“My boyfriend picked this place to eat after our activities yesterday. I read the reviews and a lot of people said it was a dive bar. I wasn’t concerned because those be the places that have the bomb food. We both had bacon cheeseburgers and they were really good, and drinks were good too. We would visit again.“

“Came here with friends to watch the NY Liberty game. It’s a spacious bar, with ample seating throughout. I do wish the game was played on more than one screen (only one screen was playing the game, so we had to cram over people to get a view of the screen). The food was good, and came quite fast. The bartender was very nice, and made my drink EXACTLY how I wanted it. Just wish they played local games on more than 1 screen.

“The Canary is by far the best locals bar in Crown Heights. Everyone is very friendly. Excellent food with an array of the best beer and whiskey Ireland has to offer. “(Nov 2014) Uber cool high tech mod fitout and no shortage of opinionated beer nerds (complete with obligatory cult brewery t-shirts). Even at 2pm on a Sunday arvo. Doesn’t quite have the warm of a traditional US bar but still pretty friendly. Very international list with a focus on left of centre. Pricing on the high side but reflects the quality of the beers. Served via cabernet glasses - a nice touch. I really grew to like the place and they use a small space well. Can I say it reminds me of Two Row in Melbourne? And....btw....the only other bar I have ever seen where punters are punching out tasting notes!“

The light in the place didn’t change over the 10 hours I was there. Slowly my hair grew and slicked back, a pack of cigarettes rolled into the sleeve of my white t-shirt. “I’ve attended many birthdays and other special occasions in the main front room at Mug’s, and recently hosted a small get together on a Thursday night. The staff was super accommodating in helping me reserve a few high-top tables, especially given how last-minute my request was. The space is well laid out for gatherings of 20 to 25 people if you are looking to enjoy a bar atmosphere without having to be in a private room. Looking forward to my next visit!“

“I just recently moved back to Bay Ridge after years away. Going into Bean Post I was welcomed and felt right at home on my 1st visit. The Food is fantastic and the mixed drinks they know how to pour them in Brooklyn. They offer fantastic meals especially there Thanksgiving meals you can pick up. My girlfriend had major surgery about 2 weeks ago. It was not possible for us to cook a Thanksgiving meal. WE ordered 2 Thanksgiving meals and the portions were amazing and a value we could not find anywhere else. The Turkey Dinners we purchased and the joy we had sharing Thanksgiving together with our dinners from Bean Post made it a Wonderful Holiday. We are now looking forward to ordering Christmas dinners from Anthony and his family. They treated us well. THANK YOU!“

“The only reason I gave the food a 4 is they sell what is supposed to be macaroni and cheese it was shell and a white sauce I kept tasting it in hopes I would taste a hint of cheese no such luck Everything else there is quality and as expected. I live their wings they are fresh and not pumped with steroids.

“Moving to Parkslope/ Downtown Brooklyn from the Bronx, adjusting to new neighborhood, ha, the rival borough. Surrounded by such beautiful, unique diversity in the culinary arts and experiences; The North Pole, within a year of my arrival to the neighborhood, organically has become my to go spot, my safe space. Not just when I visit alone to work on my writing at 2/3 in the morning, but also when I’ve brought a close friend to vent about her romantic relationships and heartaches, but also just to unwind and get lose, momentarily pausing once day-to-day adult struggle, by getting lost in Cartoon Networks imaginary worlds though caricatures of our human dreams and desires. It’s a great mix crowded. Clean bathrooms. Good vibe out front in the smoking area. Great conversations. What sealed it for me was and is the goose guava beer on tab. The owner is great and I’ve personally have witnessed him stand up, to the point of dismissing and politely welcoming those who don’t mind their business and disrespect others just for their own ignorance. He’s very firmly has told those folks that The North Pole isn’t the place for hate and discrimination. That aloneeeeeeee without me realizing made me stand harrddd and support this The North Pole Bar out of the more than 20 locals on the strip to grab a beer from. The price is right. The vibe is right. The love, respect, and community is felt.“

“I stopped in to have a couple of drinks prior to going to see the Christmas lights in the neighborhood.

This is such a great little cash only dive bar in Dyker Heights. My bartender (whom I didn't get his name) was fast and friendly. I got a couple of Bloody Mary's as that is one of my main cocktails, and they were very simple and tasted great.

I really liked the vibe of this bar where it wasn't too noisy with loud music. They also have several TVs displayed if you want to watch a game.

The prices for drinks are super cheap as my Bloody Mary's only costs $8. As far as food goes, I believe the only food offering they have is pizza.

Overall, I definitely like this place, and I will most certainly stop in again for a drink or two or three the next time I am in the area.“

I had the pleasure of attending a Prince-themed celebration here in October with the Prince Fans of New York and NJ Facebook group, and it was truly an unforgettable experience.

The venue’s ambiance set the tone for an incredible evening. The space felt intimate yet lively, making it the perfect spot for a themed celebration. The music was on point, with an incredible playlist that kept everyone moving and singing along to Prince’s greatest hits. The energy in the room was electric—fans came dressed in their best Purple Rain-inspired attire, and the camaraderie was unmatched.

The food and drinks at the Starlight Tavern were equally impressive. The menu offered a great selection, and everything I tried was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were expertly crafted, perfectly complementing the festive mood of the evening.

“This place is a breath of fresh air to me. A comfortable bar with good food that also has TV’s which is apparently a novel thing for this area. Great Guinness, good chicken wings, and tons of classic bar food choices for when you go to watch a game. The fried chicken sandwich tastes incredibly fresh and they do a great job with cocktails as well.“

“I used to come here for their chicken wings which are great, but recently this place has invested in a smoker and is serving authentic bbq pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken thighs every Tuesday and Sunday.

I ordered half a rack of their sweet & spicy ribs with complimentary two sides (mac & cheese & corn on the cob) & complimentary cornbread

My total was about $23. The ribs were meaty & fall of the bone tender with a great sticky sweet & spicy molasses style bbq sauce evenly distributed on top

The ribs were so infused with smokiness that I later walked around my apartment wondering if someone was having a bonfire nearby, you can tell these are slow cooked to perfection.

The cornbread was my next favorite thing about this meal. It seems authentically homemade with corn kernels throughout
& the mac & cheese & the corn balanced everything out with a nice creamy cheesy sweetness.

Overall excellent BBQ, you can feed two people from one order, I would just suggest ordering an extra side dish as the sides seem to be intended for a single person.
