“I was actually pleasantly surprised at how good the food was from here, first time ever trying it after getting my nails done next door and it was yummyyy, we got the nachos and my daughter and niece had gotten chicken tenders with fries, everything was delicious, can’t wait to go back again. “We ordered carnita tacos and the presentation was very good, although the meat was a little too salty, you could eat it, the atmosphere is like a bar where you can go to talk with friends but it is also familiar. In conclusion it is nothing wow but it is not the worst either so you can pass on the customer service is good.“

They’re open until 2 am so if you got the munchies and want some pupusas or tacos or a drink this is a good place to go or order out from. The pupusas are amazing and they got masa de arroz, which I personally like way more than maíz. If it’s just pupusas you can eat with like 10 bucks. The drinks do add up. Give them a try !“

“From the moment we walked past this place, we could SMELL how special it was… the alluring aroma was hard to stay away from. On a whim, we walked in and were warmly greeted by staff and invited to sit quite promptly despite being so busy. First impression: great!

Service was excellent, and ambiance was very warm. But the food… the food was the star of this place. If you ever pass by this place, PLEASE do yourselves the favor and try the banana oatmeal. It is a perfect treat to end your meal as a pseudo dessert. Anything from this menu will tantalize your tastebuds in a way that will keep you coming back for more.

“happy hour! The food was excellent — you can tell it’s made by someone with authentic Spanish roots. Plenty of parking and the drinks were solid. The guacamole was a bit too salty for our taste, but overall we enjoyed it. For a family of four to eat enough during happy hour, expect to spend around $120, which was the only downside for us. “Our first time going to the Totowa location (met up with friends for lunch). Staff was very friendly and helpful - we decided to eat outside and they brought the food to us quickly. We had the tacos, regular bowl with carnitas and fajita bowl with steak and pina-mango drink. Food was very tasty and freshly made. Will come back to try El Pastor. “I give Chili's three stars for food because not a big Chili's fan, we go there for someone's birthday each year and there's no issues. Burger was blah. It's a change store restaurant so what you expect is what you got. Nothing bad.“

The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, and they packed it with plenty of melted cheese so every bite was super satisfying. “The food is always at the proper temperature and the portions are generous. Pretty clean and their salsa bar is always full. Only gripe I have is it’s always freezing inside! In the summer, the air is on full blast. In winter, the heat is barely turned up, if it’s even on! I guess it’s because the kitchen area is warm so the staff doesn’t realize how cold the dining room is for customers.“

“I've walked past this restaurant many times, didn't even think to try it. My wife brought me in, I'm so glad that we went. Inside is a cute quaint restaurant with about 7 to 8 tables. We ordered the birria tacos, gorditas and the soupa de res. It was all absolutely delicious. The flavors to the ingredients, everything is of good quality. The staff is friendly, service is good. “Consistently good food, I’ve never been disappointed by this place. I moved to Weehawken in 2021 and every single time I get food from here it’s magnificent. Yes the prices have gone up but so have the prices of materials for restaurants, I’m certain they’re increases are necessary for them to just, function and pay their employees. Regardless of that, I will keep returning. My only gripe is with the tortilla soup, that one is really really expensive for the amount that you get. But the street style tacos, the Birria tacos, the quesadillas, the enchiladas, the guacamole,… It’s always incredible.“

“Blue Akai has some really awesome options for a fusion restaurant. The menus are huge - I had the Akai tacos (pork buns) and the Knicks rolls. The flavors of both were absolutely incredible. My only knock is that the service wasn't very attentive on a less busy night (had to ask for more water and flag the waiter down for another drink, by the time it came out I finished the roll). Plenty of parking around which makes it very convenient“
