“Delicious! My wife and I were checking out the menu during the Canal Days when the owner stepped out and introduced himself. He was great to talk to and suggested we try the special. She had the special (turkey BLT wrap) and I had the beef on wick. Food was delicious and the service was top-notch in our book.

“Several of us old guys rotate a monthly dinner. Tonight six of us dined at Porterhouse. Service was on point. Shawna was great. We order family style and pass plates around. Apps we had were Artichoke French, arancini and pot stickers. All fantastic. Entrees were salmon, strip steak and braised spareribs. Sides of mashed potatoes, root veggies and a great rice. Three bottles of red. Five after dinner drinks. $100 per person including tip. All six plan on returning. Highly recommended.“

“We went to this wonderful restaurant today for the first time, and it was unbelievably great! The man who waited on us answered all of our questions, the environment is warm and inviting, the service was the best ever, service was great, and we were not hurried in any way. Prices are reasonable and the quantity of food is spot on for hungry people. And of course, don't forget the desserts. There is a whole case of desserts to choose, and they were DELICIOUS. “Dinner tonight was fabulous. Fresh, great quality. I had the French dip, which I honestly must say between the beef, bread, couldn’t be better! I had the homemade mashed as a side. Excellent! The garden side salad was perfect combination of vegetables nicely prepared. My guest ordered the cottage pie all I can say is wow and it was also said to be very delicious and beautifully done. I haven’t been in some years it was pleasant to be back. The bar drinks looked amazing as well! You can’t be disappointed here! Our server Hailey was friendly and provided great service. “The atmosphere was was great. Our waitress Bella( at the Rochester one) was amazing. Very knowledgeable and friendly sling with our hostess and other table help. Was a great experience. The only thing I was disappointed in ( which wasn’t any of these peoples doing) was my porterhouse steak. For the money, it should have been a nice cut. It was an end cut, one that even some stores don’t use…let alone a very upscale restaurant. It was also supposed to be med rare n was med. I didn’t send it back because st least it was pink, but it was well past med rare. My crab cake was very good. The lobster and crab mac and cheese was also very good. I’d definitely recommend and go back. Just not sure if I’d get the porterhouse again. Probably go with just the filet.“

“I’ll preface this by saying that I’ve had garbage plates from Dogtown & Nick’s (the OG). I got a half-plate, which was still a huge portion weighing probably four pounds, with mac’n’homefries and cheeseburger topped with the cinnamon (mild but tasty) meat sauce and “a little bit” of onions, mustard, and ketchup. This was BY FAR the most delicious garbage plate I’ve ever had. I will ABSOLUTELY be coming back here. And it’s less than a 10-minute, quick’n’easy drive from Rochester General Hospital (so skip the Wolfgang Puck despite the convenience). “I was visiting Rochester from Ilinois. On my last night there before heading home, I wanted to relax and chill to mentally recap the weekend before heading back to the hell of Illinois. Anyways. I was recommended by a local to go to Castaways. I was not disappointed. It was about 8:30 pm, 65 degrees, a cool breeze coming off the lake, exceptional service, the shrimp scampi was the best I have ever had, and the stunning visuals of the sunset on the west side of Lake Ontario / Lake America was stunning. The Moscow Mule drinks were amazing, and made properly with copper mugs. It is crazy how many high end bars won't make a proper Mule without a copper mug. There is a real difference. Just so relaxing. Not only visually, but hearing the waves crash over the rocks was a nite cap. Can't wait to come back here!“

She had no problem with that and provided very friendly service. The food was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We enjoyed everything on our plates, nothing tasted bad. And the decor was very interesting. Even the chair backs were decorative. We would dine here a lot more if we lived closer. Definitely recommended if you like Mexican food.“
