“The staff and location are amazing! We recently celebrated my birthday and they allow me to bring food and a birthday cake for my guest. I was able to set up a section with all my birthday decorations and catering. They were very professional and very attentive. This location is cozy and perfect for small events or gatherings. “One of my favorite live music joints in town. All their programming is excellent, but I especially enjoy Bill Hannah's jazz sessions on Monday night. Personnel is super cool, and they even have a room for photo and other arts exhibits. Don't miss it!“

“Brazilian Way Sports Bar is a fantastic spot in Matthews! They just reopened by a new administration! The lively atmosphere, authentic live music, and delicious Brazilian food make every visit special. The staff are welcoming and attentive, and there’s always a great vibe—whether you’re watching a game, listening to great music or just hanging out. Highly recommend for a fun night out. “I can’t say enough about my incredible experience at Mexicali Restaurant! From the moment I walked in, I was met with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
The service was absolutely outstanding. Brithney and Stefanie went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, offering excellent recommendations and ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the meal.
Now, onto the food—wow! I started with the guacamole, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The sopes were an absolute highlight: crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and topped with the most delicious ingredients. A pitcher of margaritas was the perfect pairing—refreshing, tangy, and just the right amount of kick. To top it all off, the flan was the grand finale I didn’t know I needed: creamy, silky, and a perfect blend of sweetness to end the meal on a high note.
Mexicali Restaurant delivers not just incredible food but an exceptional dining experience, thanks to amazing servers like Brithney and Stefanie. I’ll definitely be back soon and recommending this spot to everyone I know!“

I don’t go out much. My usual nightlife consists of refrigerator light and a cozy existential crisis. But in the spirit of not regretting life on my deathbed (which feels closer every time I eat fried mushrooms), I ventured to Midtown Country Club.
And you know what? I had fun. Like, honest-to-goodness, looked-up-darts-on-Amazon-after kind of fun. Learned how to play darts with some tragically unbalanced plastic ones, and still managed to feel like an Olympic athlete in the glow of good vibes.
Shoutout to the bartender—this man is a sober cocktail sorcerer. I asked for something citrusy, low sugar, no alcohol, and he handed me a cup of mystery that tasted like a sunset on a fresh start. Give that man a bonus and a playlist deal.
The crowd? Surprisingly lovely. Diverse, relaxed, unbothered. And as someone who usually stiffens up around groups of gays I don’t know (read: trauma, shade, and past brunches), Sean’s friends were actually warm and welcoming. It reshaped some deep-seated expectations I didn’t realize I was still carrying.
All in all, 5 stars for a Tuesday night that gave me community, a tasty mocktail, and a hobby that now requires wrist coordination and a budget.

“It's been years since I have had food at a Hickory Tavern. I ordered the Smokehouse burger, and it was delicious. It came out fairly quickly. Our server was really good. I can't remember her name, but she was working the bar on December 9th, we were at table 33 (the three sisters). We want to thank her again! She was quick, nice, and understanding.“

“We love Cornerstone. It’s got a neighborhood vibe that’s accessible. Lots of TVs for your favorite events, great cocktails , large beer selection. But the food is great! Try the best mozzarella sticks you ever had, hot stretchy delicious cheese with the perfect crust. We had fish and chips tonight, just delicious.

“Came to Hickory Tavern for the first time tonight and all I can say is Wow, my expectations were exceeded. The food was delicious and our server Kara was amazing, she did a great job. She was very sweet and attentive and able to answer all of our questions. She suggested the spinach dip and it was so good we ended up getting a second one …. LOL. I also got the Chicken & Rice, my husband the Pow Pow shrimp. Sooo good, 12/10. We will definitely be coming back soon and requesting Kara again as our server. Thanks for a great experience, HT!!!“
“Both my girls learned to skate here. The program and coaches were engaging and knew how to get the kids moving. Now 3 years later we are a part of the girls hockey program and still love this rink and staff.“
“This was a really nice place to visit and have a meal. We were in town for business and wanted to eat somewhere other than a chain restaurant. The food here was very good and hot when it arrived at the table. The service was very good and we felt like we were being taken care of. Everyone working there played a part in making sure we had everything we needed. If you like pub food, this is definitely the place to go!!“

“I just wanted to send a big thank you to the staff that were in front of the store tonight taking care of peoples orders and seating them. I had ordered a pizza bowl and forgot to add their delicious meatballs. So when I came to pick it up, I told them about what I missed when I ordered it. “My kids and I enjoyed eating at Applebees! The food was great, the service was excellent! I even had forgotten my card to pay with and because I had a picture of it on my cellphone, the server was able to enter it manually and verify that I was the cardholder via my ID. I definitely recommend this place!
