“I honestly judge an Asian restaurant on its hot and sour soup. I am delighted to discover that Peony Asian Bistro's hot and sour soup may be the best I've EVER had--and that is saying something! It was just the right level of sour and spicy, and the fresh mushrooms floating on top were absolutely delicious. In addition, the consistency of the broth was perfect. Far too many restaurants make it so that the soup is more like gelatin than liquid--ugh. The portion sizes for lunch were very generous, and while the beef and broccoli I ordered was not as flavorful as the soup, it was still pretty good. Finally, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. When I realized I had left my wallet at home, they offered Apple Pay and I was able to have a truly delicious lunch. I am a very happy customer and will definitely visit often!“

“I’ll definitely return! Food was very fresh and the carts come by quite often. The dim sum was not as greasy as other places I’ve been to and very flavorful! The staff is very sweet as well. It was a very great experience !

“This is our favorite takeout spot in the area! The staff are always so kind and the food is fresh and delicious. I love getting the dinner or lunch combos- they are a great value and I can usually get at least 2 meals out of them. Highly recommend coming here if you want the best Chinese takeout in Durham!“

The fried rice is actually fresh. Flavor is lighter, but there's so much good sauce, u can easily mix it with the rice.

“Fist time diners on our way to see relatives and we needed a quick bite. Very clean with nice piano background music. The staff is very friendly and the food was served quick and hot. The spring rolls, egg drop and hot n sour soups are good. The shrimp fried rice and chicken n broccoli are great. Too much food to eat at once. Very reasonably priced as well for all that food.“

“been coming here since I moved here in 2018. Fire food never had a complaint. Eggrolls are buss prices have gone up, but that's everywhere, not just here. I've built a friendship with the lady mae shes cool, ash the food is always ready when they say it is cash only ive talked to them about a atm being put in there. They are simply concerned about it being broken into, which you can't blame them. It's Durham. I love their pork wonton soup lomains fried rice, and chicken wings are bomb, so is the lemonade. They also cater; they have never failed me with catering for partys always have it hot, fresh, and ready for pickup. Don't ask for cater, ask for a big tray case closed. Love this place“

“I have been eating at this place for 15 years, maybe longer. I remember when the young woman that takes your order was like 5 years old and would bring you napkins and utensils while you waited for your food.
The food is always hot, flavorful and fresh. As a vegetarian it is nice to find a place with lots of meat free options that are not just veggie fried rice.
If you are looking for an elegant setting and lots of ambiance, you might want to look elsewhere. This is a strip mall place. Since Covid, i have always gotten take away from here. So funny that after all these years, they ask every time to make sure you know that you are ordering from the China Star in Roxboro rd, not Hillsborough Rd.
Family owned and operated, easy convenient and safe location, great food with excellent vegetarian options and very reasonable prices. Pretty dang rare these days.“

“I pass this restaurant frequently and just decided to stop by. My first time ordering takeout from here, I ordered Spicy Pepper Fried Fish. Their customer service is attentive from the time you walk in the door. What I ordered took 17 minutes to complete at best. The meal was still hot by the time I got to my destination. When you order from here I will recommend to order non-spicy or ask that the peppers be removed due to the amount of spicy peppers that were added to the meal; unless you like a lot of spice. Outside of the level of spicy, the food was very good.“

“First of all - the best orange chicken I've ever had, hands down. They give a lot of sauce, and it has just the right amount of pleasant spiciness to it. The portions are massive for the price point. I can usually get at least three meals out of an order. I try to leave a good tip, because the food seems underpriced for the size, to be honest. The rice is good, but not excellent like the chicken.
When I get food here, I genuinely plan my day around it.
The staff are courteous and efficient, with a pleasant demeanor. The one time I ate in, our server was a very welcoming and warm person.
I'd still recommend taking out though probably. The dining area is fine, but a bit dreary in my opinion. I think COVID probably hampered their dining area. There can also be an unfortunate smell, which I'm sure isn't the fault of the restaurant because I've smelled it outside that area as well.
Overall, I highly recommend Orient Garden! Really great food, super nice staff, incredible value.“

“The only chinese eatery in Hayti! New Resident, here! I was spoiled in Winston-Salem with cool places like Mr. Lu's ( If you are ever in Winston-Salem, NC 10 out of 10! Off of 311/ New Walkertown down from WSSU! Fire, every time! And the staff is always friendly! .... ) Wang's Garden is just as good! Sesame Chicken with the Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll Combo is my go to! Was prepared lovely! Still figuring my way around Durham, this is a jewel in the neighborhood Hayti! :)“

“It's not a place to sit down and eat it's a place for takeout. The staff are friendly and very accommodating they will modify your order to your liking. I wouldn't expect vegans or gluten-free individuals to find many options here but definitely vegetarians.“

“We received the best service from Mariah this Sat. It was a party of 25 guests, she serviced use with 100% customer service. the food was great and we were leaving a funeral which was a bad day for all, we left feeling a littler lighter, due to the our server. She is a GEM.“
