I ordered a Russian roulette cake for my wife’s birthday. She has been following Byclio on instagram for a while now and has been wanting one of the cakes. So I filled out the form and trusted Clio to work her magic - and she definitely delivered!

First off, the ordering and pickup process was very easy. The cake was ready at the pickup time that I requested , and Clio even presented the cake to me in person! On the form , I had only noted some colors/themes and flavors that my wife would like. Clio took that and ran with it. The final design was better than I could have imagined !

The cake itself was chocolate with a passion fruit curd and was absolutely delicious! All the guests raved about it, and some even said it took the top spot as their favorite cake ever !

What I also really appreciate is how clean and well-maintained everything feels. Even with so much seafood being prepared and served, you never get any feeling of messiness or poor hygiene. The whole place feels very professional and high-quality, and the level of service matches that.

“Kam Hing Coffee Shop — House of the Sponge Cake absolutely lives up to the name. 😂 The second you walk through the door, this place has so much personality. It feels old-school, busy, local, and full of character—the kind of place you immediately know has a story.

And then the sponge cake… OMFG. 😭 So simple, but SO GOOD. It’s unbelievably soft, fluffy, light, and basically melts in your mouth. I took one bite and immediately understood why people come here just for this.

No crazy toppings, no fancy presentation needed. Just a warm, fluffy sponge cake done RIGHT.

There are so many places to eat in Chinatown, but this is one I would absolutely tell people you have to try at least once. It truly deserves the “House of the Sponge Cake” name.“

From the bread to the fillings to the ratio, bravo.

So, no, Italian tourist, it won’t taste like a run-of-the-mill croissant. It’ll be different (and in many cases better). You don’t think they have enough bread? They sell out because they bake small batch. It’s not Whole Foods. Ingredients are absolutely top notch which is why you feel zero bloat from this food. “I don't usually write long Google reviews, but after attending a buddy’s wedding in North Jersey recently, I had to drop one for this place.
Honestly, I’m not even a big cake guy, but the dessert setup at the reception caught my attention right away. They had this huge, multi-tiered custom wedding cake that looked awesome really clean work, not over the top, just super high quality. My wife and I were actually talking about how great it looked before they even cut into it.
When we finally got our slices, I expected the usual wedding cake thing: looks great, tastes like dry cardboard or straight sugar. But man, this thing was actually insane. Super moist, fresh, and tasted legit. I finished mine in about two minutes and ended up grabbing half of my wife’s slice too. It was so good I walked over to the groom during the party just to ask where they got it. He told me they had it custom designed at D’era House.
Finding a cake designer around North Jersey that makes something that actually tastes as good as it looks is pretty rare. I saved their info on my phone right then and there for our next family event.

There is zero worry about milk or butter cross-contamination, so my kids could safely pick whatever they wanted.

We really enjoyed the fact that they have mini donuts and muffins alongside their regular sizes—it made it so easy to try a bunch of different things! The flavors are completely out of this world. My teenagers love real meat and dairy and are usually tough critics of vegan food, but these hit the nail on the head. They are so airy and delicious that you would never guess they are plant-based.
