I drove twice in 2 days to grab cupcakes and cookies… I cannot say what’s my favourite out of the cupcake, the brownies, the cookies etc because everything was decadent and not too sweet. You taste the quality of the ingredients and the love they put while cooking them. The fact that Carrie was answering me while the business is close is a sign that she’s passionate and that she care about her client. They’re on the expensive side compared to other bakery, but once you compare you understand why… You taste the butter in everything! I was looking to order a cake for a birthday, and I was impressed by their photos on Instagram as well as the flavor of the slices they had for sale (one of which I received as a gift). “Simply magical! Hands down the best of Chinese pastries.
Pretty much everything worths trying, savory and sweet stuff! Especially the salted egg yolk bolo bun! Even the cha siu bun which I normally hate is good, many other places do it greasy and overly sweet, this place’s is great and you won’t taste any off putting pork taste. We thought we bought enough for breakfast tomorrow but basically finished everything after we got home.
They have limited seasonal stuff so make sure to check it out. Sometimes they close earlier than it’s listed here and many times the popular items are sold out way before they close. So make sure to get there before they’re gone.
Atmosphere wise, I mean it’s traditional Chinese place so don’t expect something Instagram selfies worthy but it definitely feels authentic.
The auntie working at the cashier is so welcoming, helpful, and attentive. Feels just like back home in China and nostalgic as I grew up eating these delicious pastries.“

“What a neighborhood gem!! Walked in on a Sunday morning and had a delightful conversation with Chef Daniel. Ordered a delicious egg sandwich on a flaky, buttery, sinfully good biscuit, plus a few other items including the dark chocolate vegan sorbet, a chocolate chip cookie and blueberry citrus donut. Do not sleep on the seasonal donuts ... the blueberry was incredible! And do not let the vegan in the sorbet fool you - as a chocolate lover, it was rich, decadent, everything you want and more.

I've lived in the neighborhood for a decade and didn't realize Sugar Butter Chocolate offered retail service. I wish I had known a lot sooner because everything was so, so good.
