13 Best Ice Cream Shops in Nags Head

“Very busy in the evenings with a line out the door. They had enough flavors to choose from- Think Orange Leaf style custard.

Seemed to be a favorite amongst the kids and locals. They have some outdoor seating where you can sit and enjoy your selections but honestly with the toppings bar you really want to hang back and wait for people to add on their toppings before you approach if you don't want your custard to melt.

I was mindful of this and had noticed some slower moving, indecisive individuals (do we really need toppings?) and my custard still was melting quickly after a few steps out of the door.

Recommend getting there earlier in the evening when it's less busy. Also observed a mom that dropped their 8 year old off at the ramp and the kid darted off in front of us, cutting us off as we were about to enter the ramp. The mom parked and then joined her son afterwards (really? Lol)

I guess what im trying to say is if you're over 21 and grown but still want to enjoy some treats you should try to go earlier than later to avoid some of the riff raff 😂“

“Stopped for the ice cream fell in love with the cookies. The ice cream is from a NC creamery and I recommend the Lemon Crunch 🍋 But the cookies are a blessing for your taste buds. I got the coconut cookie and my husband raved about the white chocolate macadamia. I wish we had tried this sooner... but it's 10 miles down the beach 😆“

“My niece and nephew loved their ice cream they got! My niece got the playdough flavor and my nephew got the peanut butter caramel cookie dough flavor. Great staff and great vibes! Definitely will be back!!“

“We recently went on a family vacation to OBX & The Spot quickly became our go-to spot, lol! The smoothies were great & my dad was hooked on the acai bowls. My son & I enjoyed The Hulk smoothie but on the last day of our tripped I tried a No Swell & it did not disappoint!!! 10/10“

The only thing not to like was the prices. 5 single scoop orders, throw in 2 waffle cones, 2 squirts of whip cream, 1 sprinkle topping, 1 peanut topping 1 chocolate syrup topping = $41 before tip. Average order $8.20.“

“I’ve been coming to the Outer Banks for 30 years. I remember getting the best burger on the OBX at this restaurant. Apparently they have stopped serving food. That is not the issue. I called up to ask if they no longer serve burgers, and was told “this isn’t McDonald’s”. I don’t appreciate being spoken to that way from a worker of a restaurant I want to spend my money at. If they can’t train their staff to have better customer service, I cannot imagine how poorly they treat customers at the restaurant. Very disappointed.“

“I have been vacationing here in Nags Head for the past 9 years. We LOVE the Outer Banks area. So laid back and relaxing. My husband & I actually own 6 weeks in a villa from Mid February to End of March to escape the Winter snow of upstate NY. One of my MUST VISITS is this Sugar Planet! I love the variety of candies that you can mix by the scoop fulls of my favorites. They also have nostalgic candies and some I’ve never even heard of before. Don’t be fooled by the name 'Sugar Planet'. Clothing, mugs, jewelry, hats, etc. It could almost be your one stop shop for all souvenirs! I’ve been in here 3 times alone in the past two weeks! Michelle was extremely helpful as I was looking for something special to take back for my daughter-in-laws. Together we found the ‘perfect’ items! Thank you Michelle. Today there was a young man training at the checkout, Carlos, was very kind and polite. I do love this Southern Hospitality!“
