“Loved it! Guacamole with fried plantains was delicious. I had the steak with garlic shrimp, very good. My friends enjoyed their dishes too. Drinks were also great- I had the Cucumber Margarita with Don Julio & it was very refreshing on a hot summer day. Trendy atmosphere and cool murals. Service was wonderful- friendly, attentive & knowledgeable. Will definitely be back.“

“Came here with friends who are locals because this is one of their favorite spots. The restaurant itself is small and very well decorated to fit the tex-mex theme.

We thought service was okay - we ordered chips and queso, 2-3 tacos per person, and later some corn bread. It felt like we watched tables who ordered after us all get their chips first while ours came out slow with no spacing between the appetizer and tacos.

For the food, the flavor of the beer queso was very good. I tried the bean and cheese taco and chicken verde taco which were equally 4/5. The star of the show was the tortillas which were excellent. We also had the cornbread which was a very good balance of sweet and salty between the caramelized walnuts and salty butter.

My wife had the barbacoa taco and papas tacos which were both only okay taste wise . They do really loaf up all the tacos with a large amount of filling which is nice.

We were a bit confused when asked about allergens - we mentioned that my wife has a peanut allergy to the server and their response was if it is okay for there to be potential cross contamination where peanuts could get into the dish on a shared prep space, which is not our general familiarity with cross contamination risk, this would just be containing peanuts. We were confused how to answer and they did tell the kitchen about the allergy for us but my wife was eating nervously the whole time waiting to see if she would have a reaction or not. More confidence in the answer from the server would have helped.

I’d come back for the quesadillas and corn bread.

I loved the cecina (salted beef) taco with its tender, flavourful slices of meat, chopped cilantro & onion, and avocado crema. The chicken taco was well-seasoned and tender, too. “Our first time going to the Totowa location (met up with friends for lunch). Staff was very friendly and helpful - we decided to eat outside and they brought the food to us quickly. We had the tacos, regular bowl with carnitas and fajita bowl with steak and pina-mango drink. Food was very tasty and freshly made. Will come back to try El Pastor. He it's attentive, patient, kind, fast with taking and bringing the orders and he checks to see if the order is satisfactory and if anything else is needed. They’re open until 2 am so if you got the munchies and want some pupusas or tacos or a drink this is a good place to go or order out from. The pupusas are amazing and they got masa de arroz, which I personally like way more than maíz. If it’s just pupusas you can eat with like 10 bucks. The drinks do add up. Give them a try !“

“I've walked past this restaurant many times, didn't even think to try it. My wife brought me in, I'm so glad that we went. Inside is a cute quaint restaurant with about 7 to 8 tables. “Consistently good food, I’ve never been disappointed by this place. I moved to Weehawken in 2021 and every single time I get food from here it’s magnificent. Yes the prices have gone up but so have the prices of materials for restaurants, I’m certain they’re increases are necessary for them to just, function and pay their employees. Regardless of that, I will keep returning. My only gripe is with the tortilla soup, that one is really really expensive for the amount that you get.
