“Carlitos tacos are the best tacos around. Wish they would open one in Independence. The one in Gladstone is not as tasty as the ones in Raytown…don’t know what they do different“

“I ordered the Chuletta Plattter with thick cut pork chops it was so tender and juicy I ordered it the 2nd visit there! Only thing with this place is parking. There's not a lot of it, though you can park on all 4 sides of it if I recall correctly. There is space in a lot next door that offers many spots and has been closed when we have been there for dinner. So, don't let the parking availability stop you. They offer booth and tables for seating. Their wait staff are attentive & the food arrives really fast, which is impressive. Try it out, I am sure you'll be a repeat customer!“

“Staff was racist to my husband, food items were left off, tried to upcharge us on certain food items, when we realized items had been left off we tried to call them and they hung up on us.“

“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us“

“I spent the last 8 months being away from home which is Texas. a little over a month into it, I found Los Alamos Cocina. they have the best Mexican food in the Kansas City area. it was such a comfort for me to have a taste of home away from home. I ate there every Saturday morning from the time I discovered it to the time I left. the owner and the staff are very awesome down the Earth humble people! I'm going to miss eating there and my interactions with El Jefe and Benito and everyone else! thank you Los Alamos Cocina for being my comfort away from home.“

Very quick friendly service. I went back today for taco Tuesday, served by Luis, who did a great job. I was greeted both times by the owner who was welcoming. I recommend this restaurant and will return soon.“

“🚨GUACAMOLE CHANGE! We’ve been coming to Ponaks for 30 years. The guacamole has aways been one of our favorites. Today we ordered it and immediately noticed something was different. We asked the server and he confirmed that they have changed their recipe, and it’s for the worst. They’ve added “filler” by putting pico and other ingredients into it. It’s not even close to what it was. I hope they don’t start changing their food and Margaritas!!! There is a reason people keep coming back year after year! Please dont mess with perfection Ponaks!“

“Stopped into this gem for lunch and grabbed a carryout order. I ordered inside at the counter and the woman behind the counter was helpful and kind, answered any question I had. I waited about 7 minutes for my carryout order, 3 asada tacos, add onion, with a habanero salsa. This place is fantastic. The tacos were 12/10, delicious. “Honestly we were waiting in line to eat somewhere else and we got tired of waiting and walked down the street to this place. Didn't have very high expectations if I'm being honest. The decore is a little 12 years ago, but it's to be expected. What I didnt expect was how good the food was going to be. First of all they have a pretty good beer selection and a lot of interesting cocktails. We got the chips and queso as a starter (which came out with our food, oh well). Unbelievably delicious. Restaurant made chips, perfectly salty and crisp. Very tasty queso. My wife and I then had the mix and match tacos. I had 2 chicken and 2 mahi mahi and my wife had the cheeseburger and the cane asada. They were all delicious, except the chicken was a little bland.

Our server, I can't remember his name now sorry, was excellent. Very attentive, professional, amiable. Top tier service.
