In particular, the waitress with the slicked-back hair has a way of elevating every visit; she’s made several special occasions truly memorable. The restaurant is almost always busy, and for good reason. Because seating can be difficult to secure, I strongly recommend making an RSVP ahead of time. “After a very long day, I came in get a bite to eat before I went back to traveling. The food is delicious. The staff is incredible. They will go the extra mile for you (literally). After ordering and eating entirely too much delicious food the couple who owns the restaurant gave me a ride to the bus station. The woman who served me was kind and kept me company while I was alone. Really one of the best experiences I have had in the entire state of New Jersey. Thankful for people like you.“

“The food is top notch. From the soup to the sushi. Even the ice cream is delicious. What really bothers me though is the service. There is a 90 minute time limit which I get but when you are rushed to get out by an hour that’s not right. Also when you’re hounding tables waiting to literally take a plate because you have nothing else to do that’s a problem. Finally when you’re coming up to tables and asking them for platters back because you don’t have enough supposedly that’s not good either. Last night I was hounded constantly. Twice I had people tell me to move my sushi to my paper plate because they needed the platter. May I suggest buying more platters. Love the food and yes I know I’ll be back but the service was ridiculous in your face. Don’t come here for date night because they don’t leave you alone“

“Stopped in for lunch with my wife the other day, our first time here and I'm so happy we came. The food food delicious, top notch sushi, fresh and delicious. The Goyza dumplings probably the best I've ever had, and that Toro just melted in your mouth. We found our sushi spot in the area! Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.“

“We had dinner at Matsu on Friday......its a little gem in Hillsdale. We were pleasantly surprised, by the quality and quantity of the food. The Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. They very friendly and warm. It was a most enjoyable dinner. We have ordered food to takeout but hadn't been inside the restaurant since the pandemic.... We will definitely go again soon. It was a great experience and we both recommend you give it a try!“

“Great assortment of fresh raw fish- mackerel, white n red tuna, yellowtail, in sashimi sushi platter. Friend had pine box- chicken teriyaki, spring roll n sushi- comes with soup n salad. Food was served quickly and food was delicious.
Crowded on weekend night- does tremendous take out business. Bring your own. Staff is friendly and eager to please.“

“Wow! The fish is so fresh, and buttery, comparable to omakase without the price tag.

I usually don’t order sushi in the summer considering the heat, but this spot has such high quality fish that I’ve ordered 4 times this week in 98 degree weather.

The salmon pieces melt in your mouth, I dream of them.
The tamago is perfectly done, tender, and not too sweet.

The Triple Alliance roll was my favorite. The salmon was perfectly balanced with a bit of spice, sweet eel sauce, & refreshing mango.

Saddle River roll and spicy salmon rolls were also delightful, but a bit too much crunch for my taste.

In my opinion, the dressing that came with the garden salad, not that anyone gets sushi for the salad, needed a bit more ginger and sweetness.

So excited to have found my new go to sushi spot.“
