“So glad I got to finally experience this place!-Reservations mandatory-BYOB-Communal seating-4 courses presented with an introduction by chef Ayo-Substitutes provided for food allergies and other dietary restrictions without sacrificing qualityContemporary Nigerian cuisine in a warm, communal environment. I believe the meal offerings rotate, but on the evening I dined, we were served: spicy red snapper and cilantro soup, black eyed peas with pepper, smoked herring and tilapia atop pounded corn, and fried sugar-coated plantain with vanilla ice cream. Each dish has a Nigerian name; I'm only describing the components of each dish for clarity. Each dish was amazing, featuring balanced flavors and just the right amount of spice (y'all know I don't want ethnic restaurants to sacrifice spice just to appeal to a broader audience).A person next to me had a fish allergy. Substitutions we're provided, and they said that each alternative they received was delicious. My only change recommendation is for the fried sugar-coated plantain to be plated directly atop the ice cream scoop. That way, the sugar won't fuse to the plate as it cools and the ice cream can meld into the plantain a bit prior to eating. Will definitely book again!“
“I've been here a bunch of times and recently went again. It was great! The vegetarian combo was fantastic as always. I think this place has my favorite injera. I've been here with a gluten-free friend and they offer a gluten-free injera option - so great! The lentil sambusa was flavorful and delicious, a great option for kids. Although, you should be sure that your kid can handle flavor and texture and spice; this isn't a place for buttered noodle kids. The service is always good and the space is nice.We sat in the back which was fully enclosed, so that was lovely. I've been back there before in the summer, but was happy to see the enclosure was comfortable.Vegetarian options: Clearly marked vegetarian/vegan menu“
“We are 4 girls visiting from Germany and found that restaurant by luck. We had African/Nigerian food before and we can say it was delicious. We enjoyed every bit. Also the service is excellent. The waiter is really nice and friendly. We can recommend going there to experiencing some Nigerian cuisine.“
“This place is the answer for winter. Hot, deliciously spiced food and kind staff. Even just sitting waiting while they prepared my food, it was warm, cozy, smelled wonderful and the music was great. Now I know why everyone has been telling me to go here. Will definitely be back. Worth the hype.“
“We stopped by on a Saturday night for an early dinner at 6pm and there was some seating available for walk-ins. Two of us shared one of the combinations platters - 2 for $50. It was large enough for two very hungry people or three people. They constantly replenished our table with injera and we also tried the honey wine, which tastes exactly like it sounds. Everything tasted great. Service was excellent, very attentive and kind. The ambiance is nice and homey.“
“I mean, first and foremost I can’t stop emphasizing how much revitalizing the food is after couple of drinks. The Staff is so friendly and accommodating, Specially mama Rabe, she’ll have you feeling like you’ve just discovered a brand new mom that knows exactly what your stomach need lol. I definitely recommend to check it out.“
“Been to their location in manhattan it was so good that i decided to stop by during a pass through in Bedstuy. I cant get enough of the burgers and wings. They have to open more spots so I can easily get to their food. Definitely looking forward to it again.“
“Food is always fresh and authentic. To bad there are no tables to enjoy the food in the restaurant ( thanks to covid ). But so worth coming for meal you can indulge in at home.Parking: If a space is available, you can park on the street in front of the restaurant. I advise that you have someone else in the car in case you may have to move while you're picking up the food.“
“The food was so good so was the drink I had. Overall, a nice place to eat and have fun . The manager was super nice last night with us. Only issue: music is bit too loud but they played some good tracks.Wheelchair accessibility: there is a ramp to get in.“
“I’m so in love with this place ? ? . The food is immaculate. The owner and everyone in the restaurant is pleasant and while waiting for my food threw the whole time allYou here is laughter threw the kitchen . Here at THE GREEN THE FOOD IS DEFINITELY MADE WITH LOVE ALL THE WAG FROM STATEN ISLAND I COME FOR THERE FOOD AND I LOVE EVERYTHING HERE . The portions are big for the price you definitely get your money worth ?“
“The neighborhood, in which this establishment is located, seems to be a quiet and peaceful one. It's actually no different once you enter the restaurant and that's important for me. I want to be able to feel comfortable and have peace of mind wherever I go, especially while spending money. I've never encountered any rowdy crowds or any drama whatsoever when coming here. You won't have to worry about language barriers because there are employees who speak English as well. There's nothing more I hate than exploring foods from other cultures and not being able to be serviced due to not being verbally understood. The food here is delicious and might I add that I'm always satisfied with the amount of food given. The attitudes of the staff are laid back, middle of the road I'll even say. It's not negative or over the top jumping for joy, but it's respectful just the same. Don't expect fancy decor, rather basic and simple.“
“This place is incredible. I came here about 4 days in a row when I was visiting from out of town. The stews are very rich in flavor. Prices are great, the cashier is very nice, and you can tell the food is the real deal based on the almost exclusively African clientele.“
“I love much soup eating my swallow food My two friends and got better than we barging for. Quality food, nice environment,no single fly in the kitchen nor eating area. Good service , wheelchair friendly and lastly pocket friendly.Parking: A close by parking but not free apart from street parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Good access to wheelchair.“
“Bunna Cafe has some great Ethiopian food and is exclusively a vegetarian place on top of that (I don't know about most people but I personally love my meat). However, despite not serving meat, Bunna Cafe still delivers flavor at great prices and portion sizes. My favorites were the spicy lentil and mushroom one but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. The hospitality was exceptional as well. No complaints here!“
