Old Sport Food is a bit of a hole in the wall place off the beaten path, a hidden gem in Flushing. The food is simple, clean, and good, offering an amazing Halal Chinese noodle experience. It is pretty solid and delicious food with very fair prices and generous portions.
Diners recommend numerous dishes. The braised beef in the noodle soup is packed with flavor and absolutely melts in the mouth, described as the star of the show. The hand-pulled noodles are made in house. Other standout items include the Uyghur lagman, the big plate braised chicken with noodles, the dumplings which are an absolute must-try, the beef wonton, the Chinese burger, the cucumber salad, the bok choy side, and the fabulous fresh chili oil. The Lanzhou beef noodle soup has a very mild broth. Some note the soup can sometimes lack a bit of flavor.
The setting is simple with very friendly workers. There is no traditional service; you order off a touch screen and food is brought to you. The commitment to good service is clear, with staff being apologetic and accommodating if any issue arises. The bathrooms are clean and nice. While some feel it is not a top NYC restaurant, it is widely suggested to definitely give it a shot.
