“We have been trying to get to this restaurant for some time. We finally made it! It was certainly worth the drive. This will be our go-to for Mexican food. The food was outstanding, from chips and salsa to entrees. Everything was done to perfection. It was simply the best Mexican food I've had in years. Though it is a bit of a drive for us, we will definitely be back--often. I highly recommend you give them a try, I don't believe you will be disappointed. They deserve ten stars!“

“first test chips and salsa...salsa fresh and flavorful chips thin crispy fresh , guacomole good, spinach enchiladas delish including generous amount of fresh spinach bathed in white and mole sauce, black bean lover loved the black beans and refried beans also yum and finally a perfect syrup/soda mix pepsi cola....which was refilled by the very attentive staff if it dipped below the halfway point, I was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. Inconvenient to my location I will nonetheless be back. Its worth the drive.“

“Mom and pop shop. My favorite kind. The decor isn't worth writing home about, but the service and food are great. My wife and I have eaten there three times so far and will be back many more times. Recommended.“

“I visited Don Chuy's in Lee's Summit last week for the first time, I had combination fajitas that were well seasoned and generous portion of everything. Zion served me at the bar. Very quick friendly service. I went back today for taco Tuesday, served by Luis, who did a great job. I was greeted both times by the owner who was welcoming. I recommend this restaurant and will return soon.“

“I typically avoid Tex-Mex — not enough authentic flavor, too much cheese overload — but JP's changed my mind on a solo Sunday dinner that turned into a full-blown love letter. The place was packed and loud, which told me everyone already knows what I somehow didn't: this spot is popular for a reason.
I squeaked in before the Happy Hour cutoff at 6 pm and got a great margarita for under $6. Most places I go charge at least double that. I was swinging my feet and humming with delight before my food even hit the table, and my wallet was thrilled too. This was a budget-friendly meal that didn't taste budget at all.
The chips and salsa? Light, airy, not overly salty. The perfect vehicle for the smoky, spicy salsa you have to ask for separately (the house salsa is mild and onion-forward, so mixing the two is the move). The chicken & avocado enchiladas were rich, cheesy, and packed with flavor — if you're an avocado-and-cream-sauce person, get your life with this dish! I had an entire enchilada left for lunch the next day, so the portions stretch your $ even further. My only gripe: the beans and rice felt like an afterthought — maybe two tablespoons each.
But the real headline here is my server, Katie. She was single-handedly running a HUGE party in my section and still checked on me multiple times, genuinely warm and attentive the entire time — never once looked frazzled by a section that would've stressed out most people. She even sent me home with fresh chips and salsa in my bag. Katie, if your manager is reading this: give this woman a raise. You're the moment, and JP's just became my new go-to hideout.“

“My girlfriend and I eat at xolos as out date night restaurant. unfortunately we can no longer trust their food. or order was a family margarita (for my birthday) the xolo burrito (only had red sauce no white sauce), and papa's con polo. she ate the papa's con polo, after saying to was not as good at it typically is, she finished it, and had one cup of the margarita. her food must have been under cooked, because she has been throwing up all night and still is this morning. we believe she now has food poisoning, and we no longer trust them to provide us a safe to eat meal. If it doesn't look right dont risk it. we wont anymore.“

“OUTSTANDING! Such good food and incredibly friendly service. Quick, as well. Had the Verde Pork Tamales…so tasty!!! Even the rice, which is never much of an attraction, was SO flavorful at El Porto. Hubs had Poblano Burrito…also receives high praises.“

“This little El Mercadito I have been coming to years. I buy tamales every Christmas some of the best in the city. Their salsa is fire (yes I mean hot) but great. All their other food is great and everyone that works there is so friendly. I don’t speak much Spanish but they generally have one or two people that work there that do. Don’t let the little hole in the wall place fool you. It is fantastic. You can also buy other market items as well. Today the special was a Sopa De Camerones Thad looked amazing. Standing room only. Not a a lot of seating about 24 or so seats.“

“10/10 LOVE THIS PLACE! I grew up near this location and went there growing up all the time. Recently I went back to my hometown and went to this location again and went right back to those good old days. The staff was so friendly, and we had a good little chat while I waited for my food. the food has a little bit of spice to it and was hot and fast to your table.“

“Quiet and cozy. The authentic Mexican food was excellent. My wife and I had the "El Gordo" and it came out on 2 plates and we split the food. We were both stuffed and very impressed. I consider this an incredible value as we both got very full of amazing food for only $15.99 for the 2 of us each eating 1/2 of the order. I am looking forward to going back.“

“My favorite Mexican restaurant, and it's in my hometown! Come hungry. because you're going to get a lot of food! Great deals for lunch Monday through Saturday 11-3! Don't sleep on the queso fundido: best dip ever! Scrape off the cheese that hardens on the skillet and put it on a tortilla chip. You'll thank me later!“
