“It was a surprise to find this little restaurant in Harlem. There were no tables, and we took the last two seats at the bar. While we waited, I surprisingly felt at home. The aroma of the food, the care with which Karina prepared each of the dishes, and the kindness and joy they served us. By the time our table was ready, we didn't want to take it anymore; we ate much more than we planned to order because we didn't want to miss out on their delicious food. I have dietary restrictions, and I was surprised to see that everything from the exquisite tortillas to the delicious tres leches dessert was prepared right there, gluten-free and preservative-free. After looking at many places on Columbus that just didn’t thrill us, we were SO happy to find the incredibly delicious Mexican cuisine at Nina’s last night I had the Cochinita Pibil (with an orange habanero salsa on the side that will let you know who’s boss…) and my old friend had Enchiladas Mole with chicken. Excellent and authentic food with warm, friendly staff, and a great bar selection with many tequilas. Nina’s is great! Reasonable too! Glad to give credit where it’s due to this 7mo old establishment that I hope stays for many years! Will return for more!“

“I cannot sing the praises of this place and the staff enough! We had a long day at the museum and we were all starving and the kids were very cranky. We took forever trying to find a place that they would all find something to eat at but that place didn't work out so we came here not realizing how lucky we were. After having a quick glance at the menu I realized two of my children would probably not eat anything. Two of the ladies that work there helped us work it out to piece together a meal for them with components they already have. It took quite a while figuring everything out but they were patient and helpful. The food was outstanding and the cocktails and mocktails were phenomenal. I wish I lived closer because this would be a regular place for me. Highly recommend!“

The service was warm and attentive. We arrived for the end of Happy Hour, so I ordered a draft Pacifica Clara (excelente!) and my friend ordered a Pinot Noir, which she liked. People around us were ecstatic about the cocktails. They started us out with great tortilla chips and a fabulous salsa, muy picante. We loved the Guacamole made at the table, and the Flautas, which also came with Guac. My friend ordered the grilled salmon and I had the Tinga de Res. A word of warning: we both asked for medium rare, but the dishes came well done. If you want medium rare, better ask for rare. We finished with superb Churros--the best you're going to find north of the border.“

“Our first time going to the Totowa location (met up with friends for lunch). Staff was very friendly and helpful - we decided to eat outside and they brought the food to us quickly. We had the tacos, regular bowl with carnitas and fajita bowl with steak and pina-mango drink. Food was very tasty and freshly made. Will come back to try El Pastor. I unfortunately came on a Friday night (avoid Friday nights eating in, just order out) and they were very short staffed. My waiter was friendly but I asked for a on the rocks margarita and got frozen, I asked for tap water, never got it and i never received utensils. The music was incredibly loud. But it’s nyc on a Friday night.

The Good: The woman in the back was a BOSS!!! running everything! She was so sweet and handled everyone with care. It seemed she was also responsible for the online orders which looked overwhelming.

The green salsa sauce was amazing and soooo good! Don’t change the recipe!

The food again was delicious. Really large portions. Take it easy or go ham!

When I was in college, I had the opportunity to travel through Mexico, and one of the most memorable experiences was when a local family invited me into their home to share a meal. Their abuela had made homemade mole, and I remember being completely blown away by the depth and richness of the sauce. It was one of those meals that stayed with me because it was not just about the food, it was about being welcomed into someone's home and experiencing something truly special.

The mole on this burrito immediately took me back to that moment. The slowly roasted duck was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the black beans paired perfectly with the richness of the mole poblano. There was so much depth to the sauce that every bite felt like it had another layer of flavor. It was comforting, complex, and incredibly satisfying.

This is one of those dishes that reminds you why food can be so much more than just a meal. Sometimes a particular flavor can bring back a place, a person, or a memory you haven't visited in years. For me, this burrito did exactly that. It brought back memories of traveling through Mexico and sitting around a family table enjoying something made with care.

Without a doubt, it was worth every penny. If you are looking for something memorable and want to try a dish that feels genuinely special, I cannot recommend the slowly roasted duck burrito with mole poblano enough. It is easily something I will be ordering again. Thank you Chef Ruperto“
