“Great pub! Excellent service with authentic menu options. We have had lunch in the dining area as well as dinner at the bar. Both are great. Fish and chips is a favorite and for good reason. The fish is perfectly battered and crispy. Fries are well seasoned. Tartar sauce is tangy and creamy. Malt vinegar is available as well as ketchup. The special seasoning on the burger is very special. The burger was perfectly cooked to medium as ordered and piping hot. Onion rings are surprisingly awesome. My husband didn't offer to share- and he is usually quick to share. I stole one and it was worth the glare I got! Lots of beverage options including a winter cocktail menu. They also do an excellent job on layered drafts. Our favorite is the snakebite - guiness and cider. Smithwicks on draft, also a great choice. Staff is friendly and quick to clear tables and plates. Even when it's very busy, waiting patrons are not waiting very long.“

“My wife and I had a fantastic dinner experience at 131 Main! The atmosphere is perfect for upscale casual dining - inviting and stylish. Our server, Kellie, was top-notch. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure our experience was great.The food came out incredibly fast, in about 10 minutes, and everything was piping hot. We could tell the ingredients were fresh by the taste and perfect seasoning. I had the slow roasted chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken itself was juicy and flavorful, and the smashed potatoes were a perfect complement. My wife ordered the crabcakes, and they were loaded with succulent crabmeat. We had a perfectly chilled bottle and split several appetizers with friends. The cranberry and goat cheese was excellent, as was the pimento cheese and marinated olives. “Wow. First off service was very southern and hospitable. The waitress made an effort to check in and give suggestions as it was out first time. She even went over the different sauces that were on the table! The food was great as well. Our appetizer was the chicarrons and they were still sizzlings, so extra pints on that. We got a meat bbq platter and the salmon meal. Both had their fare share of salt but I enjoyed the experience of North Carolina bbq. The aesthetic of the restaurant also makes this place memorable. You have the history in the building and nice spot in the center of town.“

“I've never had a bad meal at the Flying Biscuit. We normally go to the Park Rd location but came to this location for the first time. Where there would normally be a long wait on the weekends, we got in right away because we were willing to sit at the bar. The food was prepared quickly but was still fresh and hot. I love that they offer so many non-pork options. In fact, besides bacon, they don't serve potk but they offer turkey bacon, chicken sausage and this time I tried chicken chorizo. Their grits are always creamy, the biscuits are always fluffy. I often have their biscuits and gravy because it's made with chicken sausage and its amazing and you can't find that anywhere else but the grits bowl with chicken chorizo was amazing and I'll have that again as well. You just can't go wrong.I only gave 4 stars for service because our server was nice but it was hard to get her attention and ultimately it took awhile for us to get our bill.Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for non pork esters“

Standard pub fare - wings, burgers, flatbreads, appetizers, etc. we love the wings. The tater tots and onion rings and fries are all crispy and delicious. A great spot to watch sports. Don't come if Alabama is playing football. They were slammed busy today at 5pm due to basketball and the service didn't suffer for it. The place was full plus a birthday party and UNC game followed by a NC State game and staff rocked it. Bravo!“

And if the bar is busy, you're eating too close to the heavy drinkers to enjoy a family meal. “My daughter introduced me to the Uptown Tea Shop in Waxhaw a couple of months ago by buying some loose leaf tea for me. It wasn’t until yesterday that I went to the shop with her to see for myself. From the outside, you see a house and there are three shops inside. The quality of the decor could be slightly upgraded. The Uptown Tea Shop is in a medium size bedroom which has been converted to a little store.Here against the walls are nearly every flavor and types of loose leaf teas you can imagine. I typically like herbal teas and caffeine free teas and finding something new was fairly easy. There are also tea accessories such as canisters to keep your teas fresh. The prices I found to be inline with the quality of the teas. The customer service associate was polite, helpful and welcoming; needless to say I will be supporting this small business in the future.“
