“Food and service was absolutely amazing. I had the Walleye with fries and my partner had the Ruben and fries. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The service was prompt and cordial. I can't say enough good things about this place. And whenever I am up north, it's a must stop for me.“
“We went to the Sawmill Saloon for the annual Buddy Backpacks fundraiser for the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota. The Sawmill Saloon does an excellent job hosting this event. The atmosphere, food, and service were outstanding, and we look forward to next year.“
“I have been lazy and haven't posted a review in a while, but this place blew me away. I was in town chasing the Great Gray Owl at Sax-Zim and was staying next door at the AmericInn. I figured this was going to be another run-of-the-mill bland chain restaurant with a lousy draft beer selection and overcooked food. Wrong. The selection of draft beers was excellent; a bit pricey but worth the quality. The first night I had the teriyaki salmon, which was cooked perfectly. The second night I had the elk, cooked as the French would say "saignant", and it was so delicious ... lean and flavorful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience all around. Thank you so much!“
“This place was in a pretty desolate location. We went here for dinner after my PSIA ski exam. We thought we were walking into a bar that served food. This place was above any expectations we had made for it upon appearance. The place was very nicely decorated, very clean, had amazing food, and great service. It was very busy also. Will definitely go here again!“
“We had a wonderful takeout birthday meal on October 27th. The salmon was the best ever and the steak was also delicious. We topped it off with the Raspberry Cake! Thank you so much for the great meal and friendly service. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit to Gilbert! Linda Hedlund Roseau, Mn“
“Usually have had great food at the rink, but tonight was a terrible experience for myself. There were four of us in our group. I enjoyed the shrimp. Unfortunately I had a long black hair under my fillet of fish which totally disgusted me. The fish was overly cooked and very dark brown/black also very greasy. I didn’t even eat the fish. the shrimp however was still excellent but once I spotted the hair on my plate I was done. Ashley the server was excellent with her service considering she had the whole bar area to attend to. The fish was also very greasy. I won’t be eating there for awhile!“
“The Shack is a local country bar with basic food and drink. With the surrounding rural areas several miles apart it's not unusual to run into someone you know within avg of 50-75 mile radius. Place is closed on Mondays and the kitchen was closed on Sundays. Think they're looking for another cook to cover.“
