“Living Room has THE best coffee and breakfast in St. Louis. But that’s just what gets you in the door. What keeps you coming back are the amazing staff, inviting vibes, excellent work stations (for those of us who wfh but need to have people around), and community engagement. Seriously, they have the best cortados, seasonal drinks, and bacon. But they are also vegetarian and vegan friendly and have a great selection of teas and other drinks for weirdos who don’t drink coffee. “I visited this bakery this morning and, unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the customer service.
I arrived at 7:59 a.m. and watched a young lady come outside to place the folding sign by the door. I asked if they were opening, and she replied, Not yet. By 8:03 a.m., the doors were still locked, and even she had to knock on the glass to be let inside.
Once inside, I asked if cinnamon rolls were available. She said yes, but then went to the back and returned to tell me they were not ready because someone was still putting the icing on them. I asked how long it would be, and she simply said the employee was icing them.
At 8:06 a.m., another employee came out carrying the cinnamon rolls and asked if I had been waiting for them. When I said yes, she turned to the cashier and asked why she hadn't told her I was waiting. The cashier had never mentioned it. Had she done so, the employee said she would have immediately iced one and given it to me.
I explained to the cashier, whose name was Zoe, that I was on my way to work and that the situation reflected poor customer service. Unfortunately, she never smiled, apologized, or acknowledged the inconvenience.
What made this experience especially disappointing is that I visit this bakery two to three times a week, and I have always enjoyed both the products and the service. This was the first time I felt like a valued, loyal customer was simply dismissed. I hope management addresses this so future customers receive the friendly, attentive service I've come to expect from this bakery.

“It is a relaxed environment. Always fast courteous and friendly service. The only thing that I did not like the last time that I was there was the fact that I could not find a way on the get up and go paying system to change the amount that I had entered for the tip. It is possible that I missed it. I did look repeatedly and did not see a way to go back and change the amount of tip that I entered without totally backing out of the program and going back in. I just figured a dollar was not worth the stress. All I wanted to do was add $1.00 to the tip amount. Oh well.“
