5 Best Beer Bars in Rochester

Little Thistle Brewing Brewery • $
2031 14th St NW, Rochester

“Little Thistle is such a gem in Rochester. The inside space is bright and welcoming. Each staff member was very nice and they offer a great beer selection. One of the best parts is you can order beers in different sizes to sample new flavors or go all-in. The outside space is huge with ample seating where you don’t feel crowed. I look forward to visiting again in warmer weather to soak up some sun while sipping a delicious beer on the patio.“

“This place is pretty sweet. LOTS of beer options… I think they had 100 taps. Pretty easy to find something up your alley. Atmosphere had a cool vibe to it and the wait staff was super nice. Visited this place 3 times in the 4 days we stayed here. They aren’t open super late. Stayed at the hotel across the street and popped in for a beer around 9:40 on a Friday with a friend. They closed at 10:00 — on a Friday no less. But I guess they don’t get much traffic in the evenings post-Covid. We came in a cold March and the Bartender said summer months are better with the patio. If in the area, I’d highly recommend it.“

“It doesn't have the mystique of the original Newt's and I miss the Fatty Melt that is no longer on the menu. That said Newt's is a Rochester staple, the restaurant group that owns it knows what they are doing and knows how to provide a solid night out, good for families or hanging out with friends.“

“Kathy and I are from Wheaton, mn and were visiting with family at Mantorville. It was decided that we were going out to eat one night.. they had been to newts before and wanted to take us there... it couldn't have been a better decision.. things started off slow.. after having trouble finding a parking spot, we had to wait for a place to sit.. they were very busy.. once seated we had some great popcorn to munch on.. our orders were taken and the wait time for food was quite short.. the six of us all had something a bit different then the others.. food was all very good and overall the service was great. If we ever get back into the area we'll be sure to stop by for burgers again..“
