Honestly, I’d recommend this place to all my friends!“

“My wife and I stopped by to grab a quick bite since we were in the area. We were greeted by the host with open arms. Our intentions were to take the food home but the host was very friendly so we stayed for well over an hour. We even ordered food for the next day and it tasted as if it was just make. The food was very good.
They had a lunch special where you got to appetizers with the purchase of an entree. We had dumplings and a miso salad with my entree of pineapple fried rice and it was great!!

“Always friendly and service is good. Food cooked and ready for pickup promptly. I love the board where you can add a sadaqa (charity) meal for someone to eat. You purchase an item on the menu and pin it to the board. When someone comes in who is needy, They just pick a ticket from the board and they can eat. What a novel idea to spread around.“

“The best fried fish in town. Small husband and wife joint. Nothing fancy to witness but you can appreciate the food they serve it’s such a hidden gem and it’s my all time favorite spot. Took my friend here for lunch today for the first time and he said the best beans in this area hands down.“

“I’ve been a customer at DUNCAN’S for many, many years. It used to be on the corner of Vanderbilt and Myrtle Avenues it was good then and it’s even better now.“

“Fancy fish always has good quality fish it may not look like anything from the outside but the food is good. I usually go for the fried fish flounder with yuca fries and a salad. The place is amazing considering the price and service. Always great people working behind the counter.

Parking: Parking kind of sucks in this area however if you look around you can find a spot.“

“Had a great time at Tavern29! We gathered for a friend’s birthday lunch, and the place had such a warm, welcoming vibe—you never feel rushed to finish and leave.

I had one of the best medium-cooked steaks I’ve had in a while—perfectly done and seasoned just right. Full of flavor and cooked exactly how I like it.

The atmosphere was relaxed and not too loud, so it was easy to have a real conversation without shouting.

Definitely a great spot for gatherings, good food, and chill conversation. Will be back!“

“Agreed that this place is the best bang for your buck if you're craving fried fish! Portions are huge...fish was good , the rice was really good and the leafy green salad was unexpectedly really, really good. Sodas reasonably priced and staff was friendly and quick! Clams needed more seasoning though.“

“Had an engagement party here and the staff was amazing!! Food was excellent. They ensured our space was reserved and we had plenty of space. Not to mention it was during the Knicks/celtics game and was crowded. They checked on us often and were very attentive. I strongly recommend that people consider this bar for big events. “I stopped by here after getting off the train I was a little hungry I ordered boneless chicken they were a little hard I didn’t care cause I was hungry the manager ( Indian man ) saw me struggling to eat them cause they were hard came to me and apologized offer me another order and came and gave me an order of fries and apologized for a fast food restaurant I was surprised normally they don’t care I really appreciate this he was very nice that’s how you take care of your guest and I hope his establishment is very successful excellent customer service“

“Wow, never had their chicken before as I usually just get their burgers since I like thinner burger patties. I ordered two breast pieces and one thigh and got the potato wedges. Was so good I ate all 3 pieces of chicken, which is unheard for me as I usually only eat one or two, and all but maybe 5 wedges. Was delicious, hit the spot for sure. Food was also nice and hot and I got a ton of wedges, not some little fistful thrown in. The people that work there are also very nice, polite, and helpful. Now that I know how good their chicken is I'll be buying that from them a lot more often.“

“I'm not sure if it's a store tradition, but I should have known that you were going to serve me cold mac and cheese. Overall, the fried whiting dinner was excellent, and the fried shrimp dinner was passable but a little overcooked. Nevertheless, I gave you guys four stars without a doubt.“

“Someone told me they had really good fried fish so I had to check it out!! Turns out it really is good! I got a 3 piece whiting with rice and a can of soda it came with bread and coleslaw it was under $12!! amazing deal! My one negative is that I bit into the fish and I had a bunch of bones in my mouth but it wasn't throughout the whole fish. Would definitely return“

“I’m surprised at how fresh and how well the food is made here.I honestly thought this place would be like a regular chicken shack that’s why I never ordered from here.I was expecting greasy wings with soggy oil filled fries. BUT NO! So much better than I expected!The fries were crunchy and not greasy. The wings weren’t oily and they were fried perfectly!If I order fast food again I will definitely order from here.I’m glad they don’t add salt to the chicken and fries. You can add to your liking. But it’s so good a little pepper sauce or ketchup is all you need if not plain.“
