“I have always enjoyed this restaurant. They are offering a great deal for a weekend in September in the Hamptons. $45 3 course prix fix. Excellent choices on the menu and every weekend the menu changes. Our food was delicious. Good portion sizes. The Apple Tart Tatin was excellent. And as an added bonus, they gave us a baguette when we left. The restaurant was full. I wish more restaurants would offer great deals like this, especially on the weekends. I hope Armin and Judy continue their weekend prix fix throughout the winter.“

“So this is a Pub that is Cash Only, and shares it’s parking lot with neighboring businesses. So parking may not be close by. As you enter you’ll notice that The Bar Area is placed against the wall to the right. There’s about 6 beers on tap with plenty of bottled beers and canned beers in-stock, but they don’t serve food here. At the time of my visit, there was Grilled Cheese for $1. The place has a small interior is ideal for small to midsize groups of people to attend. The even have outdoor seating for larger crowds. They offer an ATM, Arcade Game such as Cards, Dart Board, Old School Jukebox, One Flat Screen TV, Popcorn Maker, and a water station. There’s 2 unisex restrooms for use and smoking is done outside the building in the back, that has tables and chairs to sit on. This place has a fun but more of a laid back atmosphere about it and is definitely a local hangout bar, but it’s worth checking out.“

“Greenport Distilling and Bar is no longer in Greenport. It has recently reopened on the site of One Woman Winery at 5195 Old North Road in Southold. In addition to great cocktails based on their own gin, vodka and bourbon, you can also opt for a variety of One Woman wines.
They are open every day except Tuesday from 11:30AM to 6:00PM. On Fridays, they stay open for Jazz Night from 6:00 to 9:00.
The musicians vary from week to week but they have all been good. What does not vary is the quality of the cocktails, wines and delicious snacks. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The newly renovated barn provides an impressive and comfortable environment to relax and enjoy.“

This man and his business lifelong accomplice, Chef Pete are the customer based/retail version of why and how I got into food. Fred, Pete, Sous/Exec Jorge, Brandon, and yes... even Justin taught me the lines and roles of each station in a restaurant. Honey, I was green and sad and super motivated. These guys rode me like white on fkn rice. Due to that whoo-hah, I can carry my own brigade and make a killing in the raw arena. Fred was a master at his craft 60ish years ago and still is - encouraging line cooks to expound and expand 20+ years down the line. forever grateful.“

“Good food, friendly spot, big fan. Been coming here for years. Here's my 1 suggestion: for the takeout ...why not offer online ordering? I have to call for take-out, which usually results in the line being busy (in the summer). If I can't get through I have to go elsewhere, which stinks because I live close by. Then, if I do get through, have to provide my credit card info, which is very 2006. Maybe ownership simply doesn't need the takeout biz and prefers it this way, and that's fine, but remains frustrating nonetheless. Just my .02 cents.“

“Had the chance to visit Sam’s last week and happy to report it’s still the same classic, family friendly spot it always has been. The minute you walk in the doors, all the great memories come flooding back. Our food (four cheese pie with chicken and the linguine with locally caught seafood) was delish! Our server was lovely. Had the pork/katsu buns for appetiziers and ramen for the main course, along with the torched wagyu roll. The ramen here is great, on par (if not better) than the best spots in Manhattan. I had the chili chook (soy ginger chicken based ramen) and a friend had the udon carbonara.“

All of the serving staff were attentive and our main waitress made excellent recommendations, including the wine pairing for our entrees. Speaking of the entree, perfectly cooked and seasoned filet. Melted in our mouths like butter with a phenomenal side of puréed potatos. Dessert was a revelation. I personal haven’t been a big fan of rhubarb pie, but their strawberry rhubarb pie with pistachio ice cream made me a believer. Also split their incredible warm chocolate cake with Carmel sauce. If you are in the area and you are looking for a special meal, this is the place. Hats off to the chefs!“
