“The Cubano was excellent, and the waffle fries and seasoned sour cream are better than other local establishments. I had to give props to the cooks. Most bar food is mediocre, but I was so impressed with their food. We had a great Sunday afternoon here chatting with regulars and the staff. Everyone was very friendly. We will be back!“

“A True neighborhood staple.
You ever step into a place that somehow feels like home, even though you’ve never set foot in the state before? That’s exactly how I felt walking into Gopher Bar.
The original wood interior and walls packed with memorabilia make it clear this isn’t just a bar—it’s a living piece of St. Paul history. It feels worn in, but in all the right ways… like generations have laughed, argued, celebrated, and made memories here.
While I was sitting at the bar, I heard an older couple behind me reminiscing about coming here when they were college kids. That says everything. This place has been a cornerstone of the community for decades, and you can feel it the moment you walk in.
It’s authentic. No pretense. Just a damn good neighborhood bar with roots.
If you want a true St. Paul experience, skip the trendy spots and head to Gopher Bar. You’ll understand why locals keep coming back.“

“Just a few doors down from the Turf Club sits a genuine hole- in- the- wall gem. A unique dining experience of food with flavors to expand your pallet. We had the yebeg tibs and veggie sambusa and a just in case order of chicken strips and french fries, which, while delicious, remained largely untouched as the yebeg lamb tibs and veggies entree was the star of the table. A No Forks Allowed shared entree with flavors that dance in your mouth, the bread (is that what it's called?) comes rolled up and the protein sits on top like a carpet. You grab a little piece of bread and scoop it up and make a mess and laugh and eat and EAT. The sauce was a savory, smoky collection of herbs and with a Minnesota Nice kick of spice, if my 70 yo mom could handle it, you can handle it. The umami was out of this world (and helps me to finally be able to define the taste, actually) The veggie sambusa was a perfectly fried pillow of yummy veggies with a salsa for dipping and the chicken strips were fried to perfection with fluffy french fries. The server was fast, friendly, and offered suggestions and answered questions we had about the menu. This restaurant is an invitation to a cultural exhibition of flavor and best of all, our 2 entrees — both large enough to share with at least 3 people) 2 drinks, and 1 app were reasonably priced at under $50.00. If you're going to a show at the Turf Club, come early for parking and dinner at Dilla, you won't be disappointed. It is an excellent addition to University Ave, I am glad they found a home on our little stretch of road and we should welcome them with open arms and empty bellies.“

“Great staff and prices. Pizzas and fryer food. Limited parking
Parking: Go around back and there's a lot for parking. Kinda sucks because the entrance in the back is long and narrow
Wheelchair accessibility: Easily accessible“

“If you’re looking for a hidden gem, The Cherry Pit is the place to be. From the moment you walk in, the cozy mom-and-pop vibe makes you feel at home. The food? Hands down the best I’ve had in a while! Portions are huge, fresh, and bursting with flavor, and all at an unbeatable price. Plus, the cherry on top – they’ve got charging stations right at the table, so you can stay connected while enjoying your meal. Highly recommend this spot! Mary K. Was our server and she was fantastic – super attentive and genuinely kind. She made sure we had everything we needed without hovering, and her recommendations were spot-on. It’s rare to find such great service that matches the quality of the food, but The Cherry Pit definitely delivers on both!“

“Welcoming, with just the right amount of lighting, TVs, ambient music and TVs. Cozy bar area. Highly recommend the chips and queso, it's way more complicated and tasty than it sounds. Plenty of street parking. You'd be dumb not to go here.“

“Sweeney's was fantastic for hosting our large event. Their Oak Room space was perfect for a group of 120ish people, event staff were extremely helpful in setting up food, drinks, and fun for our guests and took great care of us the night of. Highly recommend as both a neighborhood bar, and as a place to host an event of any size.“

“In between flights we stopped at Ike's Clubhouse. We were trying to find a reasonable spot. We all know airport restaurants can be expensive. But with the luck of Google, we were able to find Ike's. Chase, our waiter was good. My wife and I weren't too hungry so we told Chase we were going to share a meal. Well to our surprise, the server came out with our meal split in two plates. My wife and a were in aww of the hospitality. I know I know that you're thinking, that is a minor detail, but to us that went a long way. I was just expecting a plate with our food, I'd cut it in half and ask for another plate, but they thought about that prior. Besides that, the food was good, the price was reasonable for an airport restaurant and the hospitality was top notch. Thank you Chase and staff!!
Wheelchair accessibility: There is an elevator to get to the upper level where the restaurant is located.“

“A classic Saint Paul neighborhood bar, with simple grub yet so affordable, a mix of Asian and American. All served as takeaway but you can eat it there if you want and the portions are gigantic. There's bingo two nights a week, a Friday afternoon meat raffle, and pulltabs/etabs. Locals are the majority of the clientele but for all its grittiness, it's a safe place with patrons who care about the establishment! Watch out for the parking lot. It's a dirt lot minefield of potholes that will destroy your transmission of you go faster than 1 mph.“

“I was very glad to eat here at the recommendation of my foodie friend so I knew it would be excellent. The food did not disappoint in any way! Don't miss the bourbon list or the au gratin potatoes. The service left much to be desired as I had a server who was very kind but screwed up my order as well as everyone around me. Definitely eat here when in St. Paul!“

“I had the Walleye Poboy on sourdough with sweet potato fries.
Fries were waffle-style and great. Fish sandwich nicely done, but needed more sauce.
Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere is decent for an airport restaurant.“

“I travel every other week and typically fly through the Minneapolis airport. I stop in at Twins for breakfast almost every time. My man Evan is always working the morning shift and take great care of me. He even remembers my order and gets my coffee and food order in asap when he sees me. The guy is great and always makes my Twins stop enjoyable!“
