Open sitting arrangement outside as well. If all 4 booths are occupied then you have to wait and waiting area has only 1 couple seat, more than 2 persons have to wait outside.“

“We have gotten take out from here several times and have loved the food. We go here for our Kerala food fix and the flavors are spot on. The food feels homemade and the spices are just right. My personal favorites are the banana leaf fish pollichathu, kerala chicken fry, chicken roast, chicken curry and fish curry with the tapioca. The owners are lovely people too!“

“I remember when this location was actually a cuban sandwich joint, then a pizza place that had nice pizza, then it became Spicy Bytes, my girlfriend and I were always so curious about this place but due to the odd weekday hours we never were able to tell if they were open. It was one day a week or two ago that I was walking around with my girlfriend where she suggested we try this place out since we noticed it was opened! Upon entering a young woman welcomed us warmly and showed us the menu, and took a seat. We ordered a Butter Chicken Curry to share and two orders of garlic naan bread, and got the curry at a medium spice level since my girlfriend can't handle spicy stuff at all, and she ADORED IT!

Upon taking her first bite of the butter chicken my girlfriends eyes lit up and widened, it was also her first time trying Indian food so I could tell she was very much hooked. We enjoyed our meal and were asked by the young lady if we needed anything else through out our meal, which I really appreciated. After eating we were both very satisfied and definitely plan on coming back for more. I am surprised they haven't done much with the interior since the last place since it still very much feels like the previous pizza place, but it honestly didn't bother me as this places food is something you should not miss :)“

Its hard to find good Indian food and I must say, I've been coming here for more than 20 years and I still will be coming more and more! Out of all the restaurants in parsippany & Rt 46, I specially come down to Wayne to eat this amazing food. my fav is the sag panir, malai kofta, and vegetable biryani. I love the one waitress and how she explained the spice levels according to chiptole and taco bell! the uncle who is the owner always greets everyone like hes known them for years. Like we are family, its heart warming since i dont live with my family. Amazing food, amazing people and amazing prices!“

“This cute little "hole in the wall" is truly a hidden gem! While in reality, it's no hole in the wall at all. You actually feel like you're in a small shop in India when dining-in with the colorful decorations, background music and overall setup of the restaurant. Not to mention the food, which was absolutely amazing! Very tasteful chaat and small dishes, each with it's own little twist. I got:

-masala chai
-mango lassi
-Chinese Frankie (get it on a paratha)
-Chili Cheese Corn Grilled Sandwich
-to top it off, get their Chocolate Pan - it was bomb!

EVERYTHING was 10/10. I loved the food so much, I get went again the next day.

“A great choice for getting some high quality Indian food in the area, especially if you'd prefer to not deal with the hustle and bustle of Little India in Journal Square.

I highly recommend ordering anything from the tandoor - the tandoori chicken was perfect! And the portions are massive. I did think many of the appetizers and main dishes were quite overpriced, however.

That said, I'd definitely come back and try the rest of the menu!“

“The only restaurant we dine at in India Square! Literally here at least twice per month, and always our first choice when we want to stay in and order online. The food always comes out on time and delicious. We always get the special chicken biryani and chicken tandoori and they always come out flavourful and juicy. We’ve had their naans before too and they were also exceptional. I have noticed recently though that the food sometimes doesn’t come out hot.

My husband and I are introverts and we really appreciate the chill and relaxed service we receive. Not too pushy or hover-y, just comfortable. I also really love the vibe here! I absolutely LOVE that they show Bollywood on their TV! I don’t understand a thing, but it’s such a nice touch it makes the restaurant feel homey and local. A LOT of locals dine here too and the restaurant is never empty, if not full, so I think that speaks a lot about their food.

Overall, we love Southern Spice! Absolutely have been recommending to our friends, and now to all of Google!“

We ordered the paneer timepass, dabeli, butter locho, pav bhaji, and cold coffee. The food was amazing—great portion sizes and a traditional taste in every item. The prices were very reasonable, too. Both were delicious, and the Triple Schezwan Rice especially stood out—it was one of the best I’ve had, very close to the authentic Mumbai Indo-Chinese flavor. The salt could have been a touch more, but otherwise, everything was spot-on. I’d recommend picking up from the restaurant, as there’s no Wi-Fi and parking can be tricky to find. They have a few tables for seating, but this is definitely a go-to spot for tasty Indian takeout. The prices are a bit high, likely due to post-COVID adjustments across Indian restaurants, but the portion sizes were generous.“
