“Stepping in to Guarapo transported me back to my times living Miami. The food was a blend of Puerto Rican, Colombian, and Mexican food, taking the best from each place and turning it into their own. We tried the shrimp soup and oxtail dish which was perfect. Oxtail was succulent and soft and the tostones that comes with the soup was probably the best I've had. Definitely worth checking out. Nora was great!“

“Spanish soul food lovers, if you're looking for morcilla, this is the best in bklyn. Perfectly seasoned. Reasonably priced. They also have an excellent tripe soup, chicken soup, rice & peas, roast chicken, roast pork, and more. I always stop by when I'm in the neighborhood.“

“I had a steak mofongo, my sister had pollo quisado con arroz con gandules, and my nephew had the picadillo w white rice and black beans and plátanos maduro. We also shared some bacalaitos and ensalada de escabeche. Authentic Puerto Rican flavors, which are hard to come by in this area now, we where happy campers.
Beautiful decor, and everything was lovely and clean. Kudos to new owner/ management (Edwin), who was super engaged with every single customer! I am looking forward to new menu expansions that he mentioned, such as breakfast and a slew of liber flavors, which he gave us a sample of coconut as complimentary. Will be back.“

“A staple in the North of Newark. Definitely a locals spot with a ever growing clientele. this spot looks small in the front but it has a banquet hall, pool table and bar area. If you go by, say "hi" to Cheito (the owner). Tell him "Nani" sent you ;)“

“They would get 5 stars if they knew how to make pasteles. Love the food but one thing the chef cannot make puerto rican pasteles. It taste like he mainly put green plantain instead of green banana. Plus I can taste the vinegar from the olives. You do not put the vinegar from the olives at all. Chef, for the pasteles you need for every bunch of bananas you need 1 green plantain 1 medium yautia, 1 potatoe, and one hand piece of pumpkin. Plus it need that puerto rican condiment taste which it did not have.“
