“I had the pizza, which, when fresh and right from oven, was the best I've had in the US. Not kidding. Only the one I fix, my father makes, or ones I've had in Italy were better. It took like 20-30 minutes so u know it was fresh. They have a thin and thick crust available. There is a Subway and McDonald's right across the street. Just don't. Support local business and eat here. The sandwiches and burgers others were eating looked good too. Highly recommend.“

“I got the privilege to eat at Mckinney's for breakfast on my birthday. It was so good. I felt like I was at my grandma's house. I loved the environment and the sweetest people that work there. Definitely going back.“

But check the hours or call to see if they’re open before you go. When we were here in June 2024, they were only open Saturday and Sundays from 1 - 5 pm.

Rooms: Clean and accommodating. Colonial charm.

Walkability: Everything was within walking distance of 5 to 7 minutes.

Food & drinks: The food was amazing. We tried several items and enjoyed everything. I do not typically order steak as I always seemed to get disappointed. I had the Prime NY Strip, and it was perfectly cooked and as tender and juicy as it should be. Absolutely fantastic!“

“Naynay took amazing care of us! We were a walking party of 14 on a busy weekend afternoon. We were quoted and hour wait and it was maybe 40 minutes.
We were sat all together and Naynay was right there greeting and welcoming us with a fabulous smile and amazing attitude!
She very quickly took our drink and appetizer orders, and before all of the drinks came out, she was already taking our food orders. Food came out really really fast. all of it was hot and everybody got served within a few minutes and nobody really had to wave to eat everything we had was great. I have the JD burger with fried that potato chip were fabulous. The mac & cheese bites are amazing. The pretzel looks great. Everybody’s seem to love the French dip and the fried bologna sandwich as well“

“We're visiting the Banner Elk area and been to this restaurant twice each time. It's been fantastic. Great service. Especially Ashlee and Lilly Will the bartender Joe the manager and Felix who could makes the most amazing coffees and desserts.
Appetizers tuna sushi crab cake, goat cheese salad, Brussel sprouts,
Entrees; Trout, Shrimp Parmesan, Sea Bass All delicious and decent portions.
Friday night the music and entertainment just added to our fantastic experience.

“I had a great evening with SaraJoe as my waitress/ bartender. Sara is funny and 'on point' with drinks and service.The ambiance is just as you'd expect for a middle upper class mountain town, amazing! I tried the pizza it was great but not my favorite. There is a full menu and a good beer selection on tap.Make the trip to Banner Elk Cafe Sara Jo is a server worth the ride for impeccableservice and a great sense of humor“

“They have a extensive menu with many choices. On a busy Sunday morning, we were seated quickly, but had to wait a while for a waitress to come and take our order. Oddly, they offered coffee immediately, but not water. When the server brought our food, we asked for water, and it took a while. We were half way through our meal before water arrived.
My wife had a mushroom based omelet which was disappointing because it was not very substantial, mushrooms barely noticeable, mostly red pepper and egg, fried on both sides.
I had better luck with the waffle which was tasty with chopped fresh strawberries sprinkled on top.
We asked for coffee refill, which was delayed by the need to brew a new pot. As compensation, the restaurant gave us 2 large coffees to go.“
