“My friends had told me I have to try the coneys at the Gopher Bar. I’m in St. Paul like never, so I have never got to go. I tried to go in July, but they were closed. And with their limited hours, it makes it tough.

I was finally in the area on a Saturday night, and hungry. I stopped in and it was well lit with plenty of seating. Fun, friendly atmosphere with a great wait staff. Fast service for a Saturday evening after 10pm. Got the drinks quickly, got the food quickly. Great service. I might go back just for the service.

I got the deep fried ravioli as an appetizer. Kind of like pizza rolls. They were delicious. I’d get them again for sure.

I also finally got to try the coneys. While they are expensive at $4 apiece, they are delicious. Served hot with a mountain of onions and on special toasted buns specifically for these coneys, it was a great experience. The only knock on the coneys is they don’t come with mustard on them which was odd. I knew they were missing something. I added the mustard and they were great. The dogs have a great “snap” to them when you bite them as they should.

I will definitely be back. Best coney’s in the metro that I’ve found. And I’ve tried a LOT of places.

Just be warned, parking in ST. Paul can be a nightmare and the Gopher Bar only takes cash.

“This place is a solid dive bar that takes you right back to the '70s. It's not fancy, just good drinks at great prices. The place is super relaxed, and the crowd is friendly and laid-back. It’s in the heart of downtown. This bar is an adults type place, though—wouldn't recommend bring the kids. If you're looking for a no-frills spot to grab a drink and relax, this is it. Highly recommend!“

“We recently got married (October 2024) and Lake Elmo Inn catererd our wedding. It was absolutely AMAZING! We had the prime rib carving station and the walleye as well as the duck soup and salad. Our guests are still talking about the food. We decided to upgrade to the "LEI Experience" which means each of your guests get a warm hand towel, an intermezzo sorbet, and a chocolate covered strawberry!!! We were over the moon with the service on the night of the wedding and all our communication with LEI throughout the process. Special shoutout to Kayla G. who was the most patient, professional, and kind event manager! She answered every single one of my (many) questions and she did so with a smile! On the night of the wedding, we were SO impressed with how fast the servers were able to get to each of our guest tables and keep the flow going. It was seamless, seriously. We cannot recommend Lake Elmo Inn Catering enough. They've total pro's and just know that you'll be in good hands. “We have shot at Royal golf club many times and the staff and venue are incredible. We highly recommend them to host your wedding! The outdoor space is beautiful and by the lakeside and the indoor space is updated and modern with bright white walls and large stunning windows overlooking the course. “My coworker and I popped in there for a couple of drinks last night while in town for the night, just drinks so no opinion on the food. Not many people since it was a Tuesday night, but still groups of people coming in while we were there. Good drink prices, chill environment, and the bartender Tim was cool and fun to chat with. “When I eat I drink Bloody Mary's they just taste better with my food if I feel like a drink, let me tell you I had a very reasonable priced Bloody Mary and it was on Point I could taste everything in the drink a first for me and it had all the fixings as well, I appreciated that. They also have a place too eat Pop's and Son grill I ordered 4 wings and a brisket topped Baked potato I asked for my wings hard didn't get that but they tasted ok and the brisket was not a lot but also good I didn't bring my wings back because they seemed real busy they brought me someone else's food at first them my order and I appreciated Who I assume was Pop came and talked to his customer's checking on them and their food they gave us A 1 service I work in kitchen's and understand things happen sometimes it's how you react to the situation and after that matters the most and they gave the all. “This is an absolutely wonderful male dive bar, it's quiet and has quick service... if you are a female watch out for Steve(married) and be ready for probably too much attention because it's all older men and a couple biddies around.“

“I happened to find this place when my son had to have emergency surgery...first off, very friendly staff and regulars, could see the stress on my face and were so kind! But the best part, hands down, which is why I'm leaving this review 3 years later is bc Bob's steak sandwich (should be Bob's FAMOUS steak sandwich) was THE F’N BEST sandwich my son and I have ever had - to date! If fact, 3 years later and my son is still talking about Bob's steak sandwich being the best food he's ever eaten! So much so that for his birthday in a few weeks, he doesn't want a party or gifts, just to take a trip to the cities for his favorite dinner!“

“First and only visit w/ a friend. Friendly service, though I cannot speak to the quality of mixed drinks or beer selection since I'm sober and just ordered a juice and water. Slow night, which was much more my vibe. Very clean establishment on my visit. Definitely preferable to the 617 bar. Don't go there. Come here instead. WB Bar has more space, they have pool tables, AND the beautiful bartender is far more polite to those who are new and aren't looking to be treated like an out of towner when they are in fact more local than some of these other snobs! 🤓☮️“

“Let me start by saying I love this place, but I've got some gripes. Horrendous bouncers. The bouncer on 11/8/24 was horrible. I didn't catch her name, but she had no business working her position. After waiting in line outside to check in for the concert, I decided to get a beer at the main bar, when I got inside. Upon returning to the line, she said we had to wait until all other guests got through, despite us interacting with her in the line, and already waiting our turn. Upon talking with other concert goers, we weren't the only ones she screwed. Plenty of other people were told to go back in the line they already waited in, and plenty of people missed a show they paid for. I missed 80% of the show I paid to see due to her not letting me in. Yall can do better, I know you can. I frequent this venue for concerts a lot, and this night was the worst.“

“The Country Lounge has cheap drinks and they make a great Bloody Mary! They have pull tabs, a pool table, and a TouchTunes player. It’s definitely a dive bar, but it’s always a lot of fun! You can order Heggie’s pizza here, which are pretty tasty.“

Prices are very reasonable, while the pours are very generous. The Polar Lounge comes with it's own unique cast of characters. “We came in on the 19th of October for my son's birthday with a limo full of people and we had the best time we are all dressed up in costumes and they had had a costume contest the night was just so much fun you really had a good time thank you opinion“
