50 Best Pizza Restaurants near Arverne

“👍😎 "A great slice of pizza!" - Editor I was doing a story on Coastal Flooding in NYC... 'Sandy' 10 years later ...'Hurricane Ida' & 'Ian'... and talked to Surfers on the Beach that surfed 'Ian' (Beach 67) just recently. 'Beach 67' is 'the spot' for surfing in NYC. I was sooo happy I got these interviews and went and got a slice of pizza at 'Boardwalk Pizza' before I hopped back on the Train (the 'Beach 67' stop on the 'A Train'), right there behind a beautiful and impressive strip of storefronts facing the Ocean (which 'Boardwalk Pizza' is a part of). The slice was great... and I asked if anyone was around for 'Hurricane Sandy' (no luck) ...so I went outside to enjoy the air while eating. There is 'great outdoor space' attached to 'Boardwalk Pizza' (and the other storefronts there). It is all brand new ...the neighborhood of 'Arverne' as well (in the Rockaways, Queens)... right at the water. It is like a 'Picturesque Beach Town' and this Pizzeria is a representation of it. I actually met the owner (Giuseppe) he is from Italy (standing in one of the photos at the Entrance), he likes it there at 'Arverne' so much he bought the Pizzeria and serves a 'More European' style of food, he says. The Pizzeria was amply patronized when I went in... mid October (half full) ...the 'Summer Season' over (when he does very well he says) ...with February being slowest. He has a full menu of Pasta, Chicken (and various meat) Dishes... 'Vegan Options' as well. It is very clean (which was nice to be in), the people are 'laid back' there too (I like that). Giuseppe likes it so much he travels every day from Manhattan (he added) and is considering a place in the new units being built across the street (either apartment or condo/co-op). It is an amazing development going on through the whole area of 'Arverne' with 2,000 more units and a school being added... [There was nothing before 'Hurricane Sandy' (he says)] ...it seems 'Arverne' (the name of the Neighborhood) is 'on the way up' (even 'more up' than its current state) along with 'Boardwalk Pizzeria.' “I love the pizza here, especially on weekends. If I go mid week sometimes it’s not as good.

The service is a bit of a problem for me. While I like going, I frequently feel talked down to by the young women hosting/serving there. There is very little effort put into explaining the menu. I don’t drink, and I see a visible annoyance when we return the drink menu without an order. The person serving me food and pouring water is often a brown busboy. At this rate, I’d rather just put in my order myself. (I hope they tip out to the busboys and back of the house!)

The other day, for a very important occasion w a reservation & note, they made us wait 30 minutes, no apologies and nothing to make up for the wait. I used to go quite often and now feel weird about going.

The atmosphere is confusing. It’s super beautiful inside but the acoustics make it a bit hellish. Some of the worst people of the area get together, screaming loudly, or even talking- and you can’t hear yourself think. But that’s not rly the restaurants fault!“

*****IT USED TO BE 5 STARS*****, I used to go at night all the time when the dude that didn’t speak English worked there. But now for the last few months, he’s gone, and the pizza was NOT GOOD the last 3 times I went over the last couple months. Only at night I have eaten here. So i couldn’t tell you about the daytime.

In restaurant business, things need to be consistent, too bad no restaurants are really like this. Because people change up all the time. One little thing can change A LOT in food prep/cooking. I know. I’ve been in restaurant business for 10+ years… hope you guys can fix whatever was wrong with the pizza. I miss it lol“

“Loved it here! Just stopped in at the spur of the moment and I am so glad I did! Felt like I was in a Manhattan Bar! Eva the bartender was great and so was the rest of the staff. Felt like I was with friends.“

“Got the VCR 16 pie. The Cesar salad with chicken cutlet and parm garlic bread sticks. Pizza was definitely above average a smash between old world and modern style. Thin crust but not to thin. Bread sticks were classic the side garlic butter sauce is a nice complement.

The Cesar salad is as advertised incredible. 100% recommend. Dressing and cheese is perfect.
On 4 stars for service because they didnt have to go utensils at all, even when asked.

“Ordered for the first time last night, they were super accommodating since we called at 8:45 and they close at 9:00…. They made us 5 pies and I’m was so appreciative. They were so nice and even recommended one which I absolutely loved (with potatoes!) we can’t wait to go back but to eat there so we get the Pizza Hut out of the oven! Amazing owners and such a delight to have in valley steam!! The owner explained the ingredients and concept to my husband and his friend. They can’t back telling us so about it!“

“The BEST Sicilian square sourdough pizza on the planet 🌎 their sauce is organic and phenomenal, the cheese is wonderful, olives and if you feel like it Add some sausage, and the yummiest pecorino Romano shreds just topped it off. The crispiest crust and So incredibly digestible, because it’s sourdough. Sourdough is fermented and your gut loves fermented food… Love their little gem lettuce salad with their homemade dressing. Very simple here I think we ordered 3 square pies and of course brought some home The Sicilian squares heats up beautifully Just love OPS on Himrod Bushwick Brooklyn!!!! We brought our son who lives in Louisville and this time brought our daughter and boyfriend who live in San Diego and their rock star Pal who is on a tour with THE WHO. “When Cento Uno Pizzeria opened up in my neighborhood, I was beyond ecstatic. The food is amazing and fresh (the white slice is my favorite), and the owner is extremely friendly and conversational. “The quintessential pizza parlor. I think the crust is the best around the area. Owner/operator/pizza maker seems to treat everyone like a friend, even new friends. You probably won't find a better slice for the price and quality. Full pie was around $20 - $25, which is rare these days, too.“

“Went here on advice from a co worker. Had their classic Grandma slice and a Margarita slice. The grandma has a crunchy thin crust and a lot of very flavorful sauce. I enjoyed it after taking some sauce off to give it more balance. The margarita was good with a thicker crust that had a slightly sweet taste to it. I enjoyed both slices. Good neighborhood pizza.“

The crust is thin — and I mean *perfectly* thin, the way it's supposed to be. The sauce is delicious, the cheese is real, and every bite reminds you why NYC pizza is in a class of its own. But what truly blew me away was meeting **Susan**, the owner. Her parents opened this pizzeria back in the **1960s**, and she is still there, carrying on that legacy with so much pride and love. I watched her make my pizza right in front of me — this is a woman who genuinely cares about what she puts out. That kind of dedication is rare. We talked for a while about how much the neighborhood has changed over the years, and she still works hard to keep her prices as low as possible for the community. That says everything about who she is. Susan, you are a gem. Queens is lucky to have you. 🍕 I'm already planning my next visit — every time I'm in the area, I'm stopping by. “went to Brooklyn Beef N Cheese today 3/8/24 with my son. Meet Jessie and he hooked us up. My son had pulled pork sandwich, I had a classic cheese steak sandwich. Both were amazing!! Got an order of fries and Tots which also really good. Found my new sandwich shop for burgers, roast beef, cheese steaks and pulled pork in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Beef N Cheese is better than the other OG places that have been around for decades. Great job Jessie and crew“

“Honestly, this place is so slept on... Krave It has the best pizza in Bayside— by a LANDSLIDE. I love that they use unbromated flour and I appreciate that every piece (even the specialty slices with many heavy toppings) has great structure, no flop. Thin & crispy crust, great ratio of sauce and cheese. I also love how clean the restaurant is. They have some incredible specialty slices that I never knew I needed in my life until I tried them! Especially the “Desi Boy” slice and the “white truffle chicken cutlet” slice. I also have to mention their vodka slice with sesame crust 🤤 Everything in this place is high quality, even their regular slices. Their sandwiches are pretty incredible too, and you can tell that the bread is fresh made in house— you don’t feel bloated or overly stuffed after eating them! The owner is super friendly and even gave us a couple extra slices to try to complete our “pie” when we had already ordered a small variety of slices. The staff are all very friendly and it feels very comfortable and less stuffy than some of the other pizzerias in the area. Happy to give this place my business.
