“The pho was excellent—rich broth and great flavor. Just a heads-up: they don’t accept cards, so it's cash only. The place isn’t the cleanest or most polished, but honestly, that seems to be pretty common with a lot of authentic Vietnamese spots. Worth it for the food.“

“Literally one of my favorites in Philly, Bistro Southeast never disappoints! I have eaten here too many times to not have written a review yet. The food is always flavorful, fresh, and hot. What I like most is that it is always consistent and the portions are sizable. The crab fried rice is my favorite item on their menu but everything I’ve tried has been amazing. The wings are crispy and well seasoned, the salads are refreshing and feeling, the mango sticky rice is the perfect balance of sweet and savory…I’ve tried other dishes as well, just too many to list haha! In addition to the food, the service is great. The staff is always so friendly, they play apart in how frequently I eat there as well. I don’t have any pictures of my food because when I remember to take them my food is already half gone.“

“It’s a cute cafe. Banh Mi is good . Love how they use seeded bread. I like the blended espresso and my daughter likes the cookies & cream.😋 The catering food was delicious . My guests liked the shrimp tapioca wrapped in banana leaves. Spring rolls was very stuffed with lots of meat . Highly recommend this place!“

“Friends took us here for dinner and what a fantastic experience all around! The food was authentic and delicious, the staff as well as the owner are all incredibly friendly, welcoming and made sure we were well taken care of after a slight snafu with our reservation time. We had a fun filled night with unexpected karaoke, mainly lead by the staff who all delivered excellent performances. Corey was very hands on and interacts with all of his guests. He even broke out the whiskey and shared it with the entire restaurant. What a fun night! We will definitely be back!“

“Came here with a friend for lunch and the food was both VERY reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. I got a mango-jackfruit smoothie and tried some of my friend's lemongrass tofu - both were fantastic. Will absolutely come back if I'm in Philly again!“

“Café Diem in South Philly is hands down our favorite spot for Vietnamese food, especially their Bún bò Huế. My wife and I have tried this dish at countless places, and nowhere even comes close to the rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced bowl they serve here. The broth is deep and aromatic, the meat is tender, and the spice hits just right. On top of that, the service is always warm and welcoming—it truly feels like being served by family. The entire menu is solid, but the Bún bò Huế keeps us coming back. Highly recommend supporting this gem!“

“Have eaten for Bo Ne a great deal. Love the food and have lived in Vietnam and food is very much on par with the actual Vietnamese Restaurants in Ho Cho Minh City and Hanoi. Can not say anything bad for the place. Have frequented since first opened and the original owners.“

“I had the bahn mi hoagie and it was one of the best that I’ve had anywhere. The sauce that the tofu was cooked in made this meal remarkably…And it had a lot of the usual veggies in it as well….The in-house menu listed vegetarian and vegan options right below the regular options for each menu section…easy to find.“

“This is a must-try for anyone who loves Vietnamese food. The fish banh mi was fresh and flavorful, with perfectly cooked fish and crispy vegetables. The pho was served hot, with a rich broth and fresh herbs adding so much flavor. The staff was attentive and quick, making the dining experience even better. I will definitely be back!“

“What a gem of a spot! As an Asian food lover, this Vietnamese eatery quickly became a favorite in the neighborhood. Their summer rolls, bánh mì, and caramel coffee are incredible—the coffee, especially, hits the perfect sweet spot. I’ve already returned several times, and I know I’ll be back again!“

“I stumbled upon this hidden gem a few weeks ago heading to a different restaurant but this one caught my attention, it’s BYOB as well the Pho and chicken and shrimp tempura is theeeee best, the Pho soup was so flavorful and the beef was cooked just right, the service was very good food came out nice and hot, it’s a nice chill atmosphere and they got some good music on the playlist, I have been here 2x since. Only place I go now when I want Pho.

“We’ve been going here for years, our favorite is the ba vi, other dishes we’ve tried like the fried rice and steamed fish are also great. More family style meals that are traditional to Vietnamese food, the restaurant could use an interior update but hopefully not at the expense of the food“

“This place is a GEM hiding in plain sight! The food is GREAT. (The space is a former long-time Chinese-American spot, so don't get worried about the atmosphere or service.)
Curious for a long time and more, I ordered Summer Rolls (#2), Shrimp Summer Rolls (#3), and Spring Rolls (#1). I ate the first two (two of each per order, fyi) and they were SPECTACULAR. Particularly with the table side brown sauce and chili dips that were available. The Shrimp Summer Rolls are filled with veggies, clear noodles and come with two large shrimp. The wrap of the roll is also clear, so you see what you get. GET THIS.
Next, I got three Bahn Mi Hoagies. Pork (#18), Chicken (#19), and Tofu (#20). I had the Pork and Chicken. Like the Rolls, they were GREAT and of course I added the above sides.
Regarding the Spring Roll (#3) and the Tofu Banh Mi hoagie (#20), I brought this to a family member who is part Asian and a Pacific Islander. She said the food was *a ten*.
Finally, I got Fried Dumplings (#12). Same as above. ?
At the end of my visit, pleasantries were exchanged in French (the colonial experience) and it was a perfect finishing touch to this awesome, rather unplanned experience.
GO HERE. SUPPORT SOUTH STREET.

“I had never tried Pho before, but was looking for something warm and spicy to battle this chilly weather we’re having. I ordered over the phone and when I went to pick up my food the owner was so incredibly friendly. He told me about how it gets chilly in Vietnam in the evenings and they’ll make their broth spicy to warm them up. The food was incredible, spicy enough to warm you from the inside and so very flavorful. I will definitely be back.“

“Let’s start with the Banh Beo Chen! It’s a small-steamed rice cake topped with mushroom/grounded pork sauce. It came steaming hot and super delicious! Add a bit of fish sauce and hot chili and it will be the best thing you ever try!
The Mi Quang was also full of flavor. It’ll the mid-Viet style that is being transpire into their recipe. It reminds me of the true Miền Trung style food that you get from home.
The store was super clean and there is a wide variety of drinks as well. Their food menu is small but it focuses on the Mid region of Vietnam. We’ll be back to try more!“

“The Mi Quang, as the name suggests, is what to get. Usually not something I crave as much as other things as a Viet person, but it is sooo good, and I have to say this is near the top of my list of best Viet dishes in philly. Highly recommend. For those who aren’t familiar with Mi Quang (the dish), it is really accessible, and easy to eat. Its a chicken noodle soup with a wide egg noodle more like a fettuccine/tagliatelle than the rice noodles you see in pho. The balance of the broth is top tier, and the veggies that come on the side were abundant and fresh.
Go try this place!“

“This was the perfect restaurant for my birthday celebration. The service was on point and the food was amazing! The pho and spring rolls were delicious. The cocktails are inventive and pair perfectly with the cuisine. The black sesame ice cream was a perfect way to end the night (plus the espresso martini).“

“This family owned restaurant is a gem in South Philly. Inconspicuously located on Broad Street, when you step in you are kindly greeted.
The staff is wonderful, kind, and will strike up a conversation. The service is incredibly fast.
The food is delicious. I recommend the Pho and the Pork Banh Mi. The Pho broth is one of the best in Philly.
The price has gone up in the past years, but I'll blame it on inflation nationally. Pho will be $12-15. The Banh mi is relatively cheap at $6-9.
I would 100% recommend and would happily eat here again.
Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs to get to dining area would make wheelchair access very difficult.“

“The food is amazing and not the typical Vietnamese offering. The restaurant switches up the menu quite frequently, so you almost never know what is going to be available when you go there. It is definitely a great date place and it is located in a very fun neighborhood.“

“Pretty good. Torn on whether I would go back or not, though.
Had the rice vermicelli with pork and the appetizer salt and pepper chicken wings. There was an ample amount of pork in the vermicelli but I probably would have liked more of the pickled chopped veggies with it. The wings were very good and I probably preferred them out of the two.“

“seems like a family owned restaurant! I’ve never had chicken pho before so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the broth was fairly similar to beef pho but cleaner. Their pho bowls are one size only, but it is very large. We got two bowls of plain pho with 1/2 chicken the first time we went, and our total was about $40-$50. 1/2 chicken was definitely a lot for two people, so we ended up getting 1/4 chicken today (total of $27) and it was the perfect portion. They serve cold tea, which was very nice and refreshing. Parking is difficult to find on weekends, but the lot is generally empty on weekdays.“

“Just had the best banh mi sandwich of my life! Bread was warm and flaky, filling was spicy but not overwhelming, everything was fresh, and it came out in the time it took me to go wash my hands—all for under $6! I stumbled on this place with no expectations, but cannot WAIT to eat here again.“

“Everything from the bahn mi to the wings are absolutely amazing, the workers at the shop are always delightful, especially the owner Lynh and her family that will sometimes her run the counter. We go out of our way regularly to come and see them, especially when their truck is set up at the Wissahickon Brewery! Keep in mind their business is small and family run so if they are out of what you might have been looking at, just pick something else! You’ll absolutely love whatever you get!“
“My bf is from vietnam and when he misses good home food, we come here!! We’ve tried a good amount of dishes but the ones we recommend are: Banh Canh soup noodle, Mi Quang, Banh Tam Bi, and the Banh Mi with Cha siu. All are very solid choices. The food is authentic, and prices are reasonable. Also the owner is super friendly we love it here.TDLR: It feels like your Asian mom or dad made you a delicious home cooked meal. Would recommend.“
“We always come for the hoagie and coffee, grab and go. Don't be fooled by the lackluster neighborhood and surrounding area, Vinh Long Cafe is an amazing Vietnamese cafe and restaurant that is surely overlooked and underrated. It is a secret gem in South Philly. The Vietnamese iced coffee is made perfectly and the Vietnamese hoagie is unbelievably fresh and authentic. One reason it doesn't get the visits and accolades it deserves is probably due to its environment. Often the cafe seems to be filled with only local friends or family just hanging out. Sometimes the place is completely empty and they play traditional news or music. It doesn't seem too welcoming to those who don't speak the language, but don't be intimidated as this is just the traditional ways of the people there. Just walk up to the owner - who is always at counter - and ask for a Vietnamese hoagie and coffee. They make the hoagie on order right there in front of you. It's fresh and as authentic as it gets. Eat there or take it to go. It's worth the try.“

“Authentic banh mi. The #6 could be sold on the streets of Ho Chi Minh. The bread is so fresh and has the flaky crust of a really good baguette. Toppings are fresh and spicy. And only $8? Wow! Mom and pop restaurant and they are very friendly. I ordered a ham #6 and a BBQ pork #4 banh mi and a delicious iced Vietnamese coffee. Quick service and great quality. Not much seating is the only downside. Otherwise, if you like banh mi you need to try it out!

“This is one of the best place to get Hu Tieu Nam Vang (Phnom Penh Style Noodles). This place reminds me of the little noodle stall in SaiGon with the smell of stove cooking and warming foods in the back.
We tried the infamous dry noodles, egg rolls, and meatball soup. All came out super warm and delicious.
They also have a great variety of Banh Mi and Vermicelli Noodles dishes as well. Will definitely come back for more homestyle noodles dishes!“
