounges are open by 11am. I would be here a lot if they opened earlier. However, I am at other places now instead of giving them the business. I don't understand the hours at all. Makes no sense!“

“Great place for date night! Walking in, the ambience reminded me of South Beach Miami - contemporary, pop latino music, low lighting... and love the individual tabletop lamps.

Chips are homemade daily and passed our initial criteria of good start! My husband thoroughly enjoyed the steak fajitas and had more than plenty to enjoy for lunch the next day. I tried what was recommended by the owner Chris - the beef Quesabirria. A new twist of a "taco" for me. Tender corn tortillas stuffed generously with juicy short rib beef. I like the extra spice, so a generous side of fresh jalapeno was also supplied at my request. For me, this was an easier dish to eat with a fork & take advantage of a quick dip into the side beef consomme. Excellent suggestion - would order this again.

We wanted to watch college football and there were plenty of large TVs within the bar area... as well as scattered about the dining room.

“My server informed me at the very end of my meal that the restaurant has lied to customers for over a year about having gluten free carrot cake and they have just been feeding people with intolerances gluten containing cake. So disrespectful. I got glutened after I spent $200 on my meal and was assured I had chosen gluten free dishes and precautions were being taken. Like look, I get it. Food allergies are a pain in the *ss but if you can't accommodate people with them don't lie to your customers. There are lots of other places in the metro area who do take allergies and medical conditions seriously. Way to ruin my birthday. Im going to be sick for a whole week because I have Celiac Disease. “Went there yesterday with my husband for our anniversary dinner. The decor and atmosphere is lovely. We had a drink at the bar before getting a table for dinner. All staff were super friendly and courteous. I had the Perch Piccata which was amazing. It was a very large portion so I had plenty to take home for another meal.
