They are always so nice and happy when I arrive to pick up my order. One day I ordered delivery and within 30 minutes the order was at my door. “One of the best Japanese and Chinese restaurants you find out there. This place is just as good as I remember it. Ive been coming here for YEARS(ever since I was a kid)and i went earlier today and the experience i had was great! the food came fast and i ordered some sushi rolls and a miso soup and my mom got the Garden salad and a Miso soup and 2 sushi rolls. Waiter was super nice and i was a little sad to see the resturant so empty with such good food! ever since the Green Dragon fire incident, Empire Hunan is the only chinese AND japanese cuisine in fair lawn, and honestly one of the best in the whole Tri state area. 100% reccommend coming here and my mom is gluten free strictly, and they had good options for her like gluten free soy sauce, no crunchies in the sushi(if you ask)and also gave me a free appetizer(im not gluten free). Overall, this place deserves a 5 star and Empire Hunan probably can compete with Poke Express, which is a 4.9 star rating, if even better food and a wayyyy better dining expierence(Sorry Gina). Anyways to wrap it up if you ever want a place to spend time with family, eat out, or hang out with freinds this is a great place to do so!!!!“

“Positive vibes and a great experience. I’ve visited this place several times in person, and I’ve also done takeout a couple of times. The most recent time was takeout. I needed to feed a small group and asked about platter offerings, but was told they don’t have any set menus. They asked what I was looking for and made some recommendations to fit my needs and requested budget.

To say that I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. They delivered and then some. It was a combination of various sushi, regular rolls, and specialty rolls.

They also asked about any potential allergies in the group, along with any specific preferences or dislikes.

The food was fantastic in taste and presentation. It was well packed and came with plenty of ginger, wasabi, and miso soup. They also gave me delicious tea while I waited for them to complete my order.

“Ordered via GrubHub for a late Friday night dinner when the sushi craving hit. I ordered a tuna bowl, and hubby had a salmon bowl. All of the sushi bar bowls come with edamame, miso soup, seaweed salad, kani salad, regular salad (in this case, it was arugula), and avocado. The fish came in huge chunks, lightly marinaded, and tasted fresh. No complaints. I’d order again and try some actual rolls next time. I saw on their menu a pretty good deal for lunch - $12.50 for three regular rolls, so I’ll have to check that out.“

The younger server is very polite and friendly. However the other is incredibly rude, on the phone, and in person. I ordered from this place very often in the past but I will no longer be ordering from here. His attitude makes it not worth it for me. Overall if you’re just looking for good sushi this place is fine, but don’t expect good service.“

We visited for a family gathering and were shown to a private room; the service was attentive, and they kept refilling the delicious side dishes.
The sashimi was fresh, as was all the seafood. There was a wide variety of tasty accompanying dishes, and the staff were all friendly.
The aged kimchi was particularly outstanding—the assorted sashimi paired with it was truly delicious.

“We had dinner at Matsu on Friday......its a little gem in Hillsdale. We were pleasantly surprised, by the quality and quantity of the food. The Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. “The food is top notch. From the soup to the sushi. Even the ice cream is delicious. What really bothers me though is the service. There is a 90 minute time limit which I get but when you are rushed to get out by an hour that’s not right. Also when you’re hounding tables waiting to literally take a plate because you have nothing else to do that’s a problem. Finally when you’re coming up to tables and asking them for platters back because you don’t have enough supposedly that’s not good either. Last night I was hounded constantly. Twice I had people tell me to move my sushi to my paper plate because they needed the platter. May I suggest buying more platters. Love the food and yes I know I’ll be back but the service was ridiculous in your face. Don’t come here for date night because they don’t leave you alone“
