“Incredibly friendly staff. My husband is a hot fried chicken sandwich junkie and he said BH's was the best he's ever had. Didn't think I would ever write a review about a salad but just wow! The seasonal (greens, walnuts, apples, cheddar, etc.) with a lemon vin was so amazingly tasty, fresh, clean and filling. It was so big it took of us to finish. I have biscuits for tomorrow morning and they look delicious. Seating might be an issue at prime times - we were incredibly lucky to have a picture perfect late fall day with abundant sunshine so we grabbed a picnic table (they bring the food out to you). The line was a bit long but it moved quickly. You can definitely tell who's local and who's got an attitude and thinks locals are rubes. Just ignore them, shoo away their negativity and enjoy a beautiful day with kind people and delicious food.”

“A perfect summer meal in a gorgeous garden - when we arrived we discovered their daily menu had few vegetarian options so we asked if the chef could make some simple grilled vegetable and instead he made 7 exquisite, world class veggie dishes - our server told us he took it as in inspiring challenge. while the beef and shellfish dishes enjoyed by half the table were perfectly executed (in facvt, the clam broth made we swoon in joy) the vegetarians were the winners (and graciously shared their summer bounty with the whole table)”

“For the sake of full disclosure I’ve worked with the owners for over twenty years in the television industry. They have brought the same dedication and amazing attention to detail that has resulted in their tremendously successful careers, to their wonderful new restaurant. They have thought of EVERY detail from the whimsical videos playing in the rest rooms to the sugar cubes for your espresso... they have missed nothing. The menu is inventive and perfectly executed... Watermelon Gazpacho?! Whoa! The unique presentation of the Calamari appetizer was wonderful. Bouillabaisse?! You don’t find that as the seafood option very often... what a treat. Others in my group enjoyed perfectly cooked steaks and the slightly smoky Mac & Cheese. Of course the cheese plates are spectacular. This is one of those meals you won’t forget! But wait did I mention the speakeasy downstairs? The perfectly appointed room features an amazing menu of craft cocktails AND six draft beers to choose from... including Ommegang Rare Vos... you simply don’t find that on tap anywhere!! Finally a word about the service. It was impeccable, perfectly attentive without being stuffy. Chris and Ellen have created a destination restaurant!”

“My husband and I had our 90-guest wedding at the Vanderbilt on 6/8/24 and it could not have been any better. We found the Vanderbilt on Airbnb when looking for a unique wedding venue, visited it in January of 2023, and booked it instantly- didn’t even see another venue. As stated in previous reviews, Henrietta made the planning process as easy as possible. We communicated mainly via email, but she allowed us to come to the space as often as we needed (I think between both of our families we were there 3 times). She also provided a list of vendors that previous wedding parties had used at the Vanderbilt, which I used for our planner, tent company, shuttle company and photographer (all great). When it came time for the tasting, we were provided with an extensive menu of food and drinks curated by Matt. We were blown away by the food. As the wedding day approached, Henrietta was easy to communicate with and flexible. She helped us plan a thorough rainy day plan B, and was the bearer of good news when she called me 2 days prior to tell me the weather looked good and we were going with plan A. The weekend of the wedding was incredible. Our families stayed in the 8 rooms upstairs Friday and Saturday night. Henrietta and Matt were in early on Saturday to get everything prepared. Their team was incredible. After the ceremony, Henrietta greeted us with champagne and a congratulations. When cocktail hour ended and we realized we were so busy that we didn’t even eat our appetizers, Henrietta put together a plate for us and brought it over. I’ve heard from a number of guests that the food was the best they’ve had at a wedding, and I agree. It’s important to note that the staff was also FUN to have around. Bartenders and servers interacted with guests and kept the energy light and fun. The next morning, Matt prepared a great breakfast (much needed) for those staying at the Vanderbilt, even including some leftovers of our banana pudding dessert from the night before. Now let’s quickly talk about the space. The Vanderbilt Lakeside is the most unique space I’ve ever seen. Each room has its own personality and is decorated meticulously and beautifully. I only had to bring in decorations for the tables, as the venue itself was already perfect. The deck was a perfect fit for our 90-person dinner. The lawn, outdoor bar, and lawn games were a hit for those who wanted to chill out rather than dance. The Bar room was the perfect size for our musicians and a dance floor. The rooms upstairs are clean, all about the same size, and all have their own bathrooms to make for a comfortable stay. Overall, I cannot recommend the Vanderbilt enough. We’re racking our brains for an excuse to host another event there. Henrietta and Matt are incredible to work with!”

“DO NOT get the mochi donut… you will never stop thinking about it and you’ll eventually be shopping for bigger pants. Delicious food with veg options! The staff is awesome, coffee options are delicious but I wish there were more flavoring choices. Atmosphere is an aesthetic vibe but sadly, not very cozy. Nice to sit at the windows and watch the goings on in town though.”

“I was just traveling through the area and had the good fortune to give this cafe a try for breakfast and I have to say it was perfect,every part of my meal was delicious. I have rarely been so satisfied with the freshness and preparation of a meal but these folks are putting in the care and work to do things right, my waffles were stellar definitely not made with pancake mix like so many mediocre restaurants do everything was well seasoned and nicely presented by an attentive staff.I garuantee you anytime I am any where near Chatham I will be dining here(I live in Maine but visit friends and relatives in the Albany area)!”

Their farm-fresh offerings are locally sourced & community-driven (you can literally SEE the farm from your table!). “Great Jamaican Food!!! This hidden gem in Hudson/Greenport is the place to go for authentic Jamaican dishes. The owners, Randy and Anne are delightful and really care about the quality of the food they serve. I've had every dish on their menu and each one has been delicious. Portions are generous with both lunch and dinner sizes at reasonable prices. My personal favorites are their traditional Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, Curry Chicken and Oxtails. All served with rice and peas, plantains and veggies. In colder weather they offer a hearty soup with traditional Jamaican Spinner dumplings. Whenever they have a "special" dish I always give it a try and have not been disappointed. Just yesterday they offered a special Barbeque Chicken which was sweet and savory. I certainty hope this becomes a dish they offer regularly.They are open on Wednesdays and Fridays and are my go to place for take out Wednesday dinner. They serve out of a stationary food truck with plenty of onsite parking. Food is packed for take out and there are picnic tables with umbrellas if you'd like to eat there. They are located up on the hill overlooking Fairview Ave just a bit south of Bagel Thyme. Stop by, check it out. You will not be disappointed.

My husband has ordered the NY strip several times and it’s always been amazing. Last night I ordered the strip steak and it was absolutely amazing! It was cooked perfectly! The mashed potatoes were so good!! We love this place, we’re so happy to have a great restaurant so close to home.”
