“I went to El Pingüino about two weeks ago and absolutely loved that they offer happy hour seven days a week and it’s becoming a routine for us!
The hours are 4–7 PM, plus a late-night happy hour from 10 PM to midnight.

Their seafood happy hour is pretty simple they only offer one type of oyster but it was super fresh and delicious. Clean, lightly briny, and perfect with just a squeeze of lemon.

And they have really great basque cheesecake!

The overall vibe is relaxed and easygoing, making it a great spot to unwind after work or grab a late-night drink.

If you’re in Greenpoint and love oysters, this place is definitely worth checking out.“

“This was our 1st visit to Mr Fire. We loved the way the place was decorated, plenty of space at tables, booths and bar. Great art and very clean. It was early Sunday afternoon, there was a buffet for $49.99 per person or you could order off the menu which we chose to do . There was a dj, DJ Joseph Loveras, who played the best music and had us dancing in our seats!!! He really made our visit so much fun!
Now the food, we started with Beef Nachos which we gave a 5 out of 10. The meat was mushy, there were no toppings except meat, cheese and quac. We asked for sour cream but it was spoiled. Caesar salad was ok but the chicken was bland and dry, the oxtail was just ok.
Service was ok. Our server was nice but I think she may also have been the bartender so her attention was split and it was more of a drop and go.
Gratuity is already figured into your check which I almost didn't see. I live in a different state so that is usually only for parties of 6 or more here but it's fine. There is also a 4% charge for using a card which I'm not crazy about.“

I won't lie, in these days of hard budgets, this will be a splurge for many (we went with the help of a gift card!). With tip, it came to about $250...that's a lot for two people. Was it worth it? Yes!! But is that kind of expenditure hard for many right now? Also yes. Still, I am so glad we went, and I am thankful to the staff for the great food and service. This place is terrific for a special occasion.“

“Usuluteco is another hole in the wall restaurant in Brooklyn where if you drive by too fast you would never see it . Let face it the abundance of traffic parked cars it new York but again I wasn't awhere they were on Google or else I would have taken more pictures the entrance is simple enough I know it winter but I would recommend palms ? at entrance when you get inside it pretty basic but they do have some Spanish song playing on bluer tooth to give it a little ambience tables are chairs are simple .the service was great was greeted as soon as I walked in I like that I went with some friends our waitress/ server attended to us immediately I had the pork chops and a coke it came with rice and peppers I was unsure but it tasted amazing ? and the rice was perfectly cook not a burn grain in site . Food preparation was good Instead of dumping porkchops ? on plate they added a Hugh piece of lettuce then putting the pork chops on top give it some color and style the pork chops were tender not tough (surprise surprise) well seasoned, for some reason when spanish restaurants cook pork chops thry feel the need to dry them out leaving the meat vey tough and hard to chew not at usuluteco they went a different direction , and the rice came out of bowl it gave a mound shape on the plate very traditional an old style that i see is now coming back well put together . These simple touches makes a big difference in customers coming back I would definitely go back and must stop by spot in Brooklyn..

Staff is friendly, greets you immediately, and always taking their time to make sure your order is taken correctly. The women here are stunning as well?... they never skimp on their portions, and the quality of the food is always on point. I like the fact that the food is on display, and you can see the food being prepared right in front of you. The atmosphere is very clean, very inviting and has a sense of a home feeling in the sitting area. Did i mention the women are stunning?. Unfortunately i haven't gotten any pics yet, but my next visit I'll make sure to ask if i can take some first, (Brooklyn people just dont like you taking pics of them)...lol but I'd highly recomend you, or the whole family visiting this restaurant for a great experience, and some great food... ohh and did i forget to mention the women here are stunning!!! “This was another happy discovery, and a nice place to stop in for old-fashioned Spanish comfort food. My favorite dish from here is the garlic chicken with rice and beans, as well as the fresh juices. “Best Breakfast & Brunch Spot in NYC — Period. When you factor in price, flavor, and quality. There’s simply no other spot that beats it.

What makes this place unique is that it’s not your typical all-American brunch, which for me can sometimes be on the bland side. Here, you’re getting a true Dominican-American breakfast and brunch experience — sazon, flavor, and soul in every bite. If you enjoy savoring your food, this is a match made in heaven.

Their mangú is smooth, creamy, and comforting — not the stiff, heavy version you often get elsewhere. I ordered the tres golpe and my girlfriend had the dos golpe with pechurrinas (Dominican chicken tenders). The chicken was crisp to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and mixing it with the mangú is next-level. To finish, I ordered a papaya milkshake that was amazing — rich, refreshing, and the perfect balance.

The flavor here is what sets them apart. If you’re Latino, or if you just love food with seasoning and depth, this is the spot. Too many brunch places in the city are bland — here, every bite has sabor.

On top of that, the service is excellent. Our server Jeanette was attentive, funny, and welcoming — exactly the kind of energy you want when you’re hungry.

And let’s talk about price. In 2025, when everything feels overpriced, this spot is a blessing. Most dishes are $5–$10, nothing over $25, and the quality is unmatched even compared to restaurants charging triple. You get your money’s worth every time.

The only downside is they’re not open for dinner — but for breakfast and brunch, Cafeteria Brooklyn is unbeatable. If you want food that’s flavorful, affordable, and satisfying, this is where you need to be. I’ll definitely be back.“
