“It was a wonderful experience , considering it is my first time. We had to wait a few minutes to get our table for 4 but that’s okay! The employees were super nice and went out of their way to pull and extra table for us. I loved the authentic atmosphere. The lighting, decor, and the overall feeling of the restaurant was great! And amazing food. My family loved what we ordered and the matcha cheesecake for dessert was so good! Compliments to the chef! “This place is great. Ate here multiple times and each time it was good. Ramen especially very good. servers are very friendly. Only thing is the chair on one side is the bench type without back so it can be little bit uncomfortable. But this is one of those places that you can keep come back to and you won't be disappointed with food each time.“

“I'll try to keep this to the point —

I gave Food/Service/Atmosphere 5 🌟 because they were on par for me. For a local spot, this really took me by surprise.

What I ordered:

Miso Soup:
Standard Miso Soup, nothing groundbreaking, but very tasty. Would have loved a tad more tofu & scallion, but that's just me.

Salmon Avocado Hand roll:
Not the hand roll I expected meaning it wasn't in the cone shape I'm familiar with, but it came presented like a taco with the seaweed as the shell. Salmon cuts were huge, and with great colour, avocado was bright & ripe, coupled with the perfect amount of rice. Everything tasted clean, and fresh.

Yellowtail Jalapeno Nigiri:
I messed up with this, originally I wanted a sushi roll, but my brain flubbed. Great mistake though, because the yellowtail was delicious, practically melted in my mouth, topped with a delicate cut of jalapeno on top.

Love Milk Tea:
Honestly, just a really delicious milk tea topped with osmanthus flower. It was light, refreshing, and not too sweet thankfully.

Wagyu Tataki:
Tataki is meant to be briefly seared on the outside, but the center remains raw. Was this seared to the degree I wanted? No. But, was it delicious? Yes. And the meat was incredibly tender, flavour of the sauces really complimented everything on the plate.

I finished off with a matcha cheesecake to go, I'm sure it'll be good.

With tip, I spent $67

Again, for a local spot in Richmond Hill/Kew Gardens, I was thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Personally, with slight adjustments, these folks would do great in midtown. I spent a little under what I would spend at a restaurant in the city, and got an incredibly satisfying meal, and left full.“

“Another amazing dinner from Katsuno. Our favorite authentic Japanese restaurant in NYC came through for us once again, this time with take-out. Tonight we had the Tuna Avocado Salad, Nigiri Sushi, Pork Hirekatsu, and Tempura Udon. All served with a refreshing can of Funaguchi Kikusui Sake. “New kid on the block . Food is fresh but lacks taste . Presentation is excellent but need a little upbeat. We arrived without reservation at 8pm and They told us all seats are booked for 9 . We insisted and got seat and left at 830 way before next group arrived.

“I'd recommend this place ... sort of. We chose to sit on the dining side since it was only two of us and didn't want the "show". The service was friendly and good but not overly attentive. Our drinks were very good and a fair price (we had the Oceanside Zombie but without the Sprite added). We both ordered the hibachi surf and turf (lobster and filet mignon) which came with a house salad and clear soup, both of which we really enjoyed. The filet was tasty but the pieces were cut very unevenly so some pieces were medium rare and others were close to well done. The lobster tail was very small and too salty. I would not order it again. I was completely disappointed that the veggies were drowning in teriyaki sauce. There was no indication on the menu that they are served in sauce. I typically love hibachi vegetables but I hate teriyaki sauce! They reminded me more of Chinese takeout vegetables than Japanese hibachi. The fried rice was good but not the best. It came with lots of peas and I hate peas. Another disappointment but not a surprise was they don't offer hibachi mustard sauce. Like so many other places these days they offer yum yum sauce instead which we refused because, yuck yuck. They offered us some ice cream on the house (I think because the server knew I was very disappointed about the teriyaki sauce). It came to the table in little plastic cafeteria style cups with the pull back paper top. LOL. I'm glad it did though because the top listed the ingredients and let's just say, we immediately sent the ice cream back. All in all, not the greatest hibachi experience but also not the worst. I would maybe go back for drinks and try some other menu items ... and hold the teriyaki sauce!“

About the place. Cozy and friendly atmosphere, like at beloved home. They have cute patio. I enjoyed this place a lot. I already planned when I’ll come back.

“I’ve been gatekeeping this place for so long!!! The food is amazing and fresh. I always do a build your own bowl and am able to fully customize a poke bowl to my liking. They also have ramen and different rice bowls. The pricing at this place is so affordable for fresh tuna and salmon. I’m used to paying over $20 for the servings they provide. Their prices range from $11-15. A nice Chinese family owns the restaurant and are always so wonderful to their customers and genuinely remember the regulars. “I got a takeout order of the lunch special chicken teriyaki bento box to try this place for the first time. The chicken was really soft and delicious. Under the chicken there is cabbage and broccoli which were both cooked well. The California roll was good - the rice had good flavor, and the avocado was soft. I feel more confident to try their raw sushi now. I'll update my review whenever I get around to trying that.

This place used to be a Chinese store, and around 2022 a new management took over and turned it into a sushi place. it still looks like a regular Bronx Chinese store inside. Unlike other sushi restaurants, this isn't really the kind of place I'd want to sit and eat. But it's great for takeout.“
