The person taking the order on the phone took time to answer my questions and spoke clearly. The driver was courteous as well. “We were in town from Wisconsin to see Metallica. The day after the concert , we were looking for something good to eat and found Dumpling Dojo. Looking thru the menu , we knew we had to try. AMAZING!! We had one of the best meals we have had in a long time and my husband and I like to eat. We go to a lot of high ends places, but as I said , this place was extraordinary. The staff very friendly and helpful. We had the fried pork belly , tangerine beef , shrimp dumplings, fried shrimp and ramen noodle. And for desert , out of the world raspberry cheese cake wontons with whipped cream and fruit garnish. Nothing was too spicy but so flavorful. Again , you really need to try this place. Thank You !!“

“Stopped by for some takeout before heading back to Brooklyn and was presently surprised. The shop is no frills basic Chinese and Japanese takeout. The restaurant was clean, service was friendly and pretty quick. Food was descent for takeout Chinese food, though the sushi was just fine. The combination dish that I got reminded me of late night college life a night after drinking and grabbing some quick fast Chinese food.“

“I love this place, it's my go to lunch after school. I always order their lunch special which is 2 rolls of sushi with miso soup and a salad for around 12 dollars. I've only tried their sushi but i can say it's one of the most delicious sushi restaurant I've been at. The workers there are also very nice.“

I especially appreciate the options of separate checks and allowing external cakes to be brought in for special occasions. Other places charge or don’t offer them at all, which is why I will continue to give Mizu my business. The sushi is absolutely amazing. The calamari or tuna avocado rolls are delightful. “Best Thai food in NYC + NJ. Very cheap yet authentic. However, reservation only and no walk-ins, also you must know the chef or staffs personally to reserve a table. The atmosphere is like dining at home, literally. The chef will cook and eat with you, but be careful as the staffs love encouraging the customers to drink with them. But if you get too drunk to go home, you can sleep over at the restaurant and wake up with breakfast. The restaurant has no menu, you can request anything you want to eat upon reservation. 10/10 would go back there again.

“We used to come here on a weekly basis pre-Covid. Loved the food, but didn't like the service and felt the wait staff was rude.

Recently we had dinner here a few times and something has changed. The decor has been updated as has the menu and the wait staff is much, much better. In fact, they recognize us as former customers and are always happy to see us. We have now returned to coming here more regularly as the food is very good.

Sakura has a parking lot as well as options to park on the street. We never wait when we come here and it's BYOB, so we enjoy bringing our own selection of sake or wines.

“When my fiancée's Thai food craving hit, we decided to break from our usual routine and try SLA Thai for the first time. Ordering take out through DoorDash, we went with two noodle dishes and a classic dessert to get a proper taste of their offerings.

My fiancée chose the Pad Kemao, a flat noodle dish with shrimp and eggplant. While she found it satisfying with well-cooked shrimp and pleasant eggplant texture, it didn't quite reach the heights of her favorite version from Papa Thai in Bloomfield. The flavors were good but somewhat muted compared to what she's used to, decent but not remarkable enough to dethrone her go-to spot.

I opted for the Pad See Ew and was pleasantly surprised despite an initial strong fishy aroma when opening the container (likely from oyster or fish sauce). The first bite won me over with fresh, perfectly chewy noodles and that great balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors Thai food does so well. My only real complaint was the complete lack of spice, a real miss since DoorDash didn't offer spice level customization for this order. Next time I'll definitely call ahead to request some heat, because what's Thai food without a little kick?

For dessert we tried the Sweet Mango Sticky Rice, which my mango-loving fiancée was especially excited about. The coconut flavor in the rice was spot on, rich and aromatic. Although some of the rice was disappointingly dry and hard, like it had been sitting for a while. The saving grace was the perfectly ripe, sweet mango that she devoured happily. I found it a bit too sugary for my taste, but then again, I'm not the mango enthusiast in this relationship. It's a dessert that would satisfy anyone with a serious sweet tooth, assuming the rice comes out fresher next time.

Overall, SLA Thai delivered a solid takeout experience with some clear highlights (that Pad See Ew in particular) and a few areas for improvement. The noodle dishes showed good technique with fresh ingredients, though the inability to specify spice levels through DoorDash was frustrating.

While it didn't surpass our favorite Thai spot, it's definitely a place we'd order from again - though next time I'll be calling ahead to request spice adjustments and maybe crossing my fingers for better-executed sticky rice. For a first try, it was promising enough that we'd give them another shot when we're in the mood for something different.“
