If you're in Belleville, NJ, don't let the small size of Titas Bakery fool you—this place is a hidden gem! I've been a loyal customer since I was 11 years old, and now at 33, I love bringing my kids here to experience the same delights I did growing up.

The warmth and friendliness of the staff make every visit special. Their artisanal bread, known as **pan artesanal**, is simply outstanding. Some of my personal favorites include **lenguas**, **champurradas**, **pirujos**, and **quesadillas**—each one is a true taste of home.

What makes Titas truly unique is the variety of food they offer. It's like dining at Grandma's, with delicious options such as **Chaomein**, **tortillas de harina**, and a wonderful selection of traditional Guatemalan appetizers. Each dish brings back fond memories and flavors that I cherish.

I can't recommend Titas Bakery enough! Just a heads-up: if you're planning to visit on a Saturday, be sure to call ahead. People travel from out of state to indulge in their specialties, so it’s best to plan in advance.

Cosy cafe, but as a Swede with high standards, their Semla does not cut it.

At an initial look, the size is great. Not too much, but still substantial, and the whipped cream looks smooth. However, it's.. grey?! Not sure if they just forgot to add egg when baking the buns, but looks a bit sad.

When starting to eat, there are three things to observe: 1) the whipped cream is smooth, well done on that part. 2) the bun is not fluffy, actually closer to dry, making the whole Semla quite boring. 3) waaaay to little almond creme. A boring bun can be saved by a lot of almond creme, however there is a minimal amount in this one. Even if the bun was perfect I'd be disappointed.

Overall this is a 2 or 3 on a scale of 5. The only reason it could be a 3 is because there are very few places that offer Semla in NYC. That said, if you're one of the few Swedish bakeries in town, you have a responsibility to represent the country in a better way than this. Especially when you charge an outrageous $9.5 for it.

“my favorite coffee shop. all the women are so friendly and make all the baked goods and drinks with love. i highly recommend the oat hochija latte and their home brewed iced teas. in the fall they have a delicious kabocha tea cake and regularly have a yuzu lemon cake and a lavender blueberry cake that are divine. i usually go during the weekdays in the early morning/afternoon and they have seating available, but it is a small space and can get busy on the weekends.“

If you’re grabbing a bite around lunchtime, you cant beat the focaccia and sandwiches– but the rotating soups/stews on the menu are like a hidden gem. Their menu is limited if you are planning to dine in, however, it is quite reliable and consistent. It is pure comfort food.

If you are not that adventurous, I highly recommend their empanadas de carne (beef and potatoes) and pan de bono (cheese bread). Those are usually the favorites of any picky eaters that join us 😁“

This location is small not much choices of all the items available and also seating is limited but the space is small to begin with.

The staff is so caring warm and attentive. Every pastry beverage and prepared products are fresh and staff is out and about moving items cleaning and restocking as soon as they see the need for it.

“I ordered a sticky toffee pudding cake from the Christmas special dessert menu from Scram and it had to be one of the best things the whole family has ever had! It came with caramel sauce and crisped up to perfection in the oven. The sugar balance was immaculate—not too sweet, and even though it was to emulate a pudding, the cake texture was light with crackly edges and delivered a cozy bite each time. To put the cherry on top, I had to change my pickup time at the last minute and Melanie was EXTREMELY accommodating. A true marker of a community-forward, attentive business-owner.
