“One year later, I came back to Black Salt. They have made so many changes for the better! The ambiance is still so cozy, I noticed more art. The drinks were delicious and not too sweet this time around, and the SPELLS! Last year, when I got a drink with ritual, the bartender basically did it for me. This time around, they give you supplies to do your own spell! Candles, crystals, ribbon, herbs, you name it. It felt way more authentic and unique. Excited to return when the weather is warm because they have a back patio area too!“
“My favorite Thai place of all time!The food never disappoints! I love that they have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The menu is fairly large and flavorful. A great place to go if multiple people have different dietary restrictions and taste buds. Staff is always kind. Our server this last time struggled a little with balancing their tables but overall it did not ruin the experience. It has a nice and clean interior. I personally tend to dress up a little more but you can get away with not being dressy.I also really like that the owner really cares for the staff. “This spot is a fun addition to the Metro Detroit speakeasy expansion. Located in the basement of Oak & Reel, you check in at the front desk and they direct you to the back elevator, which you take downstairs and wander the hallways to get to the speakeasy. Pretty standard speakeasy vibe and very solid drink list. Service was friendly and prompt and checked in regularly to make sure we made other plans. Altogether a fun spot and well worth checking out!“
“Entering the The High Dive is like being transported to the Victorian Era. The cocktail parlor is filled with stained glass, Victorian fixtures and hand crafted wall paper. The owner/bar tender is a world renowned artist who has poured his heart into this establishment and it shows. The cocktails are delicious and they use fresh ingredients. The drinks are also reasonably priced. Most nights The High Dive is supporting local artist and DJ's and has some of the best techno nights. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend stopping in for a drink or checking out one of their events.“

A shared Caesar salad and zoodle/pasta dish later and we are sufficiently suffonsified. I would recommend the lounge for a drink but not for a full meal - worth the wait for a table downstairs. The shrimp with yuzu app was tasty, the sashimi was fresh, sushi was okay (not bad but not super memorable). My boyfriend and I both got the whiskey sours and they were very tart. I would come back for the ambiance and the apps/sake. Random critique but organize the menus! It was kind of challenging to shuffle through the three menus front and back as some had similar food items/cocktails and others had different. Streamlining the menu would do wonders.“
“This is honestly my favorite coffee spot. Wonderful pastries, lovely coffee and atmosphere. However, this morning I had a strange experience— got my usual order (honey lavender latte), but it tasted burnt and like there was no syrup in it at all (totally not a typical experience there, btw). With anxiety coursing through my veins, I gathered the courage to ask for my latte to be remade, which I have never done, and hate doing. The woman at the register gave me a suspicious look, almost like I was trying to pull a fast one, or steal something even though I was handing her the full cup of coffee to be replaced. Just very hesitant to adhere to such a request. It made me feel ridiculous for even asking... Instead, a barista, who was absolutely lovely, approached me and kindly offered to remake it for me. It was delicious. I was thankful for her willingness to interject into that conversation and help out (even though she was already incredibly busy and working her tail off.) All-in-all though, my experience with the woman at the register made me feel yucky and unvalued, as someone who very regularly spends $7.50 on a coffee there.“

The lemon drops we had were great and consistent, considering we had 3 they taste the same each time! EVERYTHING WE ORDERED WAS DELICIOUS. Caesar salad, crab cake, lamb ribs (top tier), fries, Brussel sprouts, and pita chips and dip. Our food arrived hot and within a timely manner. The ambiance was nice! Parking was fair. “My server informed me at the very end of my meal that the restaurant has lied to customers for over a year about having gluten free carrot cake and they have just been feeding people with intolerances gluten containing cake. So disrespectful. I got glutened after I spent $200 on my meal and was assured I had chosen gluten free dishes and precautions were being taken. Like look, I get it. Food allergies are a pain in the *ss but if you can't accommodate people with them don't lie to your customers. There are lots of other places in the metro area who do take allergies and medical conditions seriously. Way to ruin my birthday. Im going to be sick for a whole week because I have Celiac Disease.
