“A large group of 20 of us stopped in last night (Saturday) for dinner, after a day out on the trails. They didn’t even hesitate in accommodating us and moved chairs around and sat us immediately even though they were very busy. The server was so lovely and the food and drinks were amazing! The eight children that were with us thoroughly enjoyed the plushie claw machine while we waited for dinner. Everything was fabulous and it was a great ending to our day. “We were renting a cabin so we decided to check out the tavern. I get anxious about walking into new places. The bartender was busy, but she made it a point to make eye contact with us, and smile making it known she had noticed us walk in. The atmosphere was great, a few people interacted with us and were super friendly, the bartender once again made a point to make conversation with us bc we clearly weren’t from around here. I had the Chicken Spiedie (SPEE-dee, for the uninitiated — a Southern Tier classic) — large chunks of marinated chicken on a sub roll with mac salad and a pickle. The sandwich was genuinely tasty, though it got noticeably salty toward the end. Worth ordering; just something to be aware of. The sauce was a special edition version of their spiedie blend, which was a nice touch.

My wife went with the chargrilled jumbo wings — our first experience with charred chicken of any kind. It's a distinctive flavor that takes a moment to settle into, but once it does, it's interesting and satisfying. Came with three dipping sauces plus blue cheese and celery. A full spread.

My order was supposed to come with fries and they got missed, but we shared my wife's, so no real harm done. Lemon waters all around rounded out the meal.

Our server was the kind of attentive that doesn't tip into hovering — checked in on us at the right moments and otherwise gave us space to eat and catch up with our friend. That's harder to get right than it sounds.

On the next visit, we're eyeing the Nachos Supreme.“
