“Stop the presses!! I found a great new restaurant where artistry trumps slinging hash. It’s Pop Empanada, re-christened Pop Pasta Supper Club on Thursdays and Saturday nights. On those days, Chef Nicolas Pescatore prepares a 6 course meal, and even if you don’t like every course, you will appreciate the artistry and the ambition. Tonight, the courses were 1. celery avocado salad (replacing salmon, which this landlubber doesn’t like), 2. shrimp empanada in a butter curry sauce, 3. pork belly confit, 4. raviolo-soft boiled egg center in a brown butter sage sauce, 5. brisket ragu paccheri pasta, and 6. dessert of frangelica panna cotta key lime shortbread crumble. The cost with tip is around $100 per person plus the cost of your BYOB. We wouldn’t pay that cost often, but it’s a welcome break from the restaurants where kitchen staff show up at 4 PM and are ready to serve at 5pm.“

“Was looking for Mediterranean food for my wife and I on a casual evening out and we were not disappointed. Super friendly/helpful staff, wonderful atmosphere, and a wonderful selection of food. My wife and I got a bowl and we both loved it. If you are looking for a counter style Mediterranean place to eat this is a fantastic choice! All the food is made fresh. My wife ordered pita chips and falafel on the side and both were made fresh when we ordered. The pita chips were thick and super crispy. The falafel was incredibly moist too. Highly recommend!“

The sandwich was perfectly balanced: crispy hash browns, flavorful Taylor ham, and gooey melted cheese all stacked between a fresh, toasted everything bagel. “This is a pleasant addition to town, and obviously quite popular. I only gave 2 stars for food because despite having a collection of 3 nondairy milks (75 cent upcharge not appreciated!) there is not a single food item a vegan or person with dairy issues can eat. Also, the only place you can sit and work on a device is the big table, which is usually full. Every other sitting area has tables that are the same height or lower than the chairs/stools so really not back friendly. Service is good and nice minimalist vibe-- will be back!

Response to owner: Regarding vegan pastries, if they are indeed vegan (dairy, egg, butter honey free) then why not label them as such or at least put up a little sign that says ask us about our vegan options?“

“Popped over with my 8-year-old that “needed” a hot dog. Adorable historic spot … we were incredibly impressed with the fresh buns and the very very hot spicy chili that did not disappoint. Staff was fantastic and the line was out the door, but they knew exactly how to hustle people through. Understand why this is included on the New Jersey hotdog Trail and people need to go here!!!“

“The egg toasts were delectable! Actually so happy my sister and I chose to come by. It has a tiny kick of spice which was a pleasant surprise. My sister got the vanilla flat white coffee and she loved it and finished it so quickly. The only thing I wasn't over the
moon for was the corndog. I got the mozarella hot dog corn dog and it was okay. I wouldn't get it again.

The space is small but offers some seating indoors and outdoors. I will definitely try to come again for the egg toast specifically.“

“My only complaint is that the lone worker today, when I was paying with a credit card (without tap) took my card and tried to use tap. Before she took my card I was going to put it into the card processor. When I pointed out that it doesn’t have tap, she (2x’s) typed my card information into the register screen and it was declined (plenty of credit was available because I got gas with it shortly after). I then used my debit card which she just took from me and again tried to use tap (again not a feature on that card either). She was finally able to put my card information for the debit card and it went through. If she had let me put my card in in the first place there would have been no problem with the original transaction attempt. I feel some of the staff might need better/more training on using the register.“

The Witch’s Brew beans I brought home are wonderful, mild, and full of flavor. Can’t wait to break into the second bag of beans I bought.“

“Only drove 75 miles and it was worth it, we milled the food in the car, it was just like home, thank you so much for bringing back all the memories of take outs on a Friday night from Walkinstown or Clondalkin, a long way from home, we ordered 2, 3 in 1 trays and extra curry sauce and prawn crackers and chicken balls and spicebag chicken balls and 2 cans of rock shandy, portion sizes is big, and the food is amazing. “My husband and I was craving some good authentic pizza and let me just say this place DID NOT disappoint. The owner and everyone that worked there was super nice which made me love it even more. I wanted my husband who’s from Baltimore to try zeppole, he’s never heard of it and for me, growing up in Bk and Staten Island it was one of my childhood favs. They didn’t have any made when I asked about it which was fine but while I was in conversation with their delivery driver the owner came out with some. He actually went out of his way to make me some zeppole, and it was delicious and extremely nostalgic for me. He has no idea how that made my day and brought back so many memories to me. Their food is delicious, atmosphere warm and friendly. I recommend this place and we will be back.“
