“Really good coffee and smoothies. Pastries are homemade and delicious. If you have the expectation of a mom and pop coffee shop you will be pleased in every aspect. There are cute trinkets and jewelry to look at while you wait for your drink. I go here multiple times every trip to avon.“

“The young man working all alone tonight was amazing. I didn’t get his name, but dark hair and foreign accent. There were probably 20 people in line when we arrived. He served each of them efficiently and with a smile. When we were up to order, the owner decided to show up and take over. Fine, except that when he did, he started berating the young employee for “getting into this situation”. The only situation was the fact that he was left alone with a large volume of customers. We were really turned off by the owner’s behavior.“

“We were recommended by Grant over at Buxton Seafood & because we spent $50 on seafood over there we got a free scoop at Chilly Hanks. I think they learned quickly it’s easy to spend 50 bucks on seafood and even easier to sell ice cream to tourists in July even without the coupon so we didn’t get another one when we went back to Buxton Seafood the next day but that’s okay because our experience at Chilly Hanks was amazing free scoop or not. My sister in law and I are both gluten free (she’s celiac and very sensitive!) so the “gluten free waffle cone” option seemed too good to be true and we had to try. Somewhere between Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a graham cracker, the cone was truly something special - even my not gluten free husband loved it - and we believe they are homemade! Even if you aren’t gluten free or dairy free (or have a peanut allergy - we noticed they were peanut free though they have other nuts as options for toppings and in their flavors!) you have to check out CH.“

“The only way you can go wrong here is by not stopping by and buying one of the best treats on the island. We love this place. It is a must for us when we are on vacation in Hatteras. The owner is the sweetest and its a bonus to spend sometime with her.“

“Came here 12-13 years ago during one of the first trips I ever took to OBX when I was a kid. Just came here for the week again and decided that I should go back to one of the best places I remember eating at when I came here originally. Even after the hurricane, this establishment was AWESOME. Even got to talk to the owner for a few minutes and tell him my story of coming here those years ago and they appreciated it beyond anything I would’ve thought! For a part of the OBX that not many people seem to travel to after this storm, this place was busy. Great people, great food, great environment. Making this a tradition from now on to hit this place up everytime I come. These people are great!“
