“Best burgers at the beach! They have just the right amount of items on the menu, and do them well. Very friendly staff, made to order burgers and you don't mind a little wait for that! Fries and onion rings are yummy too. You know when they're served in paper wrapped in foil and served in a paper bag with a few grease spots, that tells you that what's inside is hot, fresh and juicy!”
“This is the place at Kure Beach where "everybody knows your name" and the friendships are strong. The reason for my most recent was the Retirement Party for a local guy: one of the Awesome bartenders contacted some of the regulars and we put on a great celebration! Our other Rock Star Bartender was serving Cold beer, there was music on the jukebox, shooting pool - sounds like a typical bar?. Nah- it's better- it's Bud&Joe's!”
“I got dinner here on a weekday in April and it was fairly busy. The food quality was a bit better than average and the wait for the food wasn't too long. The waitresses were nice and friendly. This restaurant always seems busy and packed in all the previous summers that I've walked by, so the wait is usually extremely long in the peak season.”
“Went for the famous Tuesday night pork chop special. We had a reservation but had to wait about 15 mins past that, but not a huge deal. They can't ask patrons to hurry up! The salad had the famous dressing that's so yummy but was very light on the lettuce. Mostly beets and chickpeas, which I don't eat but my husband does. So I had only a few bites because there just wasn't much lettuce for 2 people. Still yummy. After waiting a while, the pork chops came out . Hubby's had a balsamic and peach glaze topping which he said was "ok". Mine had the garlic and mozzarella topping, great flavor, but the chops were pretty tough. So were his. They can't butterfly them because they're bone-in. I struggled to cut it because of how tough it was, and also how dark the restaurant was (and when the chop is covered with cheese it's hard to see what was fat and what wasn't). Not our first time, and not our last....service (once seated) was great and we've had great food there before, too. It's about vacation season so better make a reservation!”
“One of our best dining experiences ever!! Everything was hot, delicious and correct. Thanks to Stephan, our waiter, and April, the manager. EXCELLENT service. Please give them a try!!!!”
“Took a bit of time to get through to them on the phone, but well worth the effort.Directions provided were easy to follow, and everything was hop out of the pot fresh.Ordered enough for 3, and we ate it all, no leftovers!Great local seafood in an easy, self-cook at home style.I even brought home my cooking bucket :)”
“WARNING: Do not get a dozen of the croissants without a solid plan to offload them or before you know it you'll have eaten like 5 of them like I did and now I need a gym membership and oh god what is happening to my life”
“We grab burgers from there every time we're in CB. We make the trip every few weeks and never miss it. So, so good! No dine in, wait outside for your order to be called, but it's SOOOOOOO worth it. Best fries I've ever had too.”
“Great lunch sitting outside on a beautiful day. Good menu selection. Nice service too, the owner perhaps? Dog friendly, outside at least. Too bad we're not local!”
“We tried the Flo Latte and spiced brown sugar latte, both with oat milk. They were ok. However, the service was excellent and because of that we would try it again.”
“This place is so cute! The staff were welcoming and gave me good recommendations, and the strawberry mint matcha was AMAZING. The Buddha bowl was good, but really filling. Overall great place!”
“Fresh ingredients with emphasis on using local products. Approachable menu with daily specials that really show off the chef's creativity.Kid-friendliness: High Chair Available”
“Went to the Surf City location. Best ice cream I've had since moving here 3.5 yrs ago. Friendly service, spotless, outdoor benches and inside tables. Can't wait for the one in porters neck to open.”
“This spot has been on list to try for a while now and I finally got the chance to stop in. It was totally worth the wait. We were greeted with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. I was given a menu but I asked what was a favorite vegan dish. I decided on the owner’s favorite the ramen noodle dish with tofu. This is a ramen dish without a broth and it served with a white creamy goodness sauce!!! They offer a peanut sauce as well but I went with a ginger sauce. To topIt off I got the coconut cake with the blood orange filling…there are literally no words ?…I’m speechless and so happy with my dinner!!!!My expectations were far exceeded!!! The food was outstanding!!! Service was WOW!!!Not that it really matters but the bathroom wallpaper was adorable too.”
“This is THE place to your barbeque fix! The main entrées and the sides are always on-point. Before you leave, be sure to hit up their Sauce Bar to gather all the sauces and pickles and hots you need. Oh--and be sure to get a large banana pudding (or two) plus a medium cobbler of the day. You'll thank me forever!”
“The real deal. Good food. Good people. Good location. Crabcakes could use some chunks of crab in my opinion, but they weren't that sort of cake. (I get it.) Potato salad was a work of art. These sorts of straightforward, basic, reasonable seafood places on the water that haven't deteriorated into tourist traps are becoming rare these days post-pandemic, it seems. The locals seem to keep it afloat during the off-season. Go eat there and enjoy *what* it is *while* it is. Don't take it for granted. Get there early. Just sayin'.”
“Where do I start?! The moment you step in the door you know it will be an experience. Start with oysters on the half shell, she crab soup, and then filet and lobster. We ended with apple bread pudding alamode. Off the charts amazing! Friendly service!”
“If you let me give more stars I would this place is amazing Eric is one of the sweetest nicest guys he helps you if you're hungry and he makes some of the best food I've ever had thank ”
“Such a fun place to check out when visiting the area! The gelato flights are so much fun, and a very unique experience. There are plenty of wine and bear options, and the outdoor patio area is great to sit, hang out, and listen to live music.”
“My sisters and I have traveled the country in search of the best pimento cheese and The Southerly has it! Homemade and on top of a cheddar biscuit with egg - it will change your life. This is a grab and go breakfast spot with homemade biscuits made from scratch with an incredibly friendly staff.”
“You go in the cooler and pick your own beverage. There are SO many choices! The decor is so eclectic. It's a lot to take in at first, but SO much fun to check out. Definitely a repeat!”
“Let me tell you what a gem this place is in Wilmington. If you would like to taste the best pancakes in Wilmington, you should come here and enjoy the flavors. I had to order twice The Caribbean pleasure flavor because it was so tasty. This restaurant is Egg Benedict’ Master. Their Hollandaise sauce is unmatched and the way the eggs are perfectly cooked and pouched. I ordered the Steak Egg Benedict and it was so delicious. Expect to wait outside for at least 15 minutes because they always have a waiting line, but it’s for a good reason: the food is worth every penny and the service is top notch. The owner checks every table if they need anything. It’s a must visit restaurant if you happen to visit Carolina Beach.”
“Great place that I wouldn’t hesitate to visit the next time I’m in CB. Attentive staff, good portions, good cost. I can imagine this place fills up quick in the summer time since it’s just a quick walk from the beach. Definitely worth a visit if you’re hungry!”
“Chef Dustin has a beautiful thing going here. The flavors of the shrimp and grits, shrimp salad, and the palomas were top notch. We had a culinary experience that we haven't had in a while. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, the outside is relaxed.I was worried this place would be a tourist trap but it was nothing like that.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free items are marked on the menu.”
“Wonderful French onion soup on the menu and it was flavor dense with amazing rye sourdough croutons.. we try to try something different every time we go because everything is so wonderful .. And the service is always great. Love both Carl amd Carolina. Thanks Southern for taking such good care of us.”
“I just stopped by and tried some of your sweets. I am totally blown away. Not only does it look good it taste amazing and fresh. the lady helping me was so nice and kind. Best crossoint I have ever had!”

“We visited for our 1 year anniversary and the service was great, the ambience was cozy and inviting, the salad was off the charts literally, yummy tequila sunrise cocktail, and the steak was cooked PERFECTLY which is rare ( no pun intended ;)I'm posting a card the restaurant gave us after dinner because they overheard it was our anniversary. It was our first visit & we will definitely be back!!!”
“Everything just fits here.Cozy ambience, great atmosphere and great atmosphere as well as conversations. All together with interesting people, wine and beer. This would be my living room if I lived here.Thank you for the experience and the hospitality.”
