“The delivery driver showed up and realized he forgot the drink I had ordered. He owned it and said he would be back after he went back to the store to get it and other deliveries. 30mins later, he showed up with my drink, in the hail!!! It was a small gesture that I wish I could give more recognition for!“

“Zachary is the BEST pizza maker EVER!!! WE LOVED his pizza from Friday (order #835)...so we ordered AGAIN on Sunday (order #149)!!! Smithville will be blessed if he stays on as manager!!! “We were passing thru and staying at Best Western Premier. The desk clerk recommended Conrad’s! We went there and so glad we did! Claire was our waitress and she was amazing! Hubby has allergies and she went back twice to make sure he was ok!! We shared the Blue Chips appetizer…with a couple cold ones. OMG….they were soooo good! We had regular BBQ sauce instead of Buffalo. Amazing! And you get so much!! Definitely enough to share! Then we both ordered the grilled chicken wrap with ranch dressing. That also was so very good! I brought 1/2 of mine back to motel for breakfast in the morning. For a side I had steamed broccoli which was excellent. Hubby had the mixed vegetables. It is a casual but nice place!! Claire was awesome and so was the food!“

My pizza is not only made in a timely manner but treated with respect. Joe back there kills it every time making my pizza exactly how I like it and fast as usual!“

“So impressed! Staying at a local hotel and needed a bite for hungry kids and adults. I called in the Family Meal of the chicken Tenders Dinner 20 pieces of Chicken tenders, fries and Texas toast. The person taking my order was very friendly and the order was ready upon my arrival hot and fresh!! The food was delicious all white meat chicken tenders and the sauce was so good. Great job!! “Here’s aI recently visited Slim Chickens and had a pretty mixed experience. I always try to give places a fair shot, especially when they have a good reputation for fresh food and variety. I will say upfront — the food was fresh. You can tell it wasn’t sitting under a heat lamp all day. The chicken was hot, the fries were crisp, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. So credit where it’s due on freshness and speed of service.

However, the biggest issue for me was the lack of seasoning on the chicken itself. The chicken tasted like it was cooked plain, with no real seasoning or flavor in the breading. It felt like they rely heavily on their sauces to carry the flavor instead of properly seasoning the meat. Without sauce, the chicken is honestly pretty bland. It almost feels like you’re eating naked cooked chicken that’s just been fried and then covered in sauce afterward. If you’re someone who loves bold, well-seasoned chicken straight out of the fryer, this might disappoint you.

The sauces are definitely doing the heavy lifting here. Once you dip the chicken, it tastes better — but that shouldn’t be the only way the food has flavor. A good chicken spot should have seasoning built into the breading and the meat, not just depend on sauce options. If you forget to grab sauce or don’t use much of it, you’re left with something that tastes pretty plain.

The sides were decent. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the toast was okay. Nothing over-the-top amazing, but solid. The overall presentation was clean, and the restaurant itself was neat and organized. Staff was polite and the service was fine — no complaints there.

Overall, I’d say Slim Chickens is average. Fresh food and good sauce options, but the chicken itself needs better seasoning. If they stepped up the flavor in the breading and didn’t rely so much on sauce, it could easily be a much stronger spot. As it stands, it’s okay — just not something I’d crave unless I specifically wanted the sauces.

I’d probably rate it around a 6 or 7 out of 10. Fresh, yes. Flavorful on its own? Not really.“

“We are usually welcomed ‘back’ by the staff. My husband looks for reasons to go to Walmart with me so we can eat at Charley's. Although he has been known to go without me. We often stop after our bicycle ride. The food is always as ordered. The food especially the fries are hot. The tables and restaurant are clean.“
