“I recently stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the neighborhood, and after seeing its high ratings, I was eager to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was closed that day, but fate had other plans—on my second attempt, I found it open.
At first glance, the place didn’t seem overly impressive; it had the charm of a family business that’s still finding its footing. However, the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by Chocolate, a lovely and attentive staff member who kept the place clean and welcoming.
Since they didn’t have soul food available that day, we decided to order the Basa with fries. Let me tell you, it was one of the best fried fish dishes I’ve ever had! The fish was incredibly fresh, with a perfectly crispy exterior and tender, soft inside. The seasoning was spot on, and the mild spicy pickled onions with carrots on the side were a fantastic touch—definitely a flavor explosion!
The fries were also quite good, but the star of the meal was undoubtedly the Basa. We ended up ordering the whiting fish as well, and it did not disappoint—just as excellent!
Overall, I’m glad I decided to give this place a shot. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend you check it out. Don’t let the first impression fool you; this hidden gem is worth a visit!“

“Saw them on instagram and it looked so good I had to take the drive from the bx and try it myself! It was so worth the trip! Catfish and shrimp were seasoned and fried to perfection, Mac n cheese was soooo cheesy and fresh, could have used a little more salt but that’s a personal preference it was still very delicious! Collard greens were sooooo good! Definitely one of the best soul food spots I’ve had in nyc. 10/10 highly recommend! Will be back to try different dishes soon!“

“I was visiting Brooklyn and needed food, I looked up fish on yelp. It was like ennie mennie minnie moe. I chose Soul of the Sea after I viewed the menu. I called first to see if they are open because a lot of businesses closed due to COVID-19. Someone answered immediately and did in fact confirm that they were open. I informed them that I was coming but. When I arrived I announced that I called and placed my order. The person that took my order was very kind, friendly, and courteous. His customer service was fantastic. I ordered the fish sandwich and asked what kind of fish was on the sandwich, he directed me to the menu and said, whiting, do you see it under section of fish sandwich. I did conquer. He told me the price and asked if that price was fine. I said yes and then ordered a carrot cake. His attitude compelled me to buy something as I was eager to support a mom and pop style restaurant. I told the person taking my order that I was passing through and needed to eat. He thanked me for stopping in. The interaction was wonderfully pleasant, the store clean and the staff was attentive. The person that came to the front of the business to sweep, greeted me and thanked me for stopping in. This is an A class, 5 star service restaurant when it comes to serving the customer. Enough about the interaction and now the food. The sandwich was proportioned with a decent amount that was not too filling. I'm used to pieces of fish that were too long for the bread. I am also very pleased that they gave me wheat bread instead of white. The carrot cake was surprisingly not too sweet as I didn't want nothing sweet sweet. Bravo guy's“

“This is a little hole in the wall joint with a long counter area to eat at. But you're not coming here for the ambiance, you go here for some tasty fried fish.
It's a clean establishment with an A rating at the time of my review (the reason I went in), and the counter person was helpful. There is a mind boggling array of seafood combos, so take your time and look around at the walls. Whiting, shrimp, crabstick, on a sandwich or with fries - it's comfort food. You can even order certain items like by the piece if you're low on funds!
I enjoyed the fried crab sticks- crispy, with good flavor and not greasy at all. Surprisingly large pieces to boot, filled me up quickly. Overall a good place to swing by for a quick bite for one or two, or for takeout for a crowd.“

“Alright, let me tell you why I had to check out Baby’s vegan bucket. As someone who’s been vegan for over 17 years, I still get those pangs of nostalgia for the crunchy, savory bites of KFC or Popeyes I grew up with. Let’s face it, we all crave a taste of the past, and brands like Baby’s are genius for recreating those iconic food moments—only now, they’ve gone plant-based.
So, here’s the deal: I grabbed their famed “chicken” bucket. I’ll admit, the inclusion of sticky rice had me skeptical—sticky rice and fried “chicken”? It felt like a curveball I wasn’t ready for, especially since I couldn’t swap it for anything else. But hey, I’m all about stepping outside my comfort zone.
The verdict? The batter was crispy perfection. That satisfying crunch, combined with the juicy, umami-packed mushroom “chicken,” hit all the right notes. The French fries were… interesting. The seasoning was a little unconventional—let’s call it “unique.” But when I paired a bite of the fries with the mushroom and the fresh salad on the side, it all came together beautifully. And the sauce? Sweet, savory, and an unexpected star of the show. Pro tip: drizzle it generously over the bucket’s contents, mix it up, and boom—you’ve got a flavor explosion.
Now, let’s talk about the sticky rice. It wasn’t the worst pairing, but it felt a bit like the odd man out. Freshly microwaved sticky rice alongside fried delights just didn’t click for me. Would I skip it next time? Probably.
At the end of the day, this wasn’t just a nostalgic trip to fast food heaven; it was a fresh take on what comfort food can be in the vegan era. Baby’s vegan bucket was good enough to get me back in line for round two—sticky rice or not. Bravo, Baby’s. Keep reinventing the game!

“My wife and I stopped by to grab a quick bite since we were in the area. We were greeted by the host with open arms. Our intentions were to take the food home but the host was very friendly so we stayed for well over an hour. We even ordered food for the next day and it tasted as if it was just make. This is definitely a place to visit and enjoy some good food.“

“we went to the Vegas location and how Gordon Ramsay can put his name to the crap this place serves up is beyond belief. the batter is way to thick and over cooked and the highlight should not be the Dijon mayonnaise that comes with the food. terrible food and a waste of $39“

“To me, it’s a small hole in the wall type of restaurant. There is no seating to eat inside the store. You order your food to be made mostly . This ensures you get freshly prepared food. And minimize waste. Plan for a 20 minutes wait or order ahead and pick up 20 minutes later. I’ve e joyed my meals from here and k ow of several others that enjoy this restaurant. I’m hoping they can expand while keeping things authentic.“

We were wowed by the food. It is authentic, delicious, and so well put together.

Ant say that about the French fries tho, so next time I'm definitely trying the sides!! Good place to go early, place your order, and go kill 15 or 20 minutes outside while the number on ur ticket is called.“
“HELLO everyone.
Jay fish market has been my go to for my saw food needs since I moved in the Bronx 6 yearw ago.
The fish is always fresh and the staff is attentive and hard working, they also SERVE fried seafood platters which I intend to TRY but have yet to do so.
The other day when I went to BUY my seafood, I noticed red tilapias. ? I wondered if they WERE a new breed since I never knew that tilapias came in that color, I enquired via google to make sure that they were in fact naturally grown as the black ones. To find out that they are compared to red snapper and it is said that the black ones are usually used for fillets. Anyway I brought one and to my surprise it was delicious, meaty and very tasty ?.
I am giving Jay fish market a thumbs up for selling such good seafood since I have been living in the Bronx. I recommend this location for all your seafood needs, the prices are great, the seafood is fresh and I know the fried seafood is good because people eat in there often even though the place is small.
Enjoy Jay Sea food products, they are top notch in the Bronx.“

“Fancy fish always has good quality fish it may not look like anything from the outside but the food is good. I usually go for the fried fish flounder with yuca fries and a salad. The place is amazing considering the price and service. Always great people working behind the counter.
Parking: Parking kind of sucks in this area however if you look around you can find a spot.“

“The meal was excellent! We had oysters, king crab legs, seared tuna, and filet mignon. Every dish was great. The crab legs were served hot when most places they are lukewarm. The oysters were clean and fresh. The filet was served sliced which was really unique and you knew immediately it was cooked to order. Overall, it was a great experience!“
“Great place to watch football. Nondescript sports bar on the lower level of Seamore's in a great location across from Time Out Market. They play all the NFL games and have the sound on for the game on the large projector. The crowd is great, and The Hull team (Andrew!) is exceptional. We plan to come back for more football Sundays.“

“Agreed that this place is the best bang for your buck if you're craving fried fish! Portions are huge...fish was good , the rice was really good and the leafy green salad was unexpectedly really, really good. Sodas reasonably priced and staff was friendly and quick! Clams needed more seasoning though.“
“This is no longer a seafood place, they sell Dominican food and the owners are having difficulty changing the name from fish and shrimp to their name. Came by and the food is the best. Too bad they can’t change the name because they’d be doing better otherwise.“

“I went to this seafood spot to see what all the hype was about. There were a lot of people ordering and waiting for their food, so I went inside and spoke to the front cashier. All I wanted was something simple just fried shrimp. They let me try one, and I’m telling you, it was really good! So, I ordered a small portion. The price wasn’t exactly friendly, but you have to understand, it’s seafood, and it’s high quality. The wait for the food wasn’t too bad either“

“I’ve been a customer at DUNCAN’S for many, many years. It used to be on the corner of Vanderbilt and Myrtle Avenues it was good then and it’s even better now.“
“The Whiting fish with fries is my quick go to in a pinch. Staff is to busy to be polite. That's probably my only issue. Otherwise let's not let that take away the fact that it's an alternative to super fast food. Overall it is a location that's easily accessible and they appear to get it just right everytime. Just be prepared to be very patient and dont expect to be greeted. That's my review. I hope it was helpful to someone.“

“I discovered Brooklyn Chckn ‘N’ Lbstr as a perfect place to have dinner with friends in a casual setting. The place has an intimate and soothing atmosphere, ideal for an evening hangout. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese that was highly creamy and filled with lobster pieces. The serving was quite big, and it was worth every coin! My buddies settled for different varieties of chicken dishes and were equally impressed by the taste. The staff did all they could to be of help and were quite warm. I would recommend it to anyone looking for nice cuisine in an easy going environment.“

“I'm not sure if it's a store tradition, but I should have known that you were going to serve me cold mac and cheese. Overall, the fried whiting dinner was excellent, and the fried shrimp dinner was passable but a little overcooked. Nevertheless, I gave you guys four stars without a doubt.“
