“Ordered from here for the first time. Got unagi don and the sashimi deluxe. Both came with miso soup. I asked for substitutions in fish and they gave me exactly what I asked for. The sashimi was good for the most part, the salmon was the best part, melted in my mouth and delicious. The other fish were good too. The unagi don was good but a bit too salty, so that was a little disappointing. I haven't tried the miso soup yet.“

We wait a little more of what we expected.

“I ordered take out from here for the first time and I will definitely be back ! I got the 2 roll all day special, spicy shrimp and yellowtail avocado roll. The seafood is super fresh, they don’t use a lot of rice which I love. Miso soup was also delicious.“

“Positive vibes and a great experience. I’ve visited this place several times in person, and I’ve also done takeout a couple of times. The most recent time was takeout. I needed to feed a small group and asked about platter offerings, but was told they don’t have any set menus. They asked what I was looking for and made some recommendations to fit my needs and requested budget.

To say that I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. They delivered and then some. It was a combination of various sushi, regular rolls, and specialty rolls.

They also asked about any potential allergies in the group, along with any specific preferences or dislikes.

The food was fantastic in taste and presentation. It was well packed and came with plenty of ginger, wasabi, and miso soup. They also gave me delicious tea while I waited for them to complete my order.

“Ordered via GrubHub for a late Friday night dinner when the sushi craving hit. I ordered a tuna bowl, and hubby had a salmon bowl. All of the sushi bar bowls come with edamame, miso soup, seaweed salad, kani salad, regular salad (in this case, it was arugula), and avocado. The fish came in huge chunks, lightly marinaded, and tasted fresh. No complaints. I’d order again and try some actual rolls next time. I saw on their menu a pretty good deal for lunch - $12.50 for three regular rolls, so I’ll have to check that out.“

“After a very long day, I came in get a bite to eat before I went back to traveling. The food is delicious. The staff is incredible. They will go the extra mile for you (literally). After ordering and eating entirely too much delicious food the couple who owns the restaurant gave me a ride to the bus station. The woman who served me was kind and kept me company while I was alone. Really one of the best experiences I have had in the entire state of New Jersey. Thankful for people like you.“

“Sushi and food is pretty good overall but the service at this place is really hit or miss. There are two (I believe) revolving servers/people who answer the phone. The younger server is very polite and friendly. However the other is incredibly rude, on the phone, and in person. I ordered from this place very often in the past but I will no longer be ordering from here. His attitude makes it not worth it for me. Overall if you’re just looking for good sushi this place is fine, but don’t expect good service.“

“We had dinner at Matsu on Friday......its a little gem in Hillsdale. We were pleasantly surprised, by the quality and quantity of the food. The Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We visited for a family gathering and were shown to a private room; the service was attentive, and they kept refilling the delicious side dishes.
The sashimi was fresh, as was all the seafood. There was a wide variety of tasty accompanying dishes, and the staff were all friendly.
The aged kimchi was particularly outstanding—the assorted sashimi paired with it was truly delicious.
The portions were so generous that they even packed up the spicy fish stew for us to take home.

I have been to a lot of sushi restaurants over the years, and this place consistently delivers some of the freshest, most delicious food and friendliest service around. “The food is top notch. From the soup to the sushi. Even the ice cream is delicious. What really bothers me though is the service. There is a 90 minute time limit which I get but when you are rushed to get out by an hour that’s not right. Also when you’re hounding tables waiting to literally take a plate because you have nothing else to do that’s a problem. Finally when you’re coming up to tables and asking them for platters back because you don’t have enough supposedly that’s not good either. Last night I was hounded constantly. Twice I had people tell me to move my sushi to my paper plate because they needed the platter. May I suggest buying more platters. Love the food and yes I know I’ll be back but the service was ridiculous in your face. Don’t come here for date night because they don’t leave you alone“
