“We sat in their beautiful new dining area and enjoyed their lunch specials. $12.95 gave us a soda or water, an appetizer and a huge late of food. The chicken soup was better than grandma's, the salad had a unique coriander dressing. The platters came piled high with food. My husband enjoyed every morsel of his pesto noodles and fried fish. We spent three weeks in Italy and didn;t have pesto this good. My rotisserie chicken was moist and flavorful, with more rice and beans than I could eat. We dined here twice with friends and they were also favorably impressed with the fried fish fillet.“

“I hated Lima beans, until I ate them at Contento. In fact, everything I ate there was perfection. My husband and I sat at the bar, which is exactly where I’d sit again. It’s cozy, comfortable and you can see some of the kitchen action as well as chat with fellow diners. The chef came out and helped us pick out a great bottle of wine. I use a wheelchair, which is what first attracted me to going to Contento. I appreciate feeling included. “Te amo Mission Ceviche! My Boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The entire staff treated me like a King! The customer service at this restaurant is absolutely incredible! The food is a gastronomical fantasy. Incredible flavors, fresh ingredients, truly mouth-watering meals. My Boyfriend is from Peru and he says Mission Ceviche is like coming home for him. He is practically obsessed with the two ceviche dishes (Mixto y Classico). For me it is the short ribs. O-M-G I don’t think I have EVER had a meal so memorable and incredibly delicious. To be honest my words do not do the deliciousness of this meal justice. Simply put...it is oh so good. The short rib is cooked to perfection and is so tender you can eat it with a spoon. The accompanying sides are the perfect compliment. The sauce that’s used...I hope they bottle it because I would buy vats of it! The rice with choclo is sublime. The tres leches rich, creamy and absolutely decadent. The food is amazing. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. The music is fiyah. The location is super convenient—a half a block to the subway and Crosstown bus. What really sets Mission Ceviche apart is the incredible Maitre’d Carlos. He treats all patrons the same...from babies in strollers to celebrities. He is so incredibly kind, humble, gracious, charming, intelligent, professional and inspiring. He is passionate and proud. It is awesome to see him keep the atmosphere ebullient and festive and the food flowing. He manages it all so effortlessly. I think it is because he honestly loves his chosen career and when you’re happy and you know it “work” is pure joy. That joy Carlos gives it to all of the Mission Ceviche patrons. This was not me and my Boyfriend’s first time dining at Mission Ceviche. We are now greeted by our first names when we arrive. Carlos is there and he has the biggest smile and we know that we are in great hands and know we will eat well. Every dining experience at Mission Ceviche is amazing! “Yea, this place is amazing. We were looking for a quick bite in LIC on a hot day. We were able to sit down before the kitchen break at 3:30pm to order entrees. We sat in the outdoor seating area, which had great jungle ambiance. Servers were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great cocktail menu. Started off with a few drinks, the pisco sours were amazing. We tried the ceviche mixto and arroz con mariscos, fresh and delicious seafood. There is limited but parking available! I have worked for a long time at the Hirohisa Restaurant in Soho, which has had a Michelin star since 2017 and I found the Peruvian food excellent. (I am Peruvian). I recommend it. The lomo saltado is really filet mignon and cooked to perfection, delicious male corvina, spicy shrimp, chaufa rice with chicken and not to mention the pineapple pisco sour the best, etc.“

“Came by for an early dinner on a Saturday night. This place is a little outside the busy main Astoria area. The outside looks very minimalistic you wouldn't know it's Peruvian just passing by. From the drinks to the entree, everything was tasty and portioned well although slightly on the pricier side. One cocktail, fruit drink, arepa small dish, ceviche mixto, and entree came out to $100 after tip.“

Pick up isn't ever more than 20 minutes for food to be ready. The weekends seem to be the busiest as tables are filled with customers. Walking in on the weekends, you'll be walking into classic Peruvian music and/or modern Spanish music. The llama upon entrance is a nice touch to its culture and opportunity for a nice photo. “There are many Peruvian restaurants but Julia’s Cafe is one of my newest favorite Peruvian food in town. The food is definitely authentically made by a Peruvian cook that understands the passion of culinary through Peruvian cuisine. Even down to sauces and spices you can taste some authenticity. We often get catering when we have a get-together or a birthday and they often times accept despite not having delivery drivers sometimes. I’m grateful for the owner and his service and for food.
