“Nice ambiance and pretty clean place for family to dine. I met Yassen who works there, and he was fantastic suggesting some of their main course meals. He suggested us to get the lamb biryani and wow!!!! It was probably the best biryani I tasted in this area. Thank you Yaseen and Kebab n grill.“

“Listen RUN dont WALK to Tatiana's! Once you can get that reservation make sure you go! I went for my brother's birthday dinner and EVERYTHING from the ambiance to the drinks to the food was excellent. The staff was very nice also, and the management was top tier! I will definitely be back. We literally tried everything on the menu except 4 things! Oh and the dessert ....THE GOLDEN RUM CAKE AND THE BODEGA SPECIAL was EVERYTHING!!!! Will dine again VERY SOON!Dietary restrictions: The waiter or waitress asks if the table has any allergies!Parking: The later you go in the day the easier to find parking on the street. If you go earlier in the day go to a parking garage!“

“Little pocket of goodness damn this place rocks and was the perfect place to stop with a few out of towners while seeing a show close by. I legit couldn’t stop eating. Everything was flavorful, cooked perfectly and the service was wonderful. Great Ethiopian food - best I’ve had in nyc. Will be back if I’m in the neighborhood.“

“I happened to be walking by on Sunday so stopped in for lunch. I’m so glad I did - this place is awesome! I haven’t had much West African food but it was all very flavorful and well prepared. They have a number of sets you can order that come with a meat and a couple sides - I went with the yassa grilled chicken and it was delicious. It’s in the African cultural center and I found the space really nice abd decorated with beautiful photography. I’ll be back!“

“Having traveled all the way from Canada, our visit to this restaurant was truly extraordinary. The service stood out immediately, with our waitress providing insightful menu explanations and excellent recommendations for our group of four, which turned out to be spot on.The food itself was outstanding. From appetizers to main courses, each dish was bursting with flavor and spices that made every bite a delight. Eating with our hands added an extra layer of enjoyment, engaging all our senses in the experience. Even those in our group who weren't vegan were thoroughly impressed. The restaurant's cozy and welcoming atmosphere added to the overall charm. The local artwork on the walls and the vibrant colors created a warm and inviting ambiance. We'll definitely be returning to this hidden gem. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!“

“So glad I got to finally experience this place!-Reservations mandatory-BYOB-Communal seating-4 courses presented with an introduction by chef Ayo-Substitutes provided for food allergies and other dietary restrictions without sacrificing qualityContemporary Nigerian cuisine in a warm, communal environment. I believe the meal offerings rotate, but on the evening I dined, we were served: spicy red snapper and cilantro soup, black eyed peas with pepper, smoked herring and tilapia atop pounded corn, and fried sugar-coated plantain with vanilla ice cream. Each dish has a Nigerian name; I'm only describing the components of each dish for clarity. Each dish was amazing, featuring balanced flavors and just the right amount of spice (y'all know I don't want ethnic restaurants to sacrifice spice just to appeal to a broader audience).A person next to me had a fish allergy. Substitutions we're provided, and they said that each alternative they received was delicious. My only change recommendation is for the fried sugar-coated plantain to be plated directly atop the ice cream scoop. That way, the sugar won't fuse to the plate as it cools and the ice cream can meld into the plantain a bit prior to eating. Will definitely book again!“

“Wonderful experience. We had no idea what to order, so Modupe (the owner) surprised us. I only wish I could have eaten more! My daughter who can be picky was so happy with her shrimp and fries that she drew Modupe a picture. Highly recommend!!“

“Great spot for date ?No house wine but bartender’s wine choice was awesome.I live near this neighborhood and weekend was always full. So I visited here on Tuesday night. One little thing from my own perspective : Weird restroom ?Downstairs (bit steep stairs) and you can watch people preparing food near the restroom entrance ? wasn’t a big deal for me but I thought it was interesting to watch the cooking area.“

“Jollof rice very memorable and worth the visit. Can get very crowded and busy so reservations recommended. Two levels. First level more calm and second level a more lively atmosphere but music is very loud so will not likely be able to talk to your table mates if sitting upstairs when DJ is playing. Food full of good flavor. For non meat eaters-the seafood options are also delish.“

“This is the nicest quick serve I’ve ever eaten at. We tried the roast chicken and got it at the mild level of spiciness. They have 7 or 8 levels. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. For our sides, we got fried cassava that was wonderfully crispy and steamed vegetables that tasted of citrus and hints of spice. It was served on lovely plates at comfortable tables. We’ll definitely be back.Dietary restrictions: The restaurant is Halal.“

“I've been here a bunch of times and recently went again. It was great! The vegetarian combo was fantastic as always. I think this place has my favorite injera. I've been here with a gluten-free friend and they offer a gluten-free injera option - so great! The lentil sambusa was flavorful and delicious, a great option for kids. Although, you should be sure that your kid can handle flavor and texture and spice; this isn't a place for buttered noodle kids. The service is always good and the space is nice.We sat in the back which was fully enclosed, so that was lovely. I've been back there before in the summer, but was happy to see the enclosure was comfortable.Vegetarian options: Clearly marked vegetarian/vegan menu“

“This place is the answer for winter. Hot, deliciously spiced food and kind staff. Even just sitting waiting while they prepared my food, it was warm, cozy, smelled wonderful and the music was great. Now I know why everyone has been telling me to go here. Will definitely be back. Worth the hype.“

“We stopped by on a Saturday night for an early dinner at 6pm and there was some seating available for walk-ins. Two of us shared one of the combinations platters - 2 for $50. It was large enough for two very hungry people or three people. They constantly replenished our table with injera and we also tried the honey wine, which tastes exactly like it sounds. Everything tasted great. Service was excellent, very attentive and kind. The ambiance is nice and homey.“

“I can't say what I had because nothing on the buffet is labeled. People who usually eat here don't need labels. If I lived in NY, I would be one of those people. I had some beef, fish, chicken, and turkey with rice, greens (probably cassava), and okra. I have nothing to complain about! There was so much more on the line but I couldn't justify eating that much food. Note that there's not much seating and what there is was full of regulars.“

“We are 4 girls visiting from Germany and found that restaurant by luck. We had African/Nigerian food before and we can say it was delicious. We enjoyed every bit. Also the service is excellent. The waiter is really nice and friendly. We can recommend going there to experiencing some Nigerian cuisine.“

“If you are a fan of Nandos you will like this place! Dont get me wrong, it's not as good but if you want to save yourself the drive to DC. This is a great option. The fries were out of this world! Ask them to put the seasoned salt on them. The chicken had great flavor but i wish it wasn't just a sauce they put on top vs marinating it with it. The other thing that i noticed is you have to buy majority of the menu items separately, which i didn't like too much.“

“Food is always fresh and authentic. To bad there are no tables to enjoy the food in the restaurant ( thanks to covid ). But so worth coming for meal you can indulge in at home.Parking: If a space is available, you can park on the street in front of the restaurant. I advise that you have someone else in the car in case you may have to move while you're picking up the food.“

“The Pikine Senegalese restaurant is simply good food!! I just moved to Harlem and was exploring a bit, chose this small restaurant and was impressed with the portion sizes, value and of course the unique and delicious culinary experience. The spices and tastes were different than anything I ever tried before, and I enjoyed every bite. I recommend Dibi Senegal dish and a side order of Cassava. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about but it appears most of their orders are for take out and I will be sure to order from them again, and again.“

“I ate at Queen of Sheba, an Ethiopian restaurant, and really enjoyed it. The place felt warm and welcoming. They have a lot of traditional Ethiopian food to choose from. I tried a mix of different dishes with something called injera, a kind of bread that you use to pick up the food. The food had a lot of flavors, spicy but not too much. The people working there were very nice and helped us choose what to eat. They seemed happy to share their food and culture with us.The meal wasn't too expensive, and I got to try lots of things. Portion sizes were good enough to make us pack leftovers.“

“What would a nice Jewish boy from the Bronx know about Senegalese food? Enough to know a FANTASTIC restaurant when he eats in one. Africa Kine's Dibe Mutton--marinated, spiced lamb chops--are simply off-the-charts. Also wonderful is the Pintade, which in Union Square Market is called "guinea fowl" and sells for $20/lb.It is as though an entire chicken were dark meat, and at Africa Kine it is roasted to perfection. And the whole fried snapper was delectable. Order two entrees for three people, because portions here are very generous. Did I mention the Joloff rice? It is magnificent. The dining room of the restaurant is simple and homey, and you see families, and girls' night out, and some men eating alone, all in a welcoming space that feels like a tavern, minus the alcohol. All three times I visited my waiter was the astute Papui (I am not spelling it correctly) whose bouncing braids crown a very smart head and a megawatt smile. He contributes no small part to what gives you the feeling you have discovered a great place at Africa Kine. Now if I could just learn to pronounce Ngalakh. HIghly recommended.“

“(Once again I'm asking that you don't allow my horrible photography skills to color your impression of the food I review, but anyway) This place is great! Ordered online and it was ready the minute it said it would be. The man who gave me my order was very nice, the space is beautiful, as is the food. Ordering extra injera was overkill on my part, but it's delicious, so I'm not complaining. Ethiopia has truly mastered vegetarian food, and Awash has a great selection. A true celebration of spice and seasoning and all the best things vegetables can be. Don't miss the Gomen, their collard greens were absolute perfection. I can rest easy knowing I've found my go-to spot for NYC Ethiopian food.Vegetarian options: To be among their vegetarian selection is among the highest honor a vegetable can achieve“
