“We have been getting Duck donuts here at the original store since 2011. Yesterday I went in to get our first order of the vacation week. We always vacation last week of August and it usually includes my son’s bday. He’ll be 17 on Saturday and heads off to college in a year. We told him we will pause OBX next summer since we don’t know exactly where he’ll go to college. I literally cried ordering my donuts yesterday to the owner and how much Duck OBX has met to our family memories for 13 years! Duck is all about traditions to us. Sunrise, sunsets, crabbing, and of course Duck Donuts! We have loved watching this business turn in to a national franchise. What a beautiful success story. 🍩 🍩🍩🍩“

The coffee is incredibly high quality, and you can really taste the care they put into roasting their own beans right on-site. The vibe is so cozy and artistic, making it the perfect place to just sit back and enjoy a great cup. The staff were super welcoming, and it felt like a true community spot rather than just another coffee shop. I ended up picking up some local art pieces too, which was a nice bonus. Asked for ketchup for the sandwiches and they said they had none and do not plan on providing ketchup in the future. I am a local. May not come back if they do not provide ketchup. Large double storefront just opened here in KDH and plenty of room for inside tables but no tables. Hopefully these issues will be corrected so I can take my granddaughter to this store again.“

“I live around the corner, so this is my go to for coffee if I’m out of milk at home. I don’t know the manager’s name, but he is awesome! He always has a big smile on his face. He remembers me every time. And I notice they have a 100% for their sanitary rating! When was the last time you saw that?! I went this morning and I have to say that was the best coffee I’ve ever gotten from them. I didn’t even have to put sugar in it.“

“Our party of 3 (2 vegetarians and 1 vegan) absolutely loved our lunches here. The owner was friendly and accommodating and obviously puts time and intention into her recipes. We didn't feel like her veggie options were an afterthought, like they were most other places in the OBX. The basil pesto and sun-dried tomato pesto were stellar. The fresh mozzarella was creamy and delicious. Her smoothies and coffee drinks were delicious as well. This was by far our favorite place to eat on our vacation!“

We even stopped on our way home to grab a Dougie Dozen to take with us. If you’re in the area, you HAVE to getcha some.
