We've got Monroe's top Mexican restaurants covered for you.
“Best place I've eaten in a while. Fantastic service that knows that front of house charm matters. Clean building with an open kitchen and I know that open kitchens have to work much harder to maintain cleaning and order. Redicously large helping thats around 14 a person with a giant fresh takeout cup of tea and Lime. Fabiana was great.“
“We decided to stop by and see the Mariachi band. It was fun and they sounded great! The food was overall good, but small details could be improved for a 5 star. The waitress was very friendly and was bilingual so there was no worries for me as I only speak English. The atmosphere was very cheerful and inviting. The decor was very authentic and beautiful as it looked like the chairs and tables were hand painted. We will definitely be back!“
“Visited before 12p Enjoyed a torta de huevo y chorizo with an iced Jamaica tea (hibiscus) takeout Inexpensive AND DELICIOUSCan easily share their $9 sandwich Will definitely return and try their $3 fresh tacos!!! Inside Monroe Crossing Mall“
“I dont think they serve alcohol but taco-game murders the competition. If you're out here for Margs & Chimichongas; go somewhere else. If you're serious about tacos this is the spot. This place can handle very large orders, fast, no-problem.Trumpo & Carne Asada tacos to-go in this pic..“
“This Monterrey location is superior to all others. The food here is delicious across the board. The sweet tea is consistently good. The mixed drinks, especially their strawberry mojito, are on point! I haven't found anything wrong with this location. The staff is super nice. The restaurant is always clean. There is sometimes a short wait, but they'll get you in quickly as possible. They have live music on certain nights. They will sing a happy birthday song. It's an all-around great restaurant.“
“Best birrias and tacos in Monroe. Moving from Florida we had a hard time finding good tacos and birrias around, someone recommended me this place. Service was okay, but it's understandable it's a small place where not a lot people eat in.In regard of food quality, is was great, no complains. Been twice and is constant.Recommend!“
“I dined in and had a take out, but the young waitress has no sense. First, she gave me a burning hot skillet without a handel cover, and it burned my fingers. I had to ask for a cup of ice to cool my fingers. She has ZERO SENSE on how to pack the food. I got a take out shrimp meal with a salad and rice. She was dumb enough to pack the salad under a sauce full of shrimp. I told her that she is supposed to keep the cold stuff in a separate box because when I'm ready to eat in 4 to 5 hours, the lettuce salad will be soggy and nasty. Her dumb response was " THAT IS HOW WE PACK IT HERE."That means you don't believe in using your brain at all?“
“Location can be deceiving, but don't let that fool you. Food is good, brought to you in a matter of minutes, servers are attentive, overall a pretty good experience. The carne asada tacos are stuffed nicely. 3 of those can tame anyone's hunger; and the tripas tacos are superb. Be careful with the salsas, they're hot. My favorite was the green one.Parking: Parking spots are limited at front of building, due to adjacent businesses, but parking lot is pretty big.“
“Love this place! Have for years. My family tends to pick this place as the place we go for birthdays and when we have family in town. Yummy, yummy, yummy! I love their queso dip.Kid-friendliness: The kids plates have just the right amount of food. Plus the kids really enjoyed it!“
“We relocated from IL to Indian Trail, NC about a year ago. It has been challenging trying to locate a good authentic Mexican restaurant. My wife and I are very picky and have high expectations. I found this restaurant here in Yelp and read the reviews. We jumped in our vehicle and traveled about 25 minutes to try it. This place is very good and met our expectations. The restaurant needs some TLC, but the food is very good. My wife really likes the chicken tacos and I like the pastor, carne asada and chicken. The chips are fresh, and the pico de gallo is fantastic. I highly recommend the tortas too. We have visited twice since posting this review, and we'll be visiting without hesitation to try their soups and sopes. One drink I highly recommend is Champurado as a dessert beverage. The waitresses are friendly, patient, and enjoy to laugh. Remember, the restaurant needs attention, but they received a score over 95% from the health department which is better than higher end places.“
“My son Jack and I had a wonderful dinner together. I ordered my favorite, the Jocelyn Special (chicken enchiladas with cheese sauce), and he ordered a kids meal taco combo. The service & food were amazing! We love this place and will certainly be back.“
“During my visit to Neveria El Chavo ice cream parlor with my family, we unfortunately couldn't enjoy their ice cream due to a peanut allergy within our group. Despite not being able to taste their creations, I still want to give them a five-star review for their commendable practices and excellent service. One remarkable aspect of Neveria El Chavo is that they make their ice cream by hand. This dedication to crafting their own creations shows their commitment to quality and uniqueness. I appreciate the effort they put into their products, even though I couldn't personally experience them. The staff at Neveria El Chavo were friendly and attentive. I especially liked how the owner came out to ask about our decision to leave. This personal touch, along with their genuine interest in customer feedback, showcases their dedication to providing the best experience possible. Surveying customers about their experiences is a great business practice that demonstrates their commitment to continuous improvement. While I couldn't indulge in their ice cream due to the peanut allergy concerns, I would highly recommend Neveria El Chavo to those without peanut allergies. Their handmade ice cream and friendly service create a promising atmosphere for a delightful treat. Don't hesitate to give them a try if you have the opportunity.Overall, Neveria El Chavo's commitment to crafting their own ice cream, friendly service, and genuine interest in customer feedback deserve high praise, despite my inability to taste their offerings.“
“This place is definitely a favorite to get warm tortillas! And a delicious barbecue with rice, if you don't feel like cooking on Sunday this can be a delicious and economical option! You can even buy your sauces right there, without having to get out of your car on a rainy day??✨️“
“Was our first visit. I assume because it was around midnight on Saturday night, they have the music loud for their customers? It was so loud that I had to yell at my wife, who was sitting just across from me.I ordered a simply Quesadilia. Imo, the meat that was on it was not hamburger meat.If it was, it was prepared completely differently than any hamburger meat I have tasted in 52 years. My wife ordered a taco salad. She said it was okay, but it was definitely not good. The sweet tea wasn't very sweet at all. The lady that came to the table was very friendly, and spoke English pretty well. I feel bad for this review. If it had not been SO loud and the food had some kind of flavoring, I would have left a much higher rating. I definitely don't think we will be returning. For what food we got. in my opinion, it was not work $32.50. But I did leave the usual 15% for the lady.Again. I do not like leaving such a low rating. Also, maybe it was bad timing? Idk?but I definitely saw no reason to be frisked at the door either. I suppose because I have long hair and look like a biker or maybe even a ( troublemaker), that was why. But either way, it wasn't a good experience at al!!!!!!!Parking: They have an average sized park lot for the size of the restaurant. Which neither are very big.Kid-friendliness: I saw probably 6 or 7 smaller children in their with their families. When I say children, I mean 8 to 12 years old.Wheelchair accessibility: Entrance has where anyone confined to a wheel chair has easy access to and from the restaurant. With no issues or curbs obstructing them in any way.“
“Very good, when you get the right servers. If you get the wrong server, expect a pretty unpleasant experience of miscommunication and inconsistency in your order. I absolutely love this place when they are firing on all cylinders. They need to desperately work on training and consistency in regards to assisting their non-Hispanic customers that can't communicate with some of the servers. When things go well, the food is 5 stars, when they don't it's a 2 star experience. Very cute/clean restaurant in an unassuming tiny strip mall.“
